If you are getting email requests that you authenticate a login, there are two potential situations:
1) someone is sending fake authentication requests in an effort to get you to click on something you shouldn’t to try to compromise your account
2) Your account is ALREADY at least partially compromised because someone is apparently in possession of your user name and password.
In case 1, you should try to deal with it as best you can by checking headers and where links really go to make sure you’re looking at a real email from GW2.
In case 2, you shouldn’t ignore it on the premise that they can’t get past the two-factor authentication. It’s a sign that something has gone wrong and you need to change your password and try to figure out why they have it.
Obviously it’s too late for that to help much for this particular situation, but it’s an important thing to keep in mind for the future (both on GW2 and for other types of accounts with similar security setups).
I always wondered: if you never authorized those requests (and you use different secure passwords for email and GW2 accounts), how can someone log in with your account and rob it?
If you’re using email as your secondary form of authentication, there’s always a chance that the reason you got hacked to begin with is that your entire computer has been compromised, so both your email and GW2 accounts are compromised (whether they use the same login info or not).
It’s somewhat more secure, for that reason, to use a secondary form of authentication that’s never accessed on the same computer as the GW2 login is done (ie use the mobile authenticator or use an email client that you never access on the same machine — or at least not within the same operating system).
Section 9 of the user agreement says only one user is permitted per account and no one else may ever access it.
It’s up to you and your friend whether you risk it, but the rule says you can’t do that.
I have got hacked for 2 times, is that a reason why I got banned?
I’m not GW2 support, but there’s a very good chance that if someone hacked your account they then did things with your account that violated the rules. They typically use hacked accounts to carry out illegal transactions because they don’t care about whether YOUR character gets locked out.
If you’ve been hacked twice in a week, something is very very wrong. If you changed your password and made sure that you used a secure one, your computer itself may be compromised. You should take a really close look at what’s going on that’s causing your account to be so easily accessed by the hackers so that you can fix the problem, not just for GW2, but also for anything else that is happening on the same computer (or any other accounts that you may be handling in a similar way regarding usernames and passwords).
If you get your account re-activated and you don’t have the two-factor authentication features in place, that’s something you should definitely pursue.
