Locker for PvE skins

(…) Perhaps a good mechanism for this would be to add a functionality to transmutation stones/crystals that when you transmute, you can add the skin to your locker. That way, transmutation stones/crystals will still be required to get the skin to your locker and will maintain that income through the gem store.

Why not make it free to put in there but a transmutation stone is required to get it out? It would require the same amount of stones as it does presently so they do not lose anything.

Then they’d lose out on selling gems for people to spend on opening up bank space.

Then make the locker something you unlock in the same way and people will buy it… I know I would, and I already have paid for all bank extensions.

My opinion on the living world

Personally, I really like the new content and having content delivered on a regular basis is nice since there is always something fresh.

But the temporary content is definitely a problem for me. I feel pressured to play to not miss content, like the old days of WoW raiding (and I am getting too old for that). I feel like I cannot put the game down for a few weeks or a month to play something else, do something, go on a trip with the kids… without feeling I missed something in game. The main reason I liked GW1 and, until Living Story, GW2, is the fact that I could put it down from time to time and not miss anything. This is no longer the case and that takes a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Temporary content also has a major drawback and that is the Story. I like the story and the way it is told and I believe Arena Net is doing an awesome job on it. But designing temporary content means that you cannot build on previous work since players might not have played it. Or if you do, players feel lost. For example, when I see Aetherblades striking in Labyrinthine Cliffs, I do not understand exactly who they are since I did miss that content; I did not play much during that part and when I did, I felt like starting a new character. I kind of feel cheated since I cannot enjoy the content as much and I feel frustrated by that.

Do not get me wrong, the new content is awesome and the sky crystal hunt was a blast! I just do not like where this is going.

You mean the ugly piece of cloth on the back on GW1 characters? Nah, we don’t need that. Style was awesome on anything but this in GW1.

One thing that I would like to add is that I sincerely hope you learn to control what you say in chat and keep playing. By quitting, you would be missing on a great game and that would be your loss. But in the end the choice is yours.

Well, they are doing what every other MMO should have done. This is the first game where I can leave my map chat open and not be bothered by language abuse and insults. Kudos ANet and thank you for the way you handle this juvenile behavior. To the OP: is it not possible for you to enjoy the game and simply be civil, courteous and polite? Everyone would appreciate I am sure.

Does anyone actually Like Necro???

My main is Elementalist and I am having a blast with it. However, I have as much fun with my necro at this time (I’d call her my main alt). I have leveled it while staying in zones around 5 levels above me without trouble. It rocks in PvP and WvW.

The thing is it rocks in areas where my ele is poor, it has troubles where my ele shines. Yes the minion AI is broken, but other builds are very fine. As with all classes there are some issues; but the survivability and the forgiveness is very nice.

So yes to answer the original question: I really like my necro.

Only one person? What about hiring some ppl like a good company for your customers ? Poor ArenaNet…

Sorry to hear about it Starwinz.1904. Hope they can solve your issue with only one person on that team since i miss Blizzard’s Representatives and their fast responses with talking with us in max half hour in-game or their phone support… so this the diffrence between cheap and good game.

And i bet they will ban me too or delete my response after this. Since they are so good for hiding.

Not sure if trolling but I’ll answer anyway. She never said there was only one person in the support team, this seems like deliberate misreading. And if it were me I would simply delete all useless threads of people complaining when ANet support team is already looking at the tickets. The discussion between a player and the support team when a ticket is opened is a private discussion between them and have nothing to do with the forums.

We are lucky of having people like Gaile trying to help and inform the community when things go wrong. As for Blizzard’s fast support, that one made me laugh, thank you, I guess we have different experiences on that (yes they answer quickly in-game, but it still takes forever and a half for them to do anythings about it, in my experience).

Keep up the good work Gaile and Happy Holidays to you… and everyone else of course!

Ok I concede to your superior tactics . You try that out next time when you try to get away from 6 v 1 and let me know how it works out for you.

6 on 1? “Well, get some extra guys and then it’ll be a fair fight.” – James T. Kirk

Seriously though, in WvW if you get out alive of such odds, you are extremely good AND the 6 against you are VERY bad. This is not a problem with the class.

I would say that EVERYONE is entitled to complete a holiday event. It’s not supposed to be a challenge, it’s supposed to be something fun and easy, and it should take no more than 20 minutes AND you should be guaranteed some cheap holiday items, liquor, food, socks/sweaters/hats whatever, but NOT EXOTIC ARMOR as per the Clock Tower.

If Anet is making every holiday about jumping and dungeons, I’m gonna be pretty annoyed.

Sorry to be so bold, but what I find annoying is that feeling of entitlement. If they make it so everyone can complete it, they would have to dumb it down to a level that most player will find it a joke… and players will complain with reason. What is needed is mix of hard and easy events… and ANet nailed it with Wintersday as the Tixx dungeon is a walk in the park, the guitar bell hero is just plain fun with a bit of challenge, and the jumping puzzle requires skill without being aggravating.

And since I have yet to actually do it (almost made it last time), let me log in and try that one again! See you in Tyria!

I personally really like the fact that the puzzle is timed. There are a lot of jumping puzzles already in the game where the challenge lays elsewhere.

Yes I hope that the upcoming puzzles (we always want more, don’t we?) are introduced with a different mechanic to make them challenging… not because I hate the timed thing, but because I want more variety.

And no I have not completed it yet after about 90 minutes trying (got close though!) And when I do, I want to be proud of it, I want it to be an “achievement”, something I am glad I kept trying… and maybe I will fail utterly and never succeed, that’s fine. That’s what I think a lot of games lack these days, a challenge (but a fair challenge of course!)

Thank you Arena Net.

Not liking Elementalist lack of survivability

My view on my ele:

I like the challenge of the elementalist (the only toon I have at lvl 80). I mostly play dagger/dagger but I am trying to learn the ropes on the staff, since I kind of stuck with D/D from the beginning (heck since BWE1!) since that was so much fun.

In Orr, 3~4 risen are a joke. So I would say the survivability is quite good. Of course, traits and elite skills will really make a difference when I get myself into trouble. I would say that 20 to 40 was a bit on the tough side. Mobility is key, if you stay in one place, it’s bye bye. I am using a 0/0/30/20/20 build which of course makes me quite resilient.

One of the tough part (and challenging/fun part) is that I have noticed a “breaking” point in what I can tackle. The line between an easily doable pull (turning into extremely challenging if I do something stupid) and getting my kitten served to me raw is extremely thin. I am comparing with my necromancer that struggles with way easier pulls but mobs just take 3 and half eternities to bring me down.

With the bonuses of the Arcana/Water trait lines, I get some fun bonuses and boons when switching attunements so I am definitely not sticking into one and constantly switching (I wish I could deactivate the “WATER!!!!” call of the human female… annoying…)

This is my main, so it is the class I control best. But honestly, having tried most of them (haven’t levelled ranger or engineer yet), this is one of the toughest to master… My thief, necro and guardian are more “easy” to play while still being quite fun. If you find Elementalists to be too hard, you can switch and have fun; or you can keep trying and… have fun.

Hell yah! Thanks so much devs.

And Methodic, seriously I can’t believe you’re still complaining about this…rejoice my brother!

Rejoice in what, exactly? What is there to rejoice in? I would gladly rejoice, if there was something worth rejoicing over.

Okay, so they should stop fixing issues… got it.

Personally, thank you Arena Net.

You must not have read my first post. Most of these fixes are things that should’ve been the base game. I’m all for fixes, but I’m not going to praise the devs for giving us non-kittened abilities when that’s what should’ve been the case from the start.

I am sorry if that sounded insulting (after rereading it, I realize that might be), that was not my intention. And of course I think that should have been there from the start, but such is the way in such a complex system as an MMO, it is difficult to get things right. And GW2 is in far better shape after 4 months than most MMOs. What I wanted to point out is that even if something ought to have been there from the start, I still find it a good excuse to rejoice when they fix things.

(…)

The cynical side me is thinking that they have purposely been breaking ele skills, so that they can fix them later and be praised by the ele community for it

Although I am happy to have the fixes lol.

Well, the EA problem was that all spells were triggering the blast finisher and the 10 seconds cool-down was not being applied. This was OP (fun though!)… Instead of leaving something unbalanced in the game, they remove it until they have a fix (like now). In the mean time I have simply tried another build. This is the right way of doing things I believe.

Edit: Only fire and earth were triggering the finisher…

A little tip I use. I have placed the launcher in my “startup” menu folder in windows with the “-image” switch. Every time I start windows, it will update my game. So when I want to play, it is always ready. And since I do that daily, it almost never takes much time.

I find it a bit sad since before launch we were told (can’t find a ref to it though) that we would just had to run each EM path once to get our full set. No grind but a very tough challenge. Right now, it is not challenging at all in most places and we have to do it again and again. This whole discussion is a symptom of failed promises. Sorry, I just had to vent this.

Edit: And yes, I do enjoy running those dungeons… It is the reward system I do not like.
