So… I recently came back to GW2 playing it for hundreds of hours a couple years ago.

Here’s my impression: it’s virtually impossible to level without the mindless grinding of mobs WITHOUT events/hearts attached to them.

The event focused progression makes sense when there’s tons of people on the maps. For people trickling in after the “gush” of new players/returning players the new zones are dead. So we are stuck with empty maps with no real effective way to level masteries.

I’ve spent the last 5 hours tonight trying to level one single mastery. I’ve gotten to about 20%. Every time I hang glide to an event I find there’s no other players and only npc’s getting killed. I tried relogging. I tried hoping zones hoping to get a populated zone. This is a serious flaw to the game. IGN noted in there review.

PLEASE FIX IT.

I’ve been having lag issues as well. When I bootcamp into Win 8 the lag issues are gone.

The lag issue isn’t resolved. It’s not constant, but once every so often I hit a lag spike. Doesn’t do it when I bootcamp so it’s something within the Mac Beta.

Thanks for the advice! I was running on full retina. I’ll try it other wise. The issue I was having with the map could have also stemmed from retina resolution.

Here’s what I’m using:

Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

Few performance issues I’ve encoutnered.

1. Black Lion Trading: sometimes does not load in Mac Beta.

2. LAG. This issue seems to be the worst. Consistently the game will have LAG where my character “stops” for ~5 seconds. This is a consistent issue. When I bootcamp into Windows I do not have this issue.

3. Map zoom is “laggy” as well. When I open the map and try to zoom in or out it takes about 3-5 seconds for the map to start zooming.

A Nice Addition:

Need an option in the Menu to have Functions keys to work as Function keys. On Macbook Pro’s you have to shut down the function keys in System Preferences in order to use them.
