Personal guild bank space going away?

That’s kinda funny. I have already purchased all available bank tabs allowed on my main account. I would buy more but we are capped at 12 slots. Unlike other items in the gem store that say “you can buy only 1 more of these at this price”, you can continue to buy more bank tabs to your heart’s content (but you can only unlock 11 tabs on top of the 1 that comes with the core game).
If you can’t unlock anymore shouldn’t the item say “You have purchased the maximum amount of this item” like the nodes and other upgrades do?
It’s not like you can gift them :P

I need like 20,000 more influence to get the Deep Cave before HoT is in full swing.

If you and a buddy can kill all the enemies in it by yourself then I am guessing, yes. I imagine that it will be challenging as it is supposed to act as a bonding experience for guilds. You might be able to get a bunch of people to temporarily join up to help you depending on what rewards it offers.

But most personal guilds are strictly for the extra bank space.

It is not just a rebranding, it is changing how the currency is earned. Which means that personal guilds that are used for storage bank space may become a thing of the past (or Grandfathered) after HoT releases.

Guild Wars 2: Guild Halls Interview: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=36174

Paragraph at the bottom: “Speaking of guild missions, there are lots of changes coming to guild. Guild Merits are going away completely. Influence will no longer be earned after HoT launches, but will stick around for a while so that guilds can sink the influence they currently have into the new system. There is a new currency being introduced call Favor that will be rewarded from guild missions, but they didn’t go into what exactly Favor was going to be used for.”

With the announcement that Guilds will no longer be gaining influence will personal guilds no longer be able to uprgade their bank space? Will they still be able to uprgade using a different currency? Will that currency be able to be generated by only one user? If not, will we still be able to purchase upgrades using gold, laurels, etc.
These upgrades are usually time gated and so best to know now so we can plan accordingly.

Very true. If I decide to buy this expansion (and I am leaning on waiting for reviews) I will start a new account and get the full value. Sucks that I won’t be able to transfer all the accountbound stuff but I will have access to all my mats. Also having an extra 5 character slots and being able to have more guild bank space would be nice ….but I fear with them getting rid of influence they are going to make upgrading personal guild bank space harder or get rid of it all together

Speak with your wallets people. Wait for reviews of the expansion and determine if there is enough content to justify the $50+ dollars. (if you can demonstate the self control).

The price model is set to try to repeat the initial purchse of the core game. A majority of the money made will be from pre-purchases and sales within the 1st month of release.

Although I must admit, it feels like the a giant carrot (dangling guild halls in front of players) who will feel forced to buy otherwise be segragated from other members of their guilds if they choose to wait for the inevitable price drop.

I think I understand Anets reasoning… I am just, well …disappointed.

I guess then it is a good idea for everyone to spend their skill points (they aquired through natural leveling) for their alts at Miyani before the patch. Just keep the amount of skill points on each character that they have unlocked at skill challenges. (Number can be found on your Map [m])

Refund? Ha! Good one. Highly unlikely. Nor do I expect them to grandfather anything.

So for Alts… it is a matter of getting them to 80 before (or even after) the patch and doing 65 of the 189 skill challenges to unlock everything (of the core skills or traits). Unless you want to purposely keep an Alt at a lower level to farm certain items. (I am looking at you Silver Doubloons)

Good to note. Thank you. No sense in spending any more skill points to unlock any new skills then. Not when they will be converted into the new Spirit Shards currency.

Curious if skills you have already unlocked… Stay unlocked after the trait patch?
Mainly I am asking for my many alts that are not at level 80. I have unlocked certain skills and not others.
I am getting hints that the new system will unlock skills as a progressive tree. So will I loose skills I have already unlocked?

Last time there was a change to traits. I had taken a level 40 toon to a trainer and bought the training manual only to find out after the patch that I had wasted my money. All the traits were reset on my alt to unlock after doing a particular thing in game.

Thoughts?
