They’re making the same mistakes that Blizzard and countless other game developers make. They make sweeping changes, and then without enough consideration they make other knee jerk changes to compensate for them.
Deleting the game is not the same. The account is still there.
I am tired of dealing with your rude tech support and your entire unprofessional company. I am requesting that my account be closed. Your tech support is condescending, and you delete my threads here with NO response whatsoever. If you will just close my account, that will be the end of it.

Lol at everyone attacking me now for poking fun. You know kitten well that $500 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on this game already and probably could have been better spent elsewhere.
Honestly, the level of complaining and overreacting is so over the top it’s hilarious and embarrassing at the same time.
You seem to have a comprehension problem. That’s what’s embarrassing.
I comprehend quite well actually. Especially the part where there are more important things in life and games should not be taken so seriously. T
Then why are you even here discussing them if you have more important things to do?
GREAT communication. Community managers now exist to hush the populace while waiting for the storm to subside and get back to business as usual. GREAT work.
I’ve never felt so thoroughly alienated by a game company. I’m done with ArenaNet. Enjoy the $500 plus I stupidly spent in GW2, plus whatever I spent in GW1 since 2005. Unfortunately I can’t apply for a refund because I stupidly pre-purchased this “thing” on April 10.
Goodbye.

Is it too much to ask to try and form a coherent thought instead of calling others children while acting quite immature yourself?

Yes, I stopped enjoying the game due to the complete change in design focus. The reasons why are out there in thousands of posts, including my own.
I will be glad when the people who have stopped playing this game move on to another game’s forums.
I moved on to this one from all the other same old MMOs, but suddenly this one started turning into the same old thing they were. Forgive me for saying I liked it the way it was.
Or maybe, pretty much all that needs to be said, has been said? There’s pretty much nothing more constructive coming out of that thread.
Nothing constructive was coming out of the thread because ArenaNet refused to give a constructive reply.
A constructive reply was made, you just didn’t see it.
I saw the reply, but it wasn’t constructive, so don’t tell me what I saw.

This game will go the way of every other that tries to copy the same old tired formula. Everyone has to learn the hard way it seems.
I received the quite condescending reply from support about my refund request, and I told them exactly what I think of their company in no uncertain terms. The fact that they closed the other thread with no response of any worth shows exactly how much they care about their players.
I propose a new condition called gear rot, which will destroy your gear if you dont upgrade it to the next tier in time.
And you need the new exciting stat, Entropy resistance, or it happens even faster.
Thanks for the link to the survey. I let them know exactly what I thought of all of this.
I requested a refund because their design focus changed completely from what was described for quite a long time. Because I pre-purchased it, they told me I was past the 6 month deadline. They’re basically penalizing people who supported them, even though a pre-purchase meant they didn’t actually have the game, and it hasn’t actually been released for anywhere near 6 months. This company became such a disappointment so quickly, and I’m done with them, refund or otherwise.

Male Asura sure are cute!
Seriously, this information is only available on a stream about a pvp map and nowhere else. How difficult is it to just to post this information on the site, forums, Twitter, Facebook, etc.?

So, when is the patch actually happening today then?
I am trying to create a new character, but the name i have been using in EVERY game and has never ever been unavailable, is now unavailable….do i need to choose a different server or is the name availability unique to all servers?
thanks
Yes, the names are unique across all servers. Only one person is allowed to have a given name.
thanks for your response. So we cannot use numbers, so i need to create some horrible name just to play? The whole point of being in an MMO is creating the name you want…if there are 10 million people playing and ALL must have unique names, then there is literally no good names available?
i guess i will be left with a name that looks like a gold farmer… awesome job! i am so excited for all of these surprises after buying the game…just awesome….
Well, you can have spaces and all up to a certain number of total characters (counting the spaces), so you can be This Means Nothings, ThisMeans Nothing, etc., although I can’t recall the exact number of characters allowed off-hand.
great, and now i find out that since i already selected a server, even though i have not yet finished character creation, i have to wait 7 days to try to get my name on another server? are you serious? I am also quite upset that after paying $60 for this game, i cannot join my friends server……. seriously? these are both MMO firsts… never heard of these limitations…
No, only one person can have a name in the entire game. It doesn’t matter what server. Just pick your name and transfer later. Unless I’m misunderstanding you.

Just wanted to say that on my server (Vizunah Square) you do not hear many whining about the Ascended gear in game, except for those who do nothing but WVW.
Also yeah, i hope the dev do not forget that those who are happy with the new content unfortunately do not post often (like me) we prefer to play which is i think one way to testify our love to your game so keep up the good work.
I’m not happy with the idea of Ascended gear, and I didn’t post until it was revealed, so this really goes both ways.
The post by Shaenari in this thread put it quite well I thought:
I am new to MMOs….i have loved this game so far. Why is the new gear such a bad thing? Is it because everyone worked so hard to get exotics and now its obsolete? I just dont understand why having more armor options is a bad thing. Please don’t respond with an attitude….just asking an honest question.
No offense, but there are thousands of posts explaining why in this thread.
I still fail to see whats wrong with having RPG mechanics like item progression (which the game allready has by the way) in an RPG if you guys dont like RPGs why not play MOBAs or FPS or almost any other genre which diesnt have RPG mechanics?
You could try reading some of the thousands of posts in this thread. That might help.
Also, you will receive your new gear* in exchange for tales of you great deeds in the Fractals of the Mists. Simply report to Trahearne with news of your exploits, and he will gladly tell everyone of his successful campaign against these new foes. After all, he sent you into the unknown depths after giving a speech and all that, so we truly have him to thank!
*Be on the lookout for the new Trahearne rarity type in future updates! Note, legendary gear will not be upgraded.
Dear all people who dislike this change…tell me how 2-5 stats will effect your wvw or PvE experience? By that mark why aren’t you complaining that legendaries have a 1 damage point increase on exotics…clearly that 1 point of damage is making all the difference.
Try reading the countless replies before your own before asking for something that’s already been given.
That blog just made me a long time gw2 player. Thanks so much. Theres one thing GW2 lacked is end-game, for us who like to strive towards more power. To the rest who cant or dont have time, then dont. You can still enjoy the game, my goodness…relax.
Awesome update
It isn’t a matter of can’t or a lack of time for a lot of people who have enjoyed this game quite a lot up until this point and were looking forward to continuing to do so with new content. If you would actually try and read people’s opinions instead of dismissing them and telling people to “relax,” then you would realize they’re trying to still enjoy this game. This goes against the spirit of the game that ArenaNet spoke of repeatedly throughout the development process. That’s the problem for a lot of people.
Jesus, the complaining, moaning and crying. This topic makes me question the age of most of the players in Guild Wars 2.
To be one apart from the bandwagon, I’m happy to see somewhat of a huge update. It keeps things interesting, in my opinion.
Instead of taking into account why a lot of people are unhappy with this, and there are many plainly written and legitimate reasons, you simply dismiss the whole thread with the now common message board platitudes saying everyone is “crying” or whatever. I don’t think you should be questioning anyone’s age.
If I wanted to play an MMO like all the others out there, I would still be playing one of the many that were out there before. I wouldn’t have waited all this time for this one based on the claim that it would be different.
Has it been reminded that ArenaNet didn’t actually write either article? Today’s news was a sneak-peek provided by other companies…
ArenaNet linked to the Massively article on their Facebook, so they’re endorsing it.
They are only letting people know that the interview was done and that there is news. Just like everyone wanted. If they were to be responsible for the wording, it would be posted on their own website, just as it will be in 3 days!
If they’re spreading around links containing misinformation, then they deserve the backlash. The fact that they’re not reinforcing it or denying it allows us to simply work off the information that was presented to us.

It really showed a lack of forethought on their part to allow these articles to release with such vague information. They are really doing themselves a lot of harm by not saying anything else. It was quite a long time ago they mentioned the blog post, and then nothing.
I hope this isn’t as bad as it seems, but based on that bit of information alone, that does seem to go against what they said they wanted for the game before. Also, locking this gear behind dungeon content is even worse than simply adding more powerful armor. I really don’t like that at all. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but on the surface, this is really making me question where they’re going in the future.
