Yesterday I stayed up pretty late to participate in the final phase of the lost shores event. When it finally started I was already tired. The first few parts of the chain were excruciatingly painful. I mean there was a point in the “help the demo squad install bombs” event where our whole freaking zerg died, except for two people (me and another dude called asky or something). It was at the top of the hive where you fight the half a dozen veteren krakas, 20-39 vetren young ones and a freakin champion that just rendered out of no where. I kited the champion down the hive while he rezzed the rest of our zerg. By the end of the event I was ready to face some epic boss and claim my reward, but no. I had to spawn back to beginning of the map where a new event chain had just started. This one was even more mind numbing than the one before it. I mean I enjoyed the parts where you had to throw the tree on top of the boss, and the one where you put the boulders inside the steam vent and the one with the rock slide. But there were two points where you had to fight reinforcements that were just absolutely ridiculous. It literally took ours to get through them, and they were in no way fun. The veterans gave no kill credit, so basically you couldn’t loot them or gain any exp from them, which is quite annoying as they’re actually quite tough to kill (not sure if this is a bug or intended). Forgetting the exp/loot, I thought that at the least all these kraka kills would count towards my monthly progress, but no. Any veteran kill turned out to be a waste of time. All this of course happened in the midst of extreme lags/spikes/render issues. By the time I reached the second reinforcement part I was almost asleep, but tried to keep going. At that point I dced and couldnt log in again (tbh I only tried to log in once, but I was too tired and frustrated to try again). All in all I feel I wasted a lot of time and peace of mind for nothing, which really defeats the purpose of the game and gaming in general.
Points that I’d like to raise now:
1- These long chain events are nice, but they really screw you over if you for any circumstance don’t manage to get to the final one. I mean people who just logged in at the last moment and whacked that stupid ancient a couple of times got their reward, whilst I who spent almost 2.5hours herding the stupid thing to it’s nest like a trained guard dog got nothing. A good work around for this would be to dish out the rewards when completing each part of the chain (maybe in the form of tokens that you later exchange to get to the reward).
2- Having to whack through kraka for hours is not fun. The parts where you had to kill reinforcements was just a bore. It took way to long and gave nothing in return due to lack of kill credit (again not sure whether if it’s a bug or intentional, but in any case it’s horrible).
If you got to here thanks for reading my wall of text. Please leave a comment if you had a similar experience, if not please leave your opinion.
Cheers,

Well instances would fix a lot of the lag/culling issues.
I thin there’s bug with veteran/champion kill credit with krakas. They give no money or exp at all. And the vast majority of the hordes we killed were veterans, and hence the problem. It sucks yeah I know.

Considering the map is being shipped with BETA status, I wouldn’t consider it proven from a competitive standpoint. I’m not saying it won’t ever be in the tournament rotation, just not right now. After talking to people, we aren’t considering the teleporting a bug. I also wouldn’t consider it an issue on the new map.
I wouldn’t consider it a bug either, except for the jumping through gates/walls part. It’s actually a strategic tool that a skilled person can use to his advantage. What I don’t understand is why the mesmer blink doesn’t function like any other blink out there? It’s quite annoying.
There is not a boss. It is another location you must commune with.
Ah so did they actually report it wrong, or did ANet change it in development?
From Massive’s Article:
" find buffs to meditate on and a powerfull boss; killing that boss will result in the killing team gaining ownership of all the capture points in the map."

Just out of curiosity where is everyone getting the info that there will be a neutral boss on that map?
The article never mentions it. Are there other sources of info about this map?
Yes there is. I actually didn’t know that it wasn’t mentioned in this article. Here is a link to the second article.

Ah pictures look cool. I actually have hopes for this map. Will probably be the best of the ones available atm.
This is just another smoke screen, they adding a new pvp map so pvp players calm down a bit and stop qqing. Its like throwing a bone to a dog, so he leaves you alone for a bit. They’re still not adressing any important issue or adding anything important, so it doesnt matter if they had a new map.
Chill. All we know is that they have a new map. We have yet to discover whether or not they’ve made any other meaningful changes. Relax until patch comes out.
To be fair I’m thankful that they added a new map. It shows that they’re actually hard at work trying to develop the game further. I’m pretty sure it will be fun for a while as it’s new and all, but I have to agree that a new game mode is desperately needed to spice things up in pvp.
I’m guessing there will be extra whining about thieves once this is out (not saying it’s not deserved). I think thieves will try to ninja the neutral boss, and I’m expecting they will be very successful at it. Also I’m given to understand that there will be a lot of platforms, so I think thieves will be able to get around quickly quite easily.
So just read the preview into the next patch and the new map sounds interesting. Apparently it will feature a lot of climbing and jumping, which I guess is interesting. On the other hand it’s still another capture map, so I’m not sure how much variety it will introduce. There’s a boss that gives the team that kills it control over all the points in the map. Wonder how that will work.

Being able to attack while invisible is a big fat no. Also the quickness coupled with the high dps and ability to close gaps and jump about like crazy is also a big fat no. Everything else is discussable
