This was really fun. I was completely shocked at the high turnout on short notice and everyone was really fun, posting jokes and passing out Jackalope Tonics (they look like bunnies with antlers) .
People clearly have strong feelings on this topic, and I truly want to believe an event like this will at least show up on the radar of those with the power to bring the ears back.

I’ll come to this tonight because I think this is a positive, community-driven way to show interest in something being added (or returned) to the game.
I truly hope ANET does something to enable all the people who want this item to buy it, even if it only comes back for one day or something.
Honestly I find it odd that we have a poster trying to tell another poster to stop posting. Maybe apply for a job as a community manager or something, otherwise it’s not really your place to moderate the forums.
Also complaining about bumping will, in fact, bump the thread. Doh!
Anyway, how about we discuss the actual topic at hand? I’m one of many, many people who would have bought ears if I knew they would be useable as a skin in the future. I’d really like a second chance. If people want to post about it, they will.
It stands to reason that A-Net would sell more ears now than before, since town clothes were generally unpopular compared to skins that could be used in combat.
So here’s hoping that the “Spring” patch on Tuesday has a pleasant surprise.
I’m sorry, that’s just kittened up. Bringing them back would just add on to the deceit.
I don’t agree that we can call this “deceit” because of the way ArenaNet worded the patch notes related to the streamlining of the gem store. The words they used leave open the possibility of removed items being available again in the future. “No longer available” just means “not available.” It doesn’t mean “will never be offered again” or “will never be purchasable on the trading post.” If they meant that the items were going to be gone forever, they could have added the word “permanently” to that post.
The tonics are arguably a new item anyway, since they differ from town clothes.
By the same token, the way some town clothes work as armor skins in the wardrobe (specifically head/helm items like Bunny Ears or Aviator Glasses) make them different from before and I know for a fact that – if we KNEW we could wear items like these in combat before – many people WOULD have bought them back when they were being offered.

People with the town clothes that became tonics have already been offered a refund anyway, so I don’t think they are being hurt by Arena Net here. I find this particular argument weird.
Additionally, again since the people selling them they got their refund and clearly do not want the item anymore any way so getting extra gold on the TP is a great deal for them considering the item would have been deleted otherwise. Plus if the seller were to price the tonic to be the equivalent of 200 gems or 400 etc they would cost between 20~40 gold. the item is no longer worth that due to the limited functions it has now. Since it cannot be mixed with other town clothes nor can it be dyed and it has to be carried in your inventory.
ArenaNet also reserves the right, as per the original agreement we all agreed to after installing the game, to change anything at anytime.

I just can’t see the problem if some people want to wear stuff like sunglasses or ears either. This isn’t an “authentic” feeling medieval or renaissance themed MMO, it’s very much a fantasy MMO with all kinds of extravagant outfits, including many animal-themed items (quaggan hats, quaggan back-backs, beanies, unicorn particle effects coming out of bows, etc.) and even steam-punk/mechanical items like magi-tek armor. If someone wants a more realistic or serious costume that’s fine, but people that want to have “fun” skins should get some love as well.
Games that sell skins usually do well when they offer a wide variety of options. Look at League of Legends for example. Like GW2, LOL offers skins for characters that range from serious to comical. It doesn’t take anything away from the game and it can make some people’s gaming experience more fun.
I think that it’s really likely that they will be put in the store this coming Tuesday (4/29/14) or the following Tuesday (5/6/14)
because according to the latest gem store post release in regards to the unlimited tools it is now officially the Spring season in game.

So lets hope they will be out then.
This time of year is when spring items were brought in the store last year so that’s reasonable to say. So maybe we will see them out within the next few weeks hopefully.
Along with other cute spring items I am really hoping for new minis to gift to my gf.
Maybe they are testing the waters. They brought back a Wintersday and Halloween costume so far. They might be checking to see the sales they get for the new system.
I really hope your right because if that’s the case I think we will be seeing them back pretty soon. =D
I’m really beginning to think that in mid May they will bring them back because it makes since for them to make their return then.
I completely support both swim suits and uniforms. I would buy both. Probably for both my account and my GF’s account.
However, I agree with the other posters here who want to treat them as separate issues. Mainly because the swim suits are FAR more popular and relevant to the current season (Summer).
It also seems like swim suits would be an easier goal for the developers due to the fact that the models are already in-game, as shown on many NPCs in South Sun Cove.
School uniforms are very cool as well, but they reflect a different aesthetic (more like anime) while swim suits are a very universal thing that would probably be met with much more praise from the community.
I know there are a few people who think swim suits are too skimpy or something, but if you really look at the armor that’s already in-game, there are TONS of items that are equally as revealing.
As for school uniforms, let’s save that for the Fall or something. It would go well with back-to-school events as the poster above me suggested. I am in complete agreement with Lydia Solace.
Oh, and while we’re on the topic of skins, I’d love more head gear like bunny or cat ears!

You can buy the new traits for gold + skill points. No need to do the events.
I actually liked seeing people active in large numbers again. I don’t think it’s such a bad thing to have to earn GM traits.
If anything, way too much in this game is handed to us automatically.
Oh and as for the other game mentioned, it looks great but very different from GW2. I don’t know if one directly replaces the other. One is very sand-box-ish and open world, while one is very theme park.
This isn’t a fan project or a charity, people paid money for the game and many pay for gems on a regular basis.
Since this is a business, and since the players are customers, they’re going to do what customers do to ALL businesses in ALL industries — complain when they’re not 100% satisfied!
Not everyone is going to like major changes to the game either. It’s expected.
What I personally do not understand is the desire to post here defending the game company. They do not need you to shield them from people’s criticism. While much of the criticism is useless or not constructive, some of it is actually important for the developers to hear so they can continue to improve our gaming experience.
Also, like I said before, they’re running a business. If they were just volunteers then sure, treat them extremely gently and don’t complain. However, since this highly lucrative service they are running actually pays their bills every month, I don’t feel that we owe them anything more than we owe a television company, our utilities, or our local grocery store.
That doesn’t mean people should be rude or insulting, but I don’t personally feel people need to go out of their way to be thankful for people doing their jobs. People tend to act like every patch is the game company going the extra mile for us, like it’s a favor. It’s NOT a favor, it’s something they do to keep us playing and spending money. If they never updated the game, it would die, and they would their jobs.
I hope this post doesn’t come off negative. I’m not hostile towards the makers of this game, or any game for that matter. I just don’t think we need to be particularly grateful for a company making smart business moves to keep us as customers. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, nothing more.
The game is not built to allow for healing or tanking as a dedicated/primary role for players. Your choices are damage-dealing or damage-dealing with very limited support abilities.
So unless they want to rework the game, these limitations will always exist. For better or worse, PVE is about killing kitten as fast as possible while keeping yourself alive using dodges and perhaps a few utility skills.
It just sorta is what it is. At first I really wished tanking and healing were more viable in this game, since I miss playing those roles, but it’s only going to bum you out if you keep thinking like that.
So stop worrying and learn to love the all-out DPS play-style.
I really want to see them back in the shop too there is still time. Next week the shop will be updated with spring themed items I imagine so make it the 7 day special please!! I am very very certain that it would bring in many many sales! Players absolutely want these we need more options to have fun in GW2!!
Ears are one of the most fun items in MMOs. I can name a handful of other games that has them for sale right now, so I hope GW2 will do the same.
I would buy them so fast! Please, if anyone who can make this happen or suggest that his happen is reading, lots of people want to buy cute ears! Bunny ears are ideal but in the future maybe even others could be released.
I am super disappointed that this didn’t happen in time for Easter, but as soon as they do get released I will be buying them, so my fingers are crossed for ears in the near future.
I completely agree. I know for a fact that some people really want these. I would buy the skin for sure and so would my GF.
They were released before, so they already exist, and now is the perfect time to make them available again.
