Well, it’s, as I said, mostly meant for Fractals, T4 & daylie rec.
So you say, Revenant is very good for pugging those?

And, I know it’s the Rev and not Engi Forum, but is Condi Engi really that bad outside of Raids?
And Power Engi?

After all the talk here, I’m pretty discouraged about ever touching Rev again…
Started again in Feb, used my 80 boost for a Rev, but I was completely discouraged with all the bad talk about it.

Now after spending some time on Metabattle, I always wonder, how is Revenant considered Meta for Fractals, where Necro isn’t. And why?

Is it worth going, if I run 99% Fractals?
I would go for Staff / Hammer, whatever I need, and Sword / Shield – Shield because I really dig the added survivability.

If it’s just…well, kitten on metabattle, I think I will stick to my plan, Condi Engi or Zerker – Support Druid (with Warhorn tho).

So, for T4 Fractals – is Revenant really that good to run, or nah?

Well, I crafted Warhorn in 2014, back then it was quite a lot of work, that’s why I want tot stick to it that much.

And I do enjoy playing Ranger / Druid, I wouldn’t choose it, if that wasn’t the case..

So, going Druid – for Fractals full Zerker, with Staff + S/WH is a viable choice, even for T4?
Magi’s equipment & Viper’s for raiding?

In Fractals it would be highest possible damage with Zerker’s (considering I use warhorn instead of axe) and it’s more or less supportive?

Considering my Ad Infinitum is ready soon, I’m looking for a class to level, that I will make full use of it + my Howler.

So, I look for a class, that could do 2 out of the following 3 roles.
Healer, Condi & Power DPS.

The first thing, that comes to my mind now, is ranger, especially Druid.
It’s DPS may not be the highest (with Power) but it really helps out with buffing, occasional healing and still maintaining the DPS.
+ i have a Condi and a Full Healer build for raids.
There’s also Necro I could go for, but I already had 2 in my history, but I always ended up finishing the elite and then deleting it after a while.

TL;DR: Is a Power / Support Druid (Full Zerker) worth going for in T4 fractals, using sth like S/WH + Staff or A/WH + Staff?
Ele is the last pick I thought about, but I can’t really stand the ~10k HP…
Will wipe me most of the time, I think ^^’

That’s what I came up with by now, can it be used as a general support / dps build?
I could improve it further, by using Leadership, and for tanking – if I ever want to – can change my Rings etc (it’s the Living World stuff) to even more Commander -> more Toughness + more Concentration, e.g. for 100% boon duration.

Would it work like this for fractals, even without the Leadership runes and without the expensive buff food?
Should I keep the Sharpening Stones for more Power, or am I better off with using the Oil for increased Precision?
(Don’t wonder about the infusions, ofc I will use the +9 and +7 variants of it.)
Oh, and – Power of Precision infusions?

If I only put the Sigill of Concentration on the Mainhand, and only use the Sword in one slot, second slot is only off-hand, does it still trigger on swap effects?
Or do I have to get 2 Sigils and put them onto the off-hand?

Focus is not the only off-hand I will use, of course I will have another sword – maybe get and Greatsword or alike, for passages I really need to range (Volcanic for example, can’t stand melee on that boss..)

An insight just hit me and I decided, it would be best for me to go for a Mesmer, after Warrior and Guardian.
Caster, light armor, Sword + Shield (got those delicious Nightmare Frac weapons)
But I still have to level him up.

Now, I’m using that infamous leveling build on that board, using S/S or S/F + Staff and it’s already lots of fun.
Any recommendations, on which traitlines to use for leveling?

Second, I have quite a lot of Ascended Light on my Necro and I’m willing to change stats on it for my Mesmer – now I can’t decide, which stats to choose?
It says Berserker, with Commander leggins and Leadership runes etc..
Now, Leadership is quite hard to get by and it also says, I am completely fine with 4x Traveler + 2x Platinum Doubloon?
And how is Ministrel, compared to Berserker?

I’d like to Tank some day in raids, doing Fractals up to 100 (so…all) and lots of open world. Is there a setup, I can use for all of that stuff?

Would highly appreciate your input on that topic!

Now that my Guardian fully ascended and I’m rolling T4 and Recommended Fracs every day, I want to come back to my roots, namely the first character I ever played in GW2; Engineer.

Working towards a Viper / Sinister build, the regular Meta one for Fractals and Raiding, so far I’m really getting the touch concerning kit changing etc.

But for Open World (Map completion, Meta Events etc) I really want to go my own Power build.
Maybe something like HGH with hammer?
Nothing too fancy, not too much kit changing, more like having Elixirs and Utilities, that support my desired “Engi smash” playstayle, preferred 100% hammer camping. Maybe with Elixir or Flamethrower and lots of utility / survivability for myself?
Can’t find a proper Power build that, maybe you got a idea / build for me or help me make one out?

Anyway, you’re right about that, but I’m not even close to finishing the collection on my Guardian and Warrior, so I’m left with drops (I’m not lucky with drops, beside my Howl precursor) or crafting.
And crafting sounds much more reasonable in my Opinion.

Well, I just looked it up and I’m def not gonna salvage those.
The Wiki says, stats can be chosen freely, so doing it with my Necro & Guard provides me Viper weapons easily – Dagger & Scepter, already have Howler, so no need for another Condi weapon.

Next week, on tuesday, I will have enough to craft at least my first ascended axe, when I finished the collection, I wil have another one to break those mats out.
The collection is really fair, tbh, only the last step frightens me – Gift of Metal and Gift of Wood, just to show it to someone?…kitten.
Are those changed afterwards? Or can I use them, to craft, say, Twilight or Rodgort?

I will go for an ascended axe, as I will craft one for my necro anyway – little more expensive than daggers, but I don’t want to waste my laurels for multiple recipes.

All in all, I need to salvage 2 axes and get enough orbs from salvaging the Backpieces i earn?

I see in all the collections, i need 3 Prototype fractal capacitors?
Isn’t it enough to get one and just upgrade a single one?

After finishing Howler 3 years ago, i decided to focus on another legendary.

Considering, I’m leveling a Necro atm, I can make good use from Ad Infinitum & Howler, as I can use both on some classes + i can stat change (Condi & Power on Necro).

Now, I know i will need a kittenton of Fractal Relics, Pristine Relics, Matrices and Dark Orbs (thingy from salvaging Armor)
But: how many ascended armors should i craft to salvage? I know i will salvage the pre thingys for Orbs, but am I correct, that i have to craft 2 armor pieces to salvage? And get the remaining orbs from salvaging the precursors?

And, I purchase the Backpiece for 1350 relics, how often do I have to upgrade it? What’s the cost for upgrading that backpiece alone?

Tl;dr: can you guys give me a complete Material breakdown? (on mobile now, that’s why I can’t use efficiency) and some tips / advices when focusing Ad: I ?

Concerning Scepter, it seems like it’s outdated now?
Scepter is cool, but I’m digging Sword veeery much.
Is it worth, using Sword + Focus / Torch & Greatsword now?
Greatsword for the big bursty numbers, Sword + X for either burning or personal defence with Focus?
So long it works good in low fracs and open world PvE, but I don’t know if it’s viable or nah.

What’s the difference with applying Burns between Scepter / Torch and Sword / Torch?
I would run Sword / Torch + Greatsword as Main weapons, other weapons I still have are Longbow, Scepter and Focus and I’ve read everywhere, that Scepter / Torch is the Main weapon for Burning?

Well I’m talking from a mainly PvE standpoint..

Not only the Symbol. Whirling Wrath has been increased by 20% as well, the major damage comes from melee damage now (has been seperated).

My Guardian is facing 80 now (nearly 72) so the time will come soon to test it properly – have a full set of ascended Armor, Trinkets etc + Exotic weapons!

I’m having a blast now as well. Works much better as before the patch

What about the GS now in Fractals?
I guess, it’s not that viable in Raids still, but in Fractals it was quite a good choice for burst.
With the reduced CD’s on Wrath, Leap and higher Damage on the Symbol + Symbolic Avenger, wouldn’t it make it a viable choice now?

The point with my thoughts is, that I want to maximise damage as much as possible, as power necro is still considered weak, so I want to play it as strong as I possibly can.
Scholar is out for me then, because I think I won’t have a high uptime from the 10% damage buff.
Superior Rune of the Flame Legion is out aswell, as I don’t have a reliable source of Burn. (will work dope on the Guardian, tho!)
I will go stength then, as it icreases the damage on a regular base by 5%.

Just wasted my whole money on Zerker Earrings and 1 ring, already have ascended Trinket, Ring 2, Backpiece and Howler as Warhorn.
Axe and Greatsword are exotic as well, tonight / tomorrow I will start grinding CoF 1 & 2 and spend some Karma, to get full exotic Zerker gear, then head right into Fracs.

Maybe I will sell some T6 Mats to get my Tailoring to 500, but kitten is it expensive. I wanted to craft Frostfang, but it’s not used by a lot of my 80’s, I need ~900k Karma and the precursor – I prefer upgrading my fractal knowledge thingy first.

Is that build okay like this?
I changed the trait to support Axe’s damage and CDR, but can be changed of course.
I tried to focus a bit on that Bleed-Chill thingy that adds quite a bit of damage?
Should end up in more damage, than faster Attackspeed and reduced CD in Reaper’s Shroud?

What do you think about Rune of Strength?
I’m not sure, if I can upkeep that above 90% health in a reliable way, to make use of those extra 10% damage..

And the Sigilis. Is 7% Crit and 5% more damage the way to go? Or is there something better for Fractals?

And last but not least, of course Elite and Support skills will be changed, those will just be the ones, I focus the most on. Especially in Open World they seem reasonable.

For example, for boss fights I will switch to Flesh Golem.

That’s a build I came up with now.
I used the Dungeon build and…somehow…twisted it with the Raid build, should be fine I think? They don’t differ that much.

Main weapons S+T / Hammer, having a Utility / Open World GS and LB, as well as a Shield and Scepter + Focus.
I think, the Torch is a more valuable option, as this builds focuses a lot on Burning Damage as well as direct damage, so rendering the Shield quite worthless.
I like the Shield, but I see, it only has it’s niche uses, as well as the Greatsword.
Sadly, Longbow is completely worthless atm…

But, I also really enjoy playing S+T / Hammer! It’s so much fun and leveling is quite fast as well.

Maybe some input, what to change, what is complete bullcrap etc?
And the infusions…well, yeah, I took the Vitality ones, as I’m not used to playing a squishy – I know, Guardians have a lot of things to mitigate damage, but not even 12k HP is not that much. Maybe other gear, I can use?
Shouldn’t Valkyrie + the Sharpening Stone equal in roughly the same damage?
And to sum it up; I’m using that strange Valkyrie / Berserker necklace (the small stone figure from the Laurel vendor) as I already purchased that on my Warrior.

TL;DR: Would that build be viable for High Level Fractals and Raiding?

I’ve read quite a few times now, that Valkyries ends up in higher damage than Zerker’s, is that correct?

I have an ascended Greatsword with Zojja stats, so that should be enough, but Howler can be changed to Valkyries anytime and I will craft a new Axe / Dagger anyway.
Some other things, you advice?
Btw, when will “Rise!” and “Chilled to the Bone” be a better pick than Flesh Golem?
(I’m not sure, was “Rise!” an Elite?)

Last but not least, what’s the easiest way to get my hands on Viper’s trinkets? Is it correct, you can only get them in Raids, or is it just the ascended Version?
+ where does the Staff belong? Mostly WvW & PvP? On Condi or Power?
I think it is better used on a Condi, am I right?

So Hesacon, you tell me, I should just go with what I feel like?
Axe / Dagger + Warhorn & Greatsword should be completely fine then?

I got Howler, so first thing that came to my mind was Tempest, but I can’t stand being so incredibly squishy..
Necro, Power Necro is amazing, Greatsword + Dagger / Axe & Warhorn is so much fun.
But it’s damage is flatout bottom line and just complete garbage..
Ranger with Sword / Warhorn + Staff as a Healer would be a thing, but I trade ALOT of damage for that little stuff Warhorn offers.

Then we have Mesmer, I love playing tanks and Mesmer is interesting, but beside Sword, his weapons are just “meh”
Guard has awesome weapons AND is lots of fun, but I lose using Warhorn AND Greatsword so…yeah…. ^^’
I’m quite salty concerning what my Main will be.
Considering, I love playing Necro, I think I should just stick with my Power Necro, but I don’t want to play a build, where I never get invited to ANYTHING..
Another pro for Necro, I always keep my Warhorn, as Viper Necro also goes with Warhorn.

It’s sad, how balancing teams are completely ignoring the most interesting classes and weapons and favor like 90% AA damage, it’s so dull.

Revenant? Dead.
Guardian with INTERESTING weapons? Dead.
Power Necromancer? So dead it’s beyond undead.

I’m sorry for my saltyness, but I came back, thought I’d see some improvements after 4 years of Zerker meta and it became even more dull.

But, ignore the above:
I have a group of Guildies around, so I don’t have to worry about being kicked from parties – tho, how big is the actual tradeoff in damage with Sc / Sw + Torch in comparison to GS / Sw + Torch?
Because on Metabattle, Sw / T + GS is listed as the only Fractal build for Guardians atm. At least on Metalevel

After running around in different Boards here, I came to the conclusion, that Guardian would fit my needs the most, as I already have Warrior & Rev on 80 and can easily share armor between those.

Now, I’m mostly interested in Fractals, maybe sometimes a Raid.
I had a pause from that game for about 3 Years and base my opinion solely on
Metabattle.

I know, that Greatsword didn’t used to be the best for higher Fractals, due to the Boon Thieves stealing Retaliation and wiping the whole party in a short time – after looking it up now, I found out, those were taken out of Fractals, does that mean, Greatsword is now viable for higher Level fracs?

My idea would be Zeal, Radiance, DH, collection some weapons to react on different siutations.
Mostly Greatsword, Sword, Torch / Shield, Hammer for Raids and Longbow for Open World content, if I like to use it Solo.
Is Scepter still the Main option for High Level fracs, or can it be replaced by the Greatsword now?

Edit: Wouldn’t GS + S/T make sense with Marauder’s, Viper’s over Berserker’s ?
Marauder’s for more survivability and little less Damage (roughly 5% i think?) or Viper’s for the added Cond damage?
GS + S/T adds a lot of burning with the Traits, I’m a bit confused tbh

Basically, Necro trades in “some” (it’s like 10-12k roundabout?) for higher survivability in the form of tons of shtload of HP?

And I got it that far, he’s not preferred in Raids, as my buffs are quite selfish and my damage isn’t on par with other classes.
I’m cool with that, as I will craft myself a set of Vipers, Dagger Focus + Dagger (Scepter?) Warhorn for a Condi build – or doesn’t Condi have a raidspot aswell due to low damage?

Tl;dr: it’s still viable to go Power / Condi Reaper for Fractals, whereas I can run the power thingy for Level 50 Fractals? And the Axe is an okay-ish option, if there’s only/mostly single target?

I’m leveling my soon to be Reaper at the moment and I really like to play with Warhorn and eventually greatsword.
As I already have a PS Warrior for Raids, he will be my go to for Fractals – Power Reaper btw.

I know, already read that everywhere, but do you have some actual numbers, how much worse the Axe is compared to Dagger?
Factored in, that 50% of the fight i will sit on that GS and use Gravedigger as a Semi execute.
I’m not really into Daggers – I’m using one all the time now, and the Warhorn is so much joy to play – but is there, somehow, a way to use Axe?

I don’t to aim for Fractals 50+, it’s more for fun. If i ever decide to run high Fractals, I will surely craft myself a Viper set.

Sorry, for offending you, i asked for viability of the different roles.
I know, what skills to use as a ps, the only class i have fully maxed out.
If I really want to go raiding, and People, even bad pugs, only care about “meta” i can fully pass on going there.
Or just drop the Howler, it’s not like I go to bed and cry just because I can’t use it.

I just value it very high, for all the time I spent on getting it, therefore I don’t want it to gather dust, that’s the only thing i have with it going.

And to be exactly, I asked for advice, not that I know better or have any experience at all. I just got started 2 Weeks ago after being gone for like 3 years, back then it was completely fine to go GS + Axe / Warhorn for Dung + Fracs, I only read guides now, as it’s called “Metabattle” and I saw ADVICES on that Guide, which us btw a META guide, that said, Warhorn is completely fine, at least in Fracs. Also noted that in one of my answers, as I have no experience AT ALL with raiding and appreciate any kind of help / advice people give to me, so thanks to Vinceman here.

Edit: sorry, if you feel offended now nagr, I just put a lot of work into that Howler in my rare spare time beside university, when I see it gathering dust, it’s just different for me.
And I didn’t actually mention my skills on warrior, but the Zerker tree is already maxed out. I’m running Precision (?! Iirc) 2 Banners, if there’s another warrior 1 Banner + For Great Justice most of the time, for elite I use head bash.
I have exotic Zerkers Shield, Bow (was a thing back then to create own fire fields) and Mace, my Main MH is an Ascended Axe, so i got it covered pretty good.
And my build is, beside Warhorn, EXACTLY the Meta for Fractals – as I said, i have no experience whatsoever with Raids, that’s why i asked for advices & viability.

I based it on a Meta build that can be found on Metabattle (I think I can’t post links here? ) it’s for Fractals and the build says, Offhand can be Warhorn as well – due to it being able to blast firefields.

I’m sorry for answering now, had quite a stressful week at University.

I’m playing my Revenant, just crafted the first Ascended Piece (Chest), but I’m not quite sure, if I want to continue, as Revenant is quite a…hated class in /m and I really want to do at least Fractals.
Not sure if I will have the time anymore for raiding, but at least Fractals are doable.
That’s why i thought about going back to warrior, GS + Axe / WH, Phalanx Strength is very desired and i can still use my Howler.
Tho, it’s quite bland imho, and I thought about going Necro with Dagger + Warhorn / Greatsword, but it’s damage is just so low.

I’ve been gone from GW2 for 3 years now and decided to come back with HoT.
Back then, I had my Warrior, PS, and i was lucky aswell, having a Howl drop for me and I crafted the Howler.
I have a few Ascended Items already, namely backpiece, some rings, amulet, chest.

With the 80 Boost i boosted a Revenant, Sword / Axe + Staff and I’m doing some open world stuff with him atm.

Last character is a Necro I’m playing at the moment and I’m having a blast, I really want to go Power Reaper, as I saw a “great” Guide on Metabattle.
It’s using Dagger / Warhorn + Greatsword.

Now, somehow I want to stick to my Howler, so Warrior or Necromancer.
On the other hand, Mistward Armor looks dope, so Warrior or Revenant.
Should be an obvious choice, that I go Axe / Warhorn + Greatsword Phalanx Strength Warrior, as it’s also needed in Raids and Fractals.
Sadly, it’s so kitten bland to play, it becomes very boring after a short period of time already. (Warhorn on PS is also kinda doable, as it blasts firefields, too!).

What do you guys think?
Bite the bullet and just use the Warrior, maybe make it a bit fresher with a Frostfang?
Or is a Power Reaper / S+A Revenant more than enough, if I don’t go to town pugging?

Edit: Also read a few builds / guides on Metabattle, but it seems like I’m completely lost with the classes I have available beside the Warrior.

The Shield i get for becoming a herald, will it be “transmuted” when I earn Glint’s Bastion or are they two different items?
I’m not quite sure, if I can put my Sigill in the Exotic one, or should I spare it, until I have Glint’s?

Small update, upgraded my whole stuff to Zerker, at the moment crafting Ascended Zojja’s gear.
The damage difference to Soldier’s is amazing!
I really dig Sword / Shield + Staff combo

I already have a PS Warrior, but sadly, i crafted Howler (Precursor dropped for me in a Dungeon back in 2014)
The Meta builds even recommend, going warhorn, as it can blast fire fields as well!

I think, as soon as my paycheck comes in, I will get HoT and Boost a Rev to level 80.
Weapons, I aim for now are: Axe, Shield, Sword, Staff & Hammer. Maybe a legendary like Nevermore or Bolt, not quite sure yet. Does it take long, to finish the Questline to get Glint’s Bastion? Can’t really judge it, as I’ve never played the Addon.
Do I need any professions to craft it?

And in the End, I think, as the old guild I was in has been deleted, I will look for a casual, fun guild, where I will always find a Spot in Raids / PvE content, as Rev still provides many boons and Adds a LOT of might to the party – not sure, if he’s on the same level as my PS Warrior, but I will make it work.

I just came back after quite a while and I’m quite…..dunno, sad?
I used to play PS Warrior like 3 Years ago, GS + Axe / Warhorn and even grinded my Howler back then!
But now, I can’t use it any longer on him + there’s no PvE viable class that really uses it?

I decided to purchase HoT next month and boost a Revenant to 80.
Now i read some Metabattle stuff, and I’m very disappointed as Rev doesn’t seem to be that viable?
All I saw was a S/A + Staff build, Demon / Dwarf + Dragon.

Is it somehow possible to play him, at least, with a shield?
All i read about the axe, that it’s only used for the Teleport – would i still get invites and have enough damage switching to Shield?

And is the 2nd Staff that necessary for the infamous #5?
Or can there a Hammer be used instead / something else?

Tl;dr – What is a 100% no-no for PvE and what weapons can be build around Mallyx / Glint to make a somehow, just a tad bit, viable build?
