As the title suggests, I am a returning player and I am looking for a guild on Underworld.

Before I continue, please keep in mind that I can’t / won’t transfer to other servers because I am playing on Underworld with my GF too, so I can’t leave the server to join a guild that may or may not be what I’m looking for. I am also not too interested in guesting. (I only guest when I want to RP on Piken Square now and again)

Assuming that your guild is on Underworld and you’re interested in these details, my main characters are:

- Norn Warrior – LVL 58 or something
- Human Ranger – LVL 40+
- Human Guardian – LVL 32 and my main

I’m looking for a guild that explores all the facets of the game, including PVE and PVP (in all its forms) in a relaxed yet organized manner. (Having an interest in PVP is mainly why I’m not fond of guesting)

Please keep in mind that I’m not the most active player due to the fact that I work during the day and I have other hobbies / occupations that keep me quite busy sometimes.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that (without trying to sound like a kitten lol) I am used to play with more “mature” communities / clans. Although I’m member of one already, it focuses mainly on games like Planetside 2. I’m not active anymore (in Planetside 2) and since the clan does not support GW2, I am looking for something similar in this game as well. Key aspects that I’m looking for:

- Well organized but not necessarily strict

- A proper sign-up form would show that you’re not recruiting by the numbers but by “quality”, which would be a plus. However, as long as you do have a set of rules and certain recruitment criteria (thus you don’t just gather everyone you can find), I suppose that’s good enough.

- Mature community please (By that I also mean no kids / immature grownups that get trembling voices whenever they hear a female voice on TS / Raidcall/ Mumble / whatever- I am male BTW)

I’ve noticed that earlier too. Clearly, there will be some unwanted guests at the event.

I’m still a newb at both the game and the lore, but my guesses are that it’s not going to be something that will affect the game outside the event area at all (political or otherwise)

Clearly I was hoping for new areas but that’s out of the question for what I’ve heard / read.

Player housing would be nice too. Some sort of announcement that an area is now for sale to the adventurers… I don’t know…

Hello everyone,

I’m having some graphical issues with GW2. As you can see in the screenshots below, certain buildings have white(ish) walls that constantly flicker (both inside or outside the building). I’ve noticed that oftentimes, depending on the camera position the flicker goes on or off.

I have updated to the latest Nvidia drivers (310.90), before that I was running on 310.70, but still nothing. The flickers are there on both drivers.

In a nutshell, my system is:

i5-2500k
8GB of RAM
Nvidia GTS 450 1 GB

The game runs well besides these flickers, I have plenty of FPS (40-75) and overall, this isn’t a huge issue for me. It is annoying and I’d want to get rid of it.

Any tips?

Hello everyone.

I’m on the lookout for a guild that suits my play style as well as my personality and that being said, please stop reading this post if all you care is seeing your guild member counter going up at all costs. No offense, but we’re not on the same page is all.

With that out of the way, here’s the skinny (in retrospect it’s rather a wall of text lol). I’m searching for a group to play the game with. The term “mature” has probably been overused and has lost its meaning, but yes I would say that I’m looking for a mature guild (ages above 18-20, people with jobs etc). I have nothing against the younger audience, on the contrary. Nonetheless I wish to spend my gaming time with people that I can relate with so once again, it’s nothing personal.

I’m not really interested in how big the guild is as long as there’s someone to talk and play with when I log on. In fact I’d be more interested in a smaller group of “close” people rather than a huge number of spread-out individuals. I know that’s a bit difficult to find, so I’ll stick to the old formula of “mature guild”.

As for what I expect in the game itself, well I’m not really a huge GW2 player. My character is lvl 30+ something and I’m not constantly online. When I’m not working or have other RL things to take care of, I’m playing other games as well occasionally, mostly Planetside 2 with a “mature” outfit. Nonetheless, I do log in GW 2 as well and I’ve noticed that I get bored a bit too quickly, playing all alone in those rather empty wild areas. Perhaps I got used to the constant squad/platoon play in Planetside 2…

Anyway, the point is that I’d like to give the game a try alongside a guild that might accept me based on what I’ve shared above. I have no goals in-game, but I’d rather focus more on PVE atm since I haven’t actually played the game and enjoyed the content properly in order to go into PVP, and also because I simply get my dose of PVP from other games.

I’m waiting for some replies

BTW there are items like this in Guild Wars 2. “idiotic content”. Shouldn’t be calling people idiots for having fun with in-game items just because YOU don’t like them.

And on the other hand it would be nice for people to be more considerate who CAN’T work! Myself for an example with a spine disease and numerous other things wrong with my body. So I can play Guild Wars 2 ALL DAY LONG, but let me tell ya I would rather be working. I get tired of being called a leech or a lazy welfare person. You don’t know me, and just because I am 80 already doesn’t mean that I am bored.
And I am still having a blast at 80 and have tons of things to do yet.

sPVP is instant, WvWvW takes HOURS to join.

Some of these complaints on the forums are VERY valid and they need to be heard. And some are not. When you get this many people playing an MMO there are going to be whiners and complainers that don’t make sense….

- Sorry to hear that you have spine problems mate. Evidently I was not talking about people with health problems or anything like that. I wasn’t targeting everyone playing the game all day, I was just saying that if you’re a hardcore gamer, that doesn’t mean you need to be a kitten. I was a hardcore gamer and I loved it, but I never complained about a game for being more casual when it was pretty much obvious. Nobody got lied here, that’s the point, so these complaints are irrelevant.

- When I meant the PvP is quick-to-join I was referring strictly to the gameplay, not queuing times, and mainly the fact that your level is scaled and you can pretty much enjoy PvP at any level, as much as any other player.

- I will agree with you that what I have in common with every other forum member is the fact that I posted a thread, but I was not actually complaining about the state of the game. And again, I’m not saying that all complaints are not valid. I’m not talking about complains regarding balance issues or bugs. I hate to repeat myself but once again, I was talking about those who simply didn’t get the point of the game to begin with, and they now complain about core-aspects of gameplay. The information was out there.

I’m sorry but when a person considers asking for a refund after he’s reached lvl 80, simply because he finally realized what the game is all about, then that person has a problem. A big one. That’s not how things work.

Here’s the deal. I’ve pre-ordered GW2 two days before its launch and ever since, I’ve kept an eye on Anet’s updates on Facebook, so on and so forth.
Now that the forums are up the community has been able to share their thoughts with ease, so I thought I’d share mine.

The main thing I want to talk about is the complaints. I know this game is not perfect and no game is. However, there are some weird complains out there that just blow my mind.

First of all, Anet has not false advertised this game. If you think the game should’ve been any different then you simply have no idea how an MMO works. In fact, I was expecting worse and I still paid money for the game.

Second of all, if you thought GW2 will be the kind of game where you can spend hundreds of hours doing virtually nothing but still being compelled to do whatever you’re doing, then that’s your own fault. I’ve seen people complaining about the lack of end-game content and it hurts my brain on so many levels to hear that. Was it not obvious that what you get at level 1-40 is roughly the same thing you’ll get at end game? Was it too hard to understand that GW2 is in fact trying to keep the entire world alive and meaningful (lvl scaling) and is focusing more on the journey and not the destination? And was it hard to understand that like in GW fashion, the endgame content eventually comes down to PvP?

But you see, the problem is not the game. The problem is you. You’ve been able to spend enough time during the past few weeks in order to hit level 80 and max-out crafting, and now you’re bored. We get that. Well, how about you do something else for a change, besides playing one game the whole day every day? This is not WoW, and the only reason WoW will keep you entertained even when you get bored of Blizzard’s dumbed down raids is because it has idiotic content like trains and paper zeppelins. However, when you hit the forums and rant about the fact that GW2 is not the type of game that can replace your real life, could you be more considerate to those who have jobs and friends and a social life, and are actually enjoying playing GW2 as it is simply because it delivers a fun leveling experience, exploration worthy of a single player RPG, quick-to-join PvP and no drama / bull***?

It’s a fun game, and if you can’t see that then it’s your own fault for burning it out. Go play something else for a change, the game is free for god’s sake and you don’t need to worry about a subscription. You can come back to it whenever you want. I for one am playing only an hour a day because I also like to play a SC2 match when I get home, and I’m also eagerly waiting for Borderlands 2 to hit the EU market. But you know what? I’m always logging into GW2 as well because it’s fun, and in fact the only thing keeping me from not spending more time in GW2 than I already do is because the game runs like crap on a dual-core CPU. So until I’ll buy a new machine within the next couple of months, my eyes hurt to get into 7 FPS boss events so I can’t play for more than an hour without feeling like I’m ruining my own experience.

The bottom line is, if you’re bored of the game, no problem. Play another one for a while. You don’t need to be “loyal” to one single game at a time. But keep in mind that it’s not Anet’s problem that GW2 is not the MMO that can ruin your social life. It’s your own problem if you decide to trash-talk an MMO that does not deliver what YOU want, despite the fact that Anet explained everything pretty clearly so the answers were out there, and some of us knew exactly what to expect from the very start.
