i can see the OPs difficulty if he is constantly comparing GW1 to GW2 professions. The games’ combat systems are quite different so my suggestion is, “don’t do that”.

Warrior is only “noob faceroll” if you want to play lazy and not learn to utilize the profession fully.

Yeah, but I liked GW so much xD
BTW. utilizating warrior fully – what do you mean? Just knockdown/fear/stung timing? Or is there something else?

But – once you do reach level 30+ and you manage to wrap your head around the 20 odd skills each weapon set gives you… well, now – then the fun really begins.

I’d say, go for the Warrior and Elementalist. You sound as if you like the
Warrior play style and Ele is amazingly versatile, with massive dps potential at the higher levels.

I think I will end up with warrior or guardian(yay, monk+warrior). Does guardian differ much from warrior? He is more defensive and that’s all, more support class or how the things look in this game?

If you want challenging, Mesmer sounds about right for you. Caster class that can be played long-range, mid-range and melee, with power builds, condi builds, phantasms… It’s a pretty fun to play class, if rather squishy until you get your traits. Also useful in jumping puzzles since you can teleport yourself back up if you fall^, but that’s mostly a side effect^^

Yea, Mesmer was fun but it’s way too squishy for my tastes.

So, I have been playing GW2 for a week and still can’t decide the profession. I like playstyles of ranger, monk and warrior in first Guild Wars, but they were quite diffrent there. Ranger had great control/cc/condition options and warrior was the main killer in PvP.
So far I tried all the classes and I’m concerned, Warrior seems to be lacking, he’s more support now and ranger felt like “just press 2 and evade”, lot’s of people also say taht warrior is noob, faceroll class and I like to play something more challenging.
Engineer was fun, but it’s not quite my playstyle, rifle isn’t what I expected and mostly he just throwes grenades.
What class should I choose then? I’m mostly PvP player but want to do the highend PvE too. If I just had the time to max a couple of characters…
