Thanks, added you. I’m aware of the dungeon mentor guild, but they teach effective runs, and that’s not exactly what I need.

Hello, I’m an on-and-off player (actually a GW1 veteran), whose friends have mostly stopped playing. The 3 paths mentioned in the title are still missing from my Dungeon Master achievement.

I’m looking for a helpful guild or group of friends who would carry me. I carried a lot of people in GW1 on HM missions, FoW and DoA runs, and loved helping people. Here’s hoping I’ll find the same in GW2.

I love the lore of this game, so while skipping normal mobs through whatever means is fine with me, skipping bosses and cinematics (RUSH PLZ) is not. Please take that into account — I will probably never visit these paths again, so I want to experience them to the fullest.

I’m an EU player, and currently easy to find in-game, I’m in an “on” period now. I have 3 exotic gear/ascended trinkets characters (Berserk war, Soldier ele, Berserk mes), and I’m experienced, so I’ll pull my weight. No need to carry me in that sense.

Due to the lack of interest, Travelers’ Marathon is CANCELED.

Registration details

• A Google Photos album is required to enter the competition. If you already have a Google account, simply select Photos from the upper menu bar to get there. If you don’t, you need to register a Google account first.
• Select “Upload photos”, upper right corner. You have the option to use a file upload browser, or you can drag and drop a screenshot there.
• Upload a test screenshot, which shows your character with the Contacts list open. It doesn’t matter where it’s taken.
• After the uploading is completed, click on “Add to album” in the upper left, then go into the “New album’s name” field, and type “Travelers’ Marathon” in there.
• The sharing window will open, select “Public” in the “To” field, then click on the “Share” button.
• The team leader should send the links to the 3 albums (one for each team member) to me, endrosz@gmail.com, at least one hour before the event starts (Oct 5 20h CEST/14h EDT/11h PdT).

Competition details

• Start date and time: 2013 October 5, 21h CEST/15h EDT/12h PDT
• The team leader should enter this TeamSpeak channel: ts.kockabrigad.hu:9988, server password: youtube, GW2 channel
• When we have everyone on board, I will share the puzzle album publicly, and then give the signal to start.
• After the signal has been given,the team leaders are free to leave the TS room. I will remain there.
• The screenshots have their score value in their description.
• The competition runs for 90 minutes after it starts. Only screenshots uploaded before the end time are valid (you can upload screenshots after that, those are just simply ignored). Google Photos records and shows the server time for each uploaded photo, that is the basis for determining validity.
• Optional: After the competition ends, you’re free to hang out in the TS channel and chat with the others.
• You’ll have to wait one day for the final scores, it takes some time to review all those screenshots.
• 1st place 60 gold, 2nd place 40 gold, 3rd place 20 gold.

A few tips

• View the images in full size, and take care to notice every detail that’s available: mobs, NPCs, the architecture, the lighting, etc. If you see something on the image, however small, it’s not a coincidence that it’s there!
• The scoring is based on my purely subjective judgement, which takes into account how easy it is to recognize it, and how much effort it is to get there. It is highly likely that there will be some 3pt images that’ll be easy for you, and some 1pt ones which will take some time. This is natural, we’re not the same people.
• Some shots were taken at very well-known locations, but with an unusual camera angle. Look up, look down, look sideways, look everywhere if you think you’re near a solution!
• A very few images (no more than 3-4 per batch) require you to finish a one-shot dynamic event to open up some place. These events are single events, NOT part of a chain, and they’re in places where usually no one bothers to go. If the event is inactive (finished, but not reset yet), you can (1) skip that location, and return later or (2) guest on another server.
• Sponsors: If you become hungry for snacks while running around, try the Strawberry-flavored Fried Quaggan Sticks from Meatbomb Fast Foods! And when your mind gets drained from all the thinking, gulp down a can of Inquest Megablaster energy drink! It’s guaranteed to blow your mind (to pieces)! The gear of the show’s hosts were provided by Beigarth Wondersmithing (“It’s hammertime!”), security services provided by Skritt Shinycollecting Inc. for 3 worn-out cogs and a screeching, faulty boom-box (plus what they got their hands on).

TL;DR: On Oct 5 21-23h CEST/15-17h EDT/12-14h PDT, a team competition will be held which is similar to Guild Trek, but with screenshots instead of textual puzzles.

Hello everyone, this is the announcement for Round 1 of a series of team competitions that is aimed at people who like exploring every nook and cranny of the vast and rich world of Tyria. This is your chance to prove that you’re a true world traveler at heart, and also to win some gold!

Overview of Travelers’ Marathon

Teams of 3 may enter the competition, and registration is required before the start of the event.

When the competition begins, an on-line album of about 80 in-game screenshots will be shared publicly. These were taken in a certain ‘region’ of Tyria, divided into West, East, and South. The screenshots do not show the interface, so you only have the in-game view to work with. Your task is to locate the place where the screenshot was taken, and create a matching screenshot with your own character, with the interface and Contacts window shown for identification. Then you must upload your version to your own album before the time runs out.

The competition runs for 90 minutes (one and a half hour). Each solution is worth 1-3 points. When it’s over, the points are tallied for each team, and the winners are announced the next day (it takes some time to review the albums and award the points). For each round, the prize pool is 120 gold, 60 gold for the winning team.

If everything goes as planned, there will be 3 rounds total, one each for West, East, and South.

tm_puzzle: The puzzles you need to solve look like this. This was taken from the East collection, which will be featured in Round 2, so you also know that only the zones included in the Frostgorge Sound — Iron Marches — Hoelbrak — Fields of Ruin rectangle are “in play”. The image shows an underwater location, where steps lead up to some man-made structure (so it’s not a quaggan village). Also, it looks like this is the inside of some cavern or something, as there is no open air above the water level, it’s something darker. While this is probably not enough even for seasoned explorers to figure out the place just by looking at it, these clues severely limit the possible locations. At this point, you should start visiting the places that could look like this.

tm_solution: When you figured out where the screenshot was taken and gotten there, try to match the position, the camera angle etc. closely, and take your own screenshot. Then sometimes later, but before the end of the competition, upload it to your own album where you gather your solutions.

Players like to complain, always, get used to it.

Seconded. Especially about the rewards. GW1 PvP gave you Zaishen Keys, which made PvP very, very rewarding PvE-wise. PvP-only skins don’t cut it, especially with custom arenas costing gems, which PvE players can more easily buy (yes you can get small amounts from tourneys, I know).
