In the last 2 weeks the prices of various mats have collapsed – eg bolts of gossamer, snow truffles, coriander seed, silver dyes.

Why is this?

why has the price for reynas armour collapsed since the patch? Last week it used to sell for beween 2-8 gold per piece – now its about 50 silver a piece

Lol I only have 7 gold – I just can’t make any money !

Tournaments are supposed to last 3 rounds so why do I get kicked out to the heart of the mists at the end of each round ?

Seems with the market settling down in recent weeks and large price falls it is difficult to make money from flipping due to a narrowing of buy/sell spreads.

The profit margin has completely gone from the likes of sesame seeds, coriander seeds, yam, bolts of gossamer and snow truffles. So I was wondering what other people were turning their flipping trades to.

Insignias and dyes seem fairly profitable but they are slow to sell unlike crafting mats.

Lotro has the best crafting system by far, and you can make money off crafted items

where do you get jewellery from in pvp under level 80 as the template character doesnt have any jewellery?

Welcome to the world of economics my friend.

What you are seeing is happening in most other crafting professions too. The game has only been out 6 weeks and the market has not had time to settle down yet. There has been a huge influx of players into the game all trying to level up crafting as quickly as possible. People make the crafting materials (panels / lining in the case of tailor & leatherworker) but they don’t really want these items so they dump them on the TP, often selling at a loss to free up bag space. As there is a massive oversupply for these crafting materials, market forces react to lower the price. Just google supply and demand curves – this is the basics of economics.

In a few months time when everyone has finished crafting on mains and alts, and there is less supply, the price of these crafting materials will rise above the cost to make them.

If you have any sense you will take advantage of this oversupply and instead of buying mats to make these crafting materials, you should simply put buy orders in on the TP, and then craft the finished article which will make a profit.

The tax makes it almost impossible to make money and there is no justification for it.

We should stage a protest. Every player on each server should goto Lion’s Arch at 12pm gmt on Saturday – this will hopefully make the servers crash and make Anet sit up and take notice.

So I’ve been playing pvp and keep finding mesmers put a purple chain around me and I cant move. I’ve just rolled a mesmer alt but cant figure out what that skill is. Advice pls.

I’m new to warrior (level 15) and heard its possible to have a high crit build for levelling (80% crit or something?). How do you do this please? I’m running axe/axe

Example – you buy 100 coriander seeds for 1 silver
total cost = 1g

If you sell those seeds for 1s 50c each
total proceeds are 1g 50s and gross profit is 50 silver
however listing price is 7s 50c (5% of 1g 50s)
sales tax is 15s (10% of 1g 50s)
net profit 27s 50c and total received is 1g22

Actually MF Panda you are wrong – on those buy and sell prices he is breaking even. There isn’t a 15% deduction on both listing and selling. The fees are 5% on listing price and 10% on total sale price (many people say the tax is 15% but its actually much more than 15% depending on what the item sells at.

The calculation is difficult to do manually but there is a great GW2 app you can download for android that does all the calculations for you called the “GW2 Trade post calculator”

thank god for Anet’s email log in authentication. I got an email at work today asking me to authorise a log in attempt. I thought this really odd and when I looked the log in was from china (Iive in England).

This has really concerned me – how on earth did these people bet my username and password ?

I agree – my ele never has any money because it dies so much particularly in instances and at level 80 end up with 11s repair costs. couple with the cost of travelling to dungeon zones and travelling back afterwards, 1 dungeon run can cost me around 20s

and then my ele would have picked up the stuff my warrior had bought – just sucks

I’m new to warrior (level 10) what weapons are recommended please and why ?

So I rolled and alt only to find I cannot mail stuff between characted as a message comes up “you cannot post to yourself”. In this instance my ele who is an armourer was trying to mail some crafted armour to my warrior. This surely has to be an unitended bug.

Another problem is that the trading post is shared between the whole account rather than individual characters. For example I ordered some gear on the trading post for my Ele. I then went to the TP later on my warrior only to find the gear I had ordered on my Ele there waiting to be picked up. Therefore I had to take these items on my warrior, but couldn’t then mail them to my Ele! Therefore my only option was to walk to the bank (which of course was full), destroy some stored items and put the gear in the bank for my Ele to pick up later.

This was an incredibly frustrating experience!

The TP should be exclusive to each character and account characters should be able to mail between each other.

Some good tips above – Ele’s die a lot so make sure you go for gear and runes with power, vit & toughness. Also don’t solely focus on damage skills, equip defensive skills and traits too. Mist form cantrip will get you out of many sticky situations.

The thing about Ele is that although they are a ranged class they require a lot of movement and kiting – dodge is your best friend – bind it to a mouse button. It helps if you can get a glyph pet to tank. When I levelled I used 2 at the same time (glyph of lesser elemental and the elite elemental).

The TP iskittenugly and confusing

I have exactly the same problem however in only ever happens in W v W. I’m using a Soundblaster X-fi card.

I think the ELE is fine in terms of damage and squishyness except against multiple mobs where it really could do with some crowd control skills like a 30 second stun, similar to a loremaster in lotro.

Whilst levelling Ive put all my trait points into earth and water for toughness and health, but I still die a lot is I accidentally pull a second mob.

I even tried running with the 2 elemetal pets out at the same time (normal & elite skills) so I felt a bit like a necro with these 2 pets running behind me but I tended to find that they inadvertently pulled extra mobs too.

The 3 second stun that the ELE has is not long enough.
