Easiest, most cost-effective way to level?

One way I use to level up my warrior is skillpoint hunting. You go into every zone and just go for the skillpoints. They are easily seen on the map, even in areas you haven’t uncovered yet and they are often a great way of testing how well you handle overwhelming odds. The xp gain is pretty nice too.

As for crafting, I think cooking is the cheapest one if you grind particular recipes in stacks of 25 instead of doing all the discoveries. The items you buy with karma are actually some of the cheapest things I’ve ever bought. There are 2 downsides though. many dishes can’t be sold, not even to npcs and some ingredients require you to fill a renown heart before you can buy from that npc.

According to in-game elitists, cooking is /the most expensive craft of all/. I guess it’s really subjective. I mean, if you know how to get money it’d be super cheap. But for those who are clearly monetarily incompetent, it’s near impossible. I got my cooking to level 27 on a character with just 10s. So I mean, eh. Guess it just depends.

Fair enough then. Well, I just transferred to Tarnished Coast, and I’m hoping things start to look up on there, perhaps I’ll end up finding more people to level with and what not – that really was the problem though. Like, “what’s the best way to level… without other people since I can’t find anyone”.

All the people on Eredon Terrace were either not very sociable or they were just very quiet even when helping. So yeah, really hoping the game gets a bit easier, and leveling starts to go more smoothly now that I’m on such a renowned server- both for friendliness and player population.

My whole problem is that I’m in a server where there’s generally no one to be seen, not a whole lot to do, or talk to people with/about, and so on. It just doesn’t have a very friendly feel for me, personally, as I sit in the 1-10 range. Was just hoping there was a way to break through that ‘newbie barrier’ and continue on to bigger and better things, and actually be able to thoroughly enjoy the scenery in later areas in the game.

Combat Mod?

Most online games discourage the use of any sort of in-game modification that is not first sanctioned by the admins or game masters. That is to say, changing the user interface VIA mod, adding in certain elements that could give you an unfair advantage VIA mod and so on. ‘Modding’ in the gaming community is typically seen as cheating, some people also like to call it ‘hacking’. In some games, it’s even prohibited to such an extent that it is illegal. I would advise against it, and if you see any videos of people using mods, you may want to contact a moderator or game master, and ask them why or how it got into the game, and what they can do to fix it- as a result, helping the rest of the community to continue enjoying a fun, safe, and fair environment.

Just wondering what I can do to level up without the ‘explore or craft’ stuff that I get from the tens of hundreds of elitist players in this game.

In other words, I’d like to know what an easy, effective – totally cheap – way to level is. Such as what events I may find here or there, and if they’ll be better for EXP than others; what story scenarios will be available, easy enough, and won’t get me killed constantly, and so on. Generally anything that is more specific than “walk around all day, noob”.

Thanks in advance.

@Eatyourwar – I am sorry that you did not find our group to be what you were expecting and I was online during your time in chat so I did see the conversation.

Operation:Union is not about hand-outs of money and mats and we have never advertised ourselves as such. We are a group that believes in offering help where it is needed but this is help with exploring, levelling, WvW, Dungeons – basically whatever people need in order to understand and appreciate the game. We are about having fun, not rolling a character and crafting it straight to 80 with mats or money that you receive from other people.

Like I said, I am sorry that you did not find what you were looking for with our group, we wish you well with your adventures in Tyria.

To be frank, it wasn’t so much about what did or did not happen. You saw the behavior, obviously, and if you can’t see what was wrong with it, then I pity you.

They made it very clear they weren’t joking, Glitch. It went from people trying to help, to people telling others off, criticizing and so on. I’m thoroughly disappointed with the behavior, as they were acting like 15 year old children. I explained to them that where I come from, in my communities, we help no matter what the players need help with when we hit max level. Whether it be giving them money, materials, or whatever else. They went on to tell me that I apparently know everything, etc.

I only received actual help from a few people, one of which gave me a bit of money to go on, another whom helped with NPC locations very in-depth. I should mention that they went on to call someone annoying after that person left, and while this is partially true, it was still extremely rude, and I was offended by their blatant behavior.

I have never on any other game ever experienced such an intolerable, unfriendly community. I met less than 4 ‘nice’ people. I am severely disappointed, just thought I’d report in and let everyone know how joining the community went.

Going to find another guild and another community entirely; perhaps there I won’t have half the online players attempting to criticize me and how I play the game. Lol.

@Gilosean – I would really appreciate the help if you’d be willing to do so. I’ve met far too many ignorant people to continue dealing with the community otherwise. I’ll also need to remake that Ele, because I decided after that terrible experience that I was going to stop playing until I could get up the incentive to actually play and attempt to find a good guild.

Name: Eatyourwar
Main Characters: Sylyras / Varals – Sylvari Ele / Asuran Engineer – 6 / 3.
Current Server: Eredon Terrace
Interested Activities: Party-oriented PvE, PvP, WvW, Dungeons, etc.
Active: Whenever I feel like playing; -7 GMT (Canada)
Additional Comments:

Having a relatively difficult time staying alive and what not since I’m doing almost everything solo; as a result, I get mobbed pretty hard, and the stronger creatures have a tendency for gobbling me up like mince meat.

That said, I’m generally trying to focus on gearing/party questing. Events, helping NPC’s, etc. Anything that’ll level me up fast, or allow me to get stronger gear. That way I can get into the PvP aspect a lot more quickly, and follow that up with/hold preliminary to dungeon-running and WvW.

I would like to focus more on my Engineer, but my Elementalist has proved quite useful; either way works, depending on what’s easier, really. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

And as for joining a guild, I would like to, however, I’m not one for complicated measures being taken for.. simple things. That said, if anyone is in the aforementioned guild and would be able to send an invite, it’d be appreciated – or Glitch could contact me in-game, and invite me. ~_~ Either way.

I’d also appreciate any and all tips, hints, tricks, etc. that could be offered as I am new – as a whole – to Guild Wars. The type of person, mind you, who can’t be arsed to go back and play original games unless they’re better than the sequels – in which this is not the case here. Or so I would assume, as most computer games are… rather lackluster in their earlier days.

Rambling aside, thank you once more in advance, and hopefully this all works out.
