Why are there lvl 2 deer and lvl 50 deer?

Mechanics, mate. Would you rather see a world where most non-monstrous species only exist in the backyard of the major cities?

Can you be more specific about ‘mechanics?’ I know what mechanics are but am unable to see how a lvl 50 doe fits into the mechanics. And as i said before, instead of a ridiculous lvl 50 doe, Anet should just place a neutral doe there (such as raccoons and rabbits, critters that die in one hit)

I’ve seen lvl 2 Moa in queensdale and lvl 23 Moa in the upper-level zones. Same model, same name. Same attacks, etc. Also, lvl 2 doe in Queensdale and lvl 50 doe. You would think that a lvl 25 Charr Warrior with heavy armor, greatsword, and long bow can kill a doe easily. Let’s say that the Charr goes against the lvl 50 doe and loses even by starting with a longbow from a distance and a greatsword for melee, yet dies in one hit by the doe. Then he goes back to his homeland and tells his crew a doe just killed him even with full armor and fine weapons. How does that make sense? Just put a neutral doe critter there to make the landscape more ‘lively.’ If you want to put a lvl 50 doe then at least use what creativity you have to put something like “Black Flame-breathing doe.” It’s a fantasy game, after all.

But a Charr warrior dying to a Doe? “LOL” is all I can say to sum up both my disappointment and amusement.

I played as guardian and it’s so boring for me. I don’t like being support class. I want to fight headon and deal damage. Thanks though. I chose Norn Warrior. Gotta get that epic armor from Arah.

I bought GW2 beta last year and have a lvl 80 thief. I want to play again and need help in picking a second class.

Mini autobio of me:

-active CS player (Counter-Strike 1.6, Source, and GO)
-FPS player mainly
-Competitive
-Team player
-Can get distracted easily
-Rather impatient, want things done quick and easy
-Will mostly solo in PvE (Hearts and Stories)
-Will play mostly Dungeons
-I like AoE offensive skills
-I like splash damage, melee or ranged.
-I am very flexible in terms of role. If the party is missing a support class, I’ll change my traits and such. Vice versa. Flexibility thus is very important in the class I want.
-I prefer direct damage over condition damage since the results are immediate.
-I prefer defense over HP. It’s just low-maintenance.
-I will play Human.
-Boons > conditions
-I like having companions so I can bait them and not die.
-I like a class that is fast and strong. Don’t really care about magic unless it can deal lots of direct damage and survive.

Thank you my buddies!!

Berserker, Knight, or Valkyrie?

If you are a 0/0/x/x/x build, then I would go with Berzerker. Berzerker offers the damage you need, while the traits offer the defense you need. And as above said, it depends on your playstyle. I want to have sort of a balance in my build, not going pure DPS/pure support, etc.

My way to play thief is to Gear offensively and trait defensively.

Zerkers is probably your best bet for gear. I’m using rampage now and am working on switching over because I’m not really impressed with my condition damage (best gear for condition damage is probably carrion to improve survivability). Stat stacking sigils (can’t use 2 of them though) are cool as are on crit abilities (fire, lightning, condition cure).

I mainly trait for stealth and initiative regen. I’m currently playing with 0/0/30(V, X, XI)/25(VI,IX)/15(II). I like the stats for the first 2 but I’m overall not impressed with the traits they give(except power’s 25 minor trait, too far to be worthwhile though D=).

Weapons I use are Shortbow and D/P or P/D. I switch off and main depending on what I’m running(means you only need 2 weapons too).

Heal: usually Hide in Shadows, sometimes signet of malice
Utilities: Infiltrators signet(or shadowstep), Shadow Refuge (always), personal preference (usually signet of shadows, but I also like: smokescreen, blinding powder, and very situationally scorpion wire).
Elite: Thieves guild usually, daggerstorm occasionally (can be really strong with signet of malice in big crowds you heal so much otherwise it’s a lil risky for how much damage it does)

Your role is mainly dps but you give a lot to the party in the form of blinds and stealths (shadow refuge is an easy revive in most situations).

I do this. Gear offensively and trait defensively. The Grandmaster traits in both Power and Precision do not really give you that much extra damage, only about around 35~50 damage at lvl 80. The traits in ‘defensive arts’ are more useful and beneficial to any thief.

Is Thief really the worst class?

Here’s my take on thieves after having just lvl’d my thief to 80.

Let’s be honest — thief really isn’t the best class for DPS. There is a class that is suited much better than thieves to dish out the most damage, called Warrior. Of course, you can have a Thief with better gear against a more inferior Warrior, and the Thief would win, but if they both have exceptional gear with cleverly laid out build then overall, Warrior would beat Thief at this game.

DPS-wise, Thief is not the best.

Thief is also not as good as other classes for tanking. When people want to play their Thief as a tank, they’ll soon realize that it is hopeless despite having invested in Toughness, Healing, and Vitality; they will find themselves having to dodge out of combat instead of staying in combat for prolonged period of time, which is what an effective tanker should do.

Thief is not the best at tanking. It is the Guardian’s job.

Thief has some great support skills — they can stealth allies and give regeneration; give out venoms to the party; and are very effective at reviving downed allies with Shadow Refuge. However, there are couple other classes that are rewarded with better support skills. Guardian and Warrior all have shouts and such that will give a large amount of boons. Necromancers and their conditions will leave a challenge for opponents. Engineers and their inventions will supply a steady flow of support for the whole team.

Thief is not the best at support…

Finally, while Thief does have good condition skills.. there are Necromancers, Mesmers, and Engineers.

So what is the Thief the best at? Why go for a GC when you can roll a Warrior? and why would you ever think of making a tank/support thief?

Which class to complement a Warrior in PvE?

Hi, just one question. Which class generally goes well with a Warrior in PvE (co-op personal story, map exploration, dungeon, etc.)? Personal anecdotes and opinions are welcome
