Ranks are too slow to acquire

People need to stop comparing the length of GW 1 rank aquirement to GW 2. They are ENTIRELY different. GW 1 awarded rank exponentially for winning, which meant good players got MUCH more fame than the bad ones. A truly good HA team could get 20 times more Fame effortlessly in one night than a bad team could get all week. 1) Because you had to win to get it 2) Because the Fame given increased exponentially with consecutive wins. The ranks in GW 1 for the most part were not only separated by time played, but by good players.

In GW 2, everyone and their grandma is awarded glory for as little as getting 5% damage on that guy who got downed by someone else. GW 2 does not incorporate skill into rank, it is purely based on time played. Sure, one can argue a “better” player will get more points in browser games, but that type of play style isn’t important in Tournament games and the way Tournaments run and awards are given out in tournament play now it’s not even worth playing them if you want to “rank”.

So at the end of the day, the higher ranked players are mainly the browser game spammers who, if you talk to many of them, have never even tournied before.

How do I get PvP Apprentice Gear?

How do I get the PvP Apprentice Gear? I’ve been all over google looking for it and I can’t seem to find an answer. I would assume that after everything has been looked at that it’s available through the mystic forge with a “Arcane Sliver” and “Rabbit Token” but… that recipe is N/A.

So how do you get it? I feel like these “leggings” are arguably the best looking female light armor in the game for humans. If they’re not attainable at the moment, then why not? Isn’t this “starter” gear for PvE anyways?

Arcane Thievery

I use arcane thievery to get rid of chill. It got rid of the “condition”… However, my character remained at chilled movement speed. I couldn’t move any faster than that for the rest of the game….

While doing blurred frenzy, the ranger’s quicksand trap sprung.. My character couldn’t move and was stuck in the blurred frenzy animation. Nothing I did fixed the problem (weapon swapping casting other skills, etc). Infact, it didn’t even let me cast other skills/utilities. My character was frozen in the air doing the blurred frenzy animation the rest of the sPvP match.

Hi! This is The Unholy Order’s [TUO] Guild post.

So, there are a lot of people who say “Yea we have 20-50 on” but let’s be honest, how often do you see those people participating? Our guild centers around ventrilo! Now, we have over 200+ members and a varying amount on at a time, but ventrilo is always active. Our lowest points have maybe 3-5 and on weekends we get 20+ in vent.

Most people like to have the ventrilo atmosphere and enjoy talking to people while they play, which is what our guild excels at.

Our ventrilo info:

port: 41285

Feel free to hop on and say hello to our members!

Buffs – Always have 10% MF and Gathering bonus up, more depending on what’s going on

Events – Our guild hosts raffles and other incentive prizes if people care to take advantage of them

When transmuting armor to look like the cultural armor the “Race Only” display disappears. I transmuted my CoF armor into tier 2 sylvari armor and it no longer says “Required Race: Sylvari”.

Very well thought out and easy to read post. Clearly you’ve taken the correct channels in reporting this bug and tried to do it as respectfully and understandably as possible. golf clap

An important note is being side-stepped here in the Ranged/Melee discussion that was mentioned by the first poster. It doesn’t matter if you’re ranged or melee… the bosses have so much HP I sometimes literally am trying to keep myself from browsing the internet while fighting these guys. Some of them don’t even hit hard or have any fancy thing that players have to worry about. They just have enough HP to where you have to stand there and whack at them for 20 minutes. Yay….

I don’t understand why there is only one waypoint in HotW. If defeated at any point and your party isn’t in a position to bring you back then you have to run through the entire dungeon just to get back to your party.

There aren’t skipping mobs in this path. It’s almost entirely composed of boss battles. No lesser mobs. If you’re able to do the dungeon in 16 minutes when it takes everyone else an hour then why don’t you help us all at and tell us how.

PS>While path 2 is the easiest it’s also the slowest. And next time you want to accuse me of making stuff up…you should make sure you didn’t pretty much prove my statement true with the data you toss out to prove it wrong

Not sure what data you’re hallucinating about but I told you my group took an HOUR for 59silver. Somehow, you took that and said Oh that means 30 minutes and now if you do two in one hour that’s close enough to my number (because you know, 20 silver is nothing right?).

On top of that, you said that it’s the slowest run, yet you still think it meets your 30 minute quota and after doing a second run of a different path we got 40 minutes and 50s. I’m sorry to ask this here, but are you on any sort of dissociative drugs like PCP?

You haven’t upset me at all. I just don’t believe you’re telling the truth or you just don’t realize how much time you’re actually spending on these events.

We ran HotW Path 1, now. 40 Minutes, 0s in repairs, 50silvers, no rares. I can continue to post my run times and what I got out of them but there’s not real point.

You’re still completely missing the overall point of the thread and that’s dungeons aren’t even close to the best way to making money in this game and the best way has the player standing around doing nothing. It should be flip-flopped so the player that wants to go out and actually do something with their team can get more rewards then the guy who stands around all day puttering on the trade post.

I decided to record some numbers for once just to see if you were blowing steam or not since I noticed on every post you seem to make on the forums you act like you’re 100% right and only you know the correct way to play the game.

So, HotW’s Path 2. Took 1 hour, 4 DC’s during the dungeon, 4 silver in armor repairs, and one rare with 40% magic find. First run of the day 26silver, 17 silver for rare, 20 silver in items sold. Net total of 59 silver in one hour. Even if we were able to do the dungeon in 30 minutes it’s still well below your “1.4G” per hour. Don’t make up numbers.

Also, try not to use the “well you guys didn’t know what you were doing” or “maybe if you didn’t have DC’s” because DC’s happen and they’re a normal part of a dungeon that should be factored in to a group events efficiency. Also, Path 2 is a straight forward hack and slash with no real things to slow you down from punching out some heavy DPS (which is how our team comp was oriented).

Like I also stated in the first possible, as of now it’s possible to make more than even your made-up “1.4G” an hour number by just sitting at the trade post and watching prices.

I’m making a point that dungeons aren’t even close to the best way to make money in this game and that the best way requires the player to do absolutely nothing but stand around. How does that make sense?

All give you about 70s? That would assume everything was on the first run giving you 26s and you had around 40 items drop? That’s entirely inaccurate and after a first run would bump down to much less items then that. Simply finding a group that would be able to farm those dungeons within a reasonable time spam is absurd.

Alright, so players all want to find the best way to make money. This isn’t going to be like the normal gold farming guides. How about instead of talking about ways to make gold, we talk about how to not make gold?

Well, let’s start out by stating if you want gold at the moment avoid dungeons like Citadel of Flames (CoF) and Twilight Arbor (TA). I would also suggest staying away from Caudecus’s Manor (CM).

Due to high repair costs of dying, the difficulty of dungeons, and the diminished returns anti-farming dungeoning is no longer profitable with the exception of lodestones. The best being the charged lodestones (which drop in Crucible of Eternity/sparks) go for about 1 gold. The sparks method may payout for the player if they’re lucky but as soon as the anti-farm code kicks in plan on porting to a different region or wandering around in WvW for awhile.

Quite a few players are still in denial that Guild Wars 2 is not about farming the same dungeon to get the gear the player wants. Instead, players must play through a variety of dungeons to get optimal rewards and waste countless hours on the optimal rewards that they don’t need or even want. Making the optimal rewards not so optimal.

When looking for a dungeon group be prepared to wait for 30+ minutes infront of certain dungeons due to no cross server group finding mechanism. Also, be aware very few players have the skill or brain power to complete various dungeons with any degree of finesse or ease. Make sure to develop a solid core group of players to do dungeons with to share all the wonderful aches and pains of dungeoning with some friends. However, when those friends aren’t on be prepared for the true grit of PUG groups or possibly go back to WvW and run in circles until said friends get on.

Try to bring an extra 10-20 silver into the dungeon for repair costs. If this is the players 3rd time running the dungeon, expect to break even or come out with about 5-6 silver less than when starting, especially with PUG groups. This may not be true for every path on every dungeon. However, due to logic enhanced dungeon mechanics, some dungeons are easier to complete by “chain dying” and running around in circles.

Let’s now touch briefly on another quick way to make money. All those Orichalcum veins, Ancient Wood Log trees, and Raspberry bushes players are meandering by are worth a lot of money! about 15silvers worth in the low saturated zones and 65+silver in the high saturated zones! Who needs dungeons when one can run around a map hacking at a vein (with no skill involved!) and reliably make more money than a dungeon farmer who requires coordination and knowledge of the dungeon mechanics.

Finally, come to an understanding that other players are smarter and know better ways to make gold. For example, standing infront of the trading post and running back and forth between work stations can generate 3+ gold an hour. That’s right world, who needs to play the dungeon game that gives 30 silver an hour if the player is lucky when they can laugh and skip back and forth in Rata Sum and make more than the dungeoners. Who needs to go out to find an area they like farming when the anti-farm code will stop the player in their tracks and the Trade Posters will still be laughing.

Thank you for reading. This guide was developed to help improve overall player experience while dungeoning.
