I just got the shoulder skin yesterday. I didn’t buy a single item from the trading post for it. I did the jumping puzzle lots and lots of times (completed the infinite achievement 59 times to get enough drinks from gifts).
I didn’t get it for prestige or to show off. I got it because it looks nice. I don’t care what other people think about it.
Whether someone payed a lot of gold to get the items from the TP, or earned it through hard work, is nobody’s business. People who complain about someone having a prestige item are just jealous. I do agree though, people who bot/hack/cheat to get such sought after items don’t deserve to have them.
The funny thing is I looked forward to getting the shoulder skin so I could stop farming the JP. When I got it I was like “what now?”. I was so bored I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the game so I decided to keep farming the JP LoL. Well I do have around 10k out of 100k drinks towards the Thirst slayer achievement. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Community#Thirst_Slayer I could make some gold off the drinks but decided I’ll use them and sell everything else.
After I got the shoulder skin I figured I’d get the T1 and T3 Norn cultural armor (I already had the T2). I spent over 70 gold on it and realized none of it I wanted to use. I decided to buy the Braham’s armor set, Lawless gloves and boots, from the gem shop and go with that instead. So I wound up with 22g left after getting the cultural armor and felt dumb for wasting all that gold. But on the bright side I completed the achievement for soul binding 18 pieces of Norn cultural armor which bumped me up to just over 8k achievement points.
Edited for typos.
You’re now farming jp for drinks and using them for the Thirst Slayer achievement??? Totally doing it wrong. With how much the Wintersday drinks are, you could sell just 1 drink to buy 50 more drinks that count towards Thirst Slayer.
I don’t know where to get the chest. Someone on map chat said it was in the mail. I did not receive anything of the sort in the mail.
I’ve played 8 games, yet only have credit for 5. People have been complaining about this in game too. Please fix this.
Probably memory limits. 250 fits in one byte vs. two bytes for 1000. I bet it’s declared as an unsigned int8 instead of unsigned int16.
From Patrick Wyatt on debugging games. He has some interesting things to say about GW errors too. So, please give the devs some a bit less flack.
There’s some good info and bad info here. Here’s the good news: your video card is fine. Here are the computers I play on:
1) Athlon II x4 w/ nVidia GT 430 – plays just fine on medium settings (30-40 fps @ 1920×1080)
2) Laptop with Core i5 3317U with Intel HD4000 graphics (redundant to mention I know) – plays just fine at medium settings (30-40 fps @ 1366×768)
3) Desktop with Core i5 2400S and Intel HD2000 graphics. Runs just fine at lowest settings (25-40 fps @ 1024×768)
4) Laptop with AMD E-450. Unplayable at any resolution even at lowest settings (3-13 fps).
OP, there are 3 problems with your computer in the order of importance as I see it:
1) You’re running a 32-bit OS. Video memory is mapped into system RAM space. So the amount of usable RAM is going to be much less than what you have. Install a 64-bit OS to mitigate this problem since the address space is so much larger.
2) GW2 is more CPU bound than GPU bound. Your CPU is decent. But if money is tight and you want a cheap upgrade, you should upgrade the CPU. Any quad-core AM3 CPU will do since they will work in AM2+ sockets such as your computer. The only issue is that you might need a BIOS update before you swap CPUs.
3) RAM is low, but if you don’t have a 64-bit OS, there’s not much else you can do because adding more won’t do anything. Also your system probably has DDR2 memory, which is very expensive nowadays. Getting 8GB is going to cost about $130, and for that amount of money you can get a new AM3+ motherboard + 8 GB RAM for less!
