No perks for duo guild?

I want to address people saying that two people aren’t a guild. They are a guild, if they put in the effort to have guild things before, and work for it, and now it’s taken away. I’m part of a larger guild that has a guild hall and wants us to upgrade and is constantly in guild chat harping about “what we need now.”

I’m also part of a smaller two person guild, which might get a few more members when my cousin and her husband get HoT eventually. Who are ANY of you to tell us that we’re not a guild? 2 people guilds are guilds just like 400 people guilds are guilds. We had guild bank and other things before this change over, I haven’t looked to see if we still have it but, if not, we’re kind of screwed, because we can never get a guild hall or afford the upkeep on a guild hall.

There should be smaller guild halls for smaller guilds. It’s not like we’re asking for a whole city to ourselves. Just a small place to go that we can afford, and update, like we were doing.

No perks for duo guild?

I don’t think he’s saying he wants the SAME as a 200 person guild. What we’re saying is that for smaller guilds, which, yes, ARE guilds, even though your elitist attitude that you’re projecting can’t see it, there should be SMALLER guild halls that cost less. What’s wrong with having that? That’s what we’re saying.

So many things I disagree with in this thread

“I have morals so I don’t want to see people in bathing suits.” Uh…what’s wrong with people in bathing suits? Everything is covered. Do your “morals” keep you from going to beaches in the summer, or swim parks, and wearing swim wear yourself? It’s not like the minute someone puts on swimwear they are somehow “bad” people that “offend your morals.”

“This video is how girls feel about armor.” News flash, honey. -I’m- a girl and the first thing I do when I load Skyrim is get that mod to make ALL the armor less covering for females. I want something pretty, not something that feels like I’m tuna crammed into a tin can. This is a GAME. If your character wears a chainmail bra you have just as much chance to stay alive as someone wearing a full suit of armor that covers their entire body. This game is called “Fashion Wars” for a reason. As in, most of what people do is get outfits, dress up, and try to look good.

Let people dress their characters how they like. It’s not hurting anyone if they dress them in slightly less clothing than something you would put on your character. There are a LOT of clothes that cover the entire body in this game, but not a lot of clothes for the people who like to wear less on their characters unless you’re a light armor female.

Swimsuits will be a welcome addition to Fashion Wars, I think. I wish other people would try to stop putting their “morals” and “how women feel about armor” on everyone as if they speak for everyone in the entire world. Swimsuits are fine, they are no less immersion breaking, as someone said, than a giant cat with Macaw wings and purple hair in rainbow colored armor.

Oh and for the person who says this is “not an RP’ing game,” it totally is. There are lots of Rp’ers on here, they hang out in the hot springs and take off their armor, I know because I’ve been in RP guilds before. So, yes, this IS an RP game. Sorry

Veteran players are too hostile to newbies

Elyssandariel.2679

I have seen this too at times, new players getting yelled at by vets for not knowing what they are “supposed” to be doing. But I have seen far more of the opposite, vets taking time to show new players around and explain things to them if they have time.

Last night in Queensdale I found a true newbie to the game while I was starting a new character, and we partied up and killed things for a little while. I explained things to him and then got him a staff and a few mini’s off the trading post (he was level 4, I think I spent a gold and a half at most and he thought I was breaking the bank, it was hilarious!), then turned him loose like “have fun!” It took all of 20 minutes, probably, but I’m pretty sure I made a new friend, and now the game has a new enthusiastic player instead of someone dropping it the first day because everyone was mean. Little things go a long way, sometimes!

Has Anet Remembered the Casuals?

I am going to say that I am a “filthy casual” first off, and I say that tongue in cheek and laughing about it. I do not play for a long period of time very often. When I do play, I do what I want to do and I have fun doing it. This said……I did not complete the story in HoT zones, because it was not fun for me. It was confusing. It was very hard, when HoT first came out and all of a sudden there were “harder” mobs and cries of “Get gud!!” from all the people who caught on quickly to mechanics. The up and down of the jungle was enough to seriously make me motion sick. I HAVE done the Living World Season 3 Story, so its not like I just don’t like doing story. It’s my FAVORITE. I just really cannot stand the HoT maps.

My husband played this game religiously until HoT came out. He absolutely HATED the up and down stuff and all the levels in the maps. He spent about a couple of hours in the jungle and said “…..**** this.” He has not been back since except for once during the Halloween fest, and even then, after an hour, he said “I don’t want to play too long and get excited, then know I have to go back to that stupid expansion for my masteries.”

He is VERY good at MMO’s, has been playing them for around 20 years now, and he is not one that just gives up easily. And yet two hours in HoT maps ruined this game for him. It was just TOO different, TOO quickly. I think if they had released an expansion that had a happy medium between Core Tyria, and HoT first, to get people used to the idea, then it would not have left such a bad taste in a LOT of people’s mouths.

Official Episode 6 Feedback Thread: One Path Ends

I haven’t finished yet, but, I have to say, I am not impressed so far. That bloodstone prison puzzles were just beyond frustrating and ridiculous. I got so frustrated with it I almost quit the episode and didn’t go back to it, but I got help from a friend instead who had somehow stumbled onto the “correct” way of doing it.

For those that say that the puzzle was easy: Good for you. You have a mind for puzzles. That is great. -I- do not. A little help would be appreciated for those like me who cannot figure it out, or just have tried so many times we don’t want to do it anymore. Like the override on the machine puzzle that got you into the Dragon Lab? That was perfect. Just something like that so we have a way out if we are “boxed in.”

I am a human so it makes sense for me to swear to the Shining Blade, especially if you picked the storyline with the two exemplars in it for your personal story! You already know these guys, they are solid and helped you, so why not help them? For other races, it would definitely be a WTF?? Moment. I wouldn’t swear to one of the Asuran factions, as a human, or at least, I would not choose to, if it were up to me, unless I knew them and had worked with them before extensively. A non-human swearing a potentially lethal oath just to find out “Yeah, this is what I’m doing….” and it’s the OBVIOUS conclusion if the character wasn’t going with option A? Why bother with that?

I like the new exemplar we work with. I especially liked that she sang and opened the door sloooooowly while we killed people. THAT was funny. Most of the jokes that are “written” into the storyline are not funny in the slightest. This woman, and Canach, have their moments. A certain moment with a certain painting comes to mind, for Canach’s funniest bit ever.

Are all these things that we are learning in the living story via masteries going to actually be useful later on in other maps? Because if not, I can save my mastery points and just level up other things with them like my gliding or something else.

Overall I am not entirely thrilled with this story so far. I just got to Orr so, it may get better. I would like to see more Logan, find out what is happening with Rytlock, and Zojja, if possible. I have to admit, I used to hate Logan. He was my favorite to make fun of. Episode number 5 humanized him for me. I actually feel badly for him, being ridiculed after what happened. That can’t be easy to take, and THAT was a bit of writing I can appreciate. Yes, it’s a retcon, I know, before anyone argues with me. But it was nicely done in a way that touched me, personally.

Your opinion on GW2 after HoT (2017)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elyssandariel.2679

Elyssandariel.2679

I have not played GW2 much since HoT. I didn’t even finish the story part of HoT, and that is my FAVE thing about playing, seeing the story. I hate the multi-level maps. I hate jungles in general, no matter what game I am playing. (Diablo 2? HATED the third act!) I do like the gliding, I just wish they would realize that some of us are older, have disabilities, and not a lot of time on our hands. So spending a long time perfecting how to get from A to B, or when they make “Challenging New Content!” and then its’ almost impossible to solo anything anymore, it is disheartening.

Plus now storyline is hidden behind raids, which you need specific gear and a high skill level before groups will let you join, unless you are lucky enough to find a training group. A lot of people do not know what was going on in the story for a time, because they didn’t do raids. Sure, you can look up videos on youtube, but you shouldn’t HAVE to, to know what is going on in the game.

Stop making holiday / event stuff tradeable!

I prefer for things to be trade-able, myself. I really wanted that mini moa with the jackolantern on its head and I didn’t get it, despite doing NOTHING BUT Halloween content for the time it was here. My husband was lucky with the drops, and got one, and two nightwings, and a few other things. He shouldn’t be allowed to give it to me, even though I was there, did everything he did, and just wasn’t lucky? That makes no sense. (BTW he is selling it, because of exorbitant prices on the TP, but, my point stands.)

Did GW2 lose its identity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elyssandariel.2679

Elyssandariel.2679

For me, GW2 HAS lost it’s identity. This used to be a game to play when you wanted to, and put down when you wanted to, with no real consequences to your characters. If you wanted to take a month off, you could still go back and do all the stuff that you missed later. You didn’t need a certain gear. You didn’t need a certain weapon. If other people played longer, they’d just have more gold to play with.

NOW, you NEED ascended to do fractals. You cannot do upper level fractals without agony resistance, and that goes in ascended gear. In order to get ascended gear, you have to have a maxed out crafting on one or more category. You also need a ton of materials to make this gear, and some of the things you are crafting is time-gated to one a day, which will take a while, or is expensive to buy. Now there will be Legendary armor coming out, with better stats than ascended.

That doesn’t sound like the start of a gear treadmill to anyone else? Because it does to me. What happens when we’ve had Legendary out for a while and they require it somehow for some other game mode? And then once “everyone” has that, will they put something else out, that’s got more stats than Legendary armor, so the players have something else to reach for? I’m thinking they will. It hasn’t started with weapons yet, but it is a matter of time.

I am not saying that we shouldn’t have anything to work for ever, or that there shouldn’t be more challenging content! Far from it! When they first revamped Teq, it was simply to increase hitpoints so it was almost unkillable and then dusted off their hands like “Our job here is done!!” Teq is one of the most popular world bosses there is, along with Karka Queen. Player dissatisfaction was LOUD and CLEAR that just upping the hitpoints was not the way to go. The new Shatterer design is a lot better, and more in line with the “improvements” that should be made. Before the revamp, we stood on a hill in a group and just fired stuff at it. That was all.

HoT was a dramatic increase in skill needed. I still haven’t completed it all, because you need masteries and you have to kill things for masteries. Story is gated behind these masteries and if you don’t have them, you can’t do the story! I HATE STORY GATING!! I hate it with a passion! Story is what I enjoy most about this game, and they gated story behind not only masteries, but they did the lead-in to Living Story Season 3 behind raids! How many people knew what was going on in the story, without looking at you-tube? Be honest with yourselves. The majority of players did not know, because the lead-in story was gated behind raiding, which the majority of players do not do!

I am not saying to not have raids. I am not saying to not have challenging content. I am saying that this started as a more casual and relaxed atmosphere, and now it is turning into a grindfest, either for masteries, or for gear. Leveling is easy, thank goodness. The real grind begins at level 80 for most people!

TLDR: Yeah, GW2 has definitely lost it’s vision.

I don’t think they will be level 1 zones. I think they mean stand alone, as in, you don’t have to have HoT to play it. But they will still be level 80 zones. It makes no sense for them to be level one zones. You have to go through the rest of the story first to know what is happening and who your character is and why they are called “Commander.”

Account hacking incident

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elyssandariel.2679

Elyssandariel.2679

I wouldn’t say that the hacker is “bad” or that the CS person is “bad” either. According to the social engineer hacker on Redditt, it only took ONE time of trying, all the information was fake that he gave, and it was a GM’s account to boot. Not “He kept trying till one of our CS agents wasn’t so strict.” He tried ONE time, and got in. On a GM’s account. Not the multiple times that Anet is claiming it took. He had the ticket up and everything before the mods told him to take it down. If -I- were ANET I would want people to think it took multiple times too, to save face, but, according to the person who did this, who has absolutely nothing to lose by telling the truth, it only took one time.

The CS agent doesn’t need to be fired over this. He/she needs to be trained a bit more, along with all the rest of the CS agents, and ANET needs to pay attention when people tell them “yeah…you might wanna pay attention to this security break you have.”

The giving away of the frogs is not a big deal, she’s a GM and if someone had the code to make those frogs in the first place, they can make them again. She lost very little of value apart from the frogs, which, as I said, someone can just make for her again. There have been people offering to reimburse her the things she lost, which is very kind of them, and if I had anything of value in GW1 I would do the same. Gaile was basically just a high-profile name that would attract attention and that’s why her account was the one that got “hacked.”

In Game Marriage system

Elyssandariel.2679

I don’t know why people are bringing RL and RL marriage into this. It’s a game. Not everyone who would want this feature needs to “Get ourselves lives.” I’ve been married for 14 years and with my husband for 21, and I would LOVE an in-game marriage system for my characters that was fleshed out. Going on quests together, doing the stuff to get the rings, that would be amazing! I would totally marry my hubby in-game, if he still played. AND I would marry my best friend’s characters, because why not It’s not real.

You could certainly decide it was a real commitment, between the two of you, if you so choose. I know people who “get married” online in games and such, with their friends before they can legally get visas and do it in RL. So something for everyone here! With or without the buffs that should (imho) go with it.

I agree with you, AION and GW2 and TERA are the only MMO’s that I play from time to time. I spend most of my time on GW2 though, when I do play. These are great games from great companies and its nice to see someone with such a good attitude on the forums

EDIT: And you never know where you’ll meet someone special! I was in a chat room in college, back in ‘96 when they were JUST starting to come out, and met my husband there! We’ve been together for 19 years now, married for 12. Don’t let ANYONE say a relationship that starts on the computer won’t ever go anywhere! He moved over here from England so we can get married

Really he’s horrible. He’s a firstborn that spent HOW LONG studying Orr and couldn’t do anything useful when we got there? -I- did everything!! So much for leading the pact!! You know why everyone answers to ME in the new story?? Because Trahearne sucks and no one wants to listen to him anyway

LOL I kind of want to make a Sylvari making fun of Trahearne now like I did with Thackeray LOL my next project!!
