Sigh…I know we were all hoping for more. I rolled an ele to play in wvw in the meanwhile. Hardly ever obstructed…does total damage to groups of ~1500 using air #1 autoattack. Can self res, speed buffs out the wazoo, good aoe. Had 40 badges before I hit level 12. ’nuff said.
Just wanted to say thanks to ALL the servers and guilds for the great fights we’ve been having. I still have a lot to learn, but the level of play in this match up has really helped me skill up. A special shout out to the player (AR Charr?) riding around on the broom in BP last night. Cracked me up completely after I’d been rolled a couple of times trying to ninja camps.
Great thread! I’m still pretty new but a couple of things I’ve picked up for wvw.
Rangers as run down artists. We have consistent high run speed and long range. If you can tag someone with your LB who is fleeing, they slow down, then tag them with cripple/stun from your SB. Even if you aren’t experienced enough to finish them yourself, there will always be someone right behind you! The finish/quickness combo is very good as well.
Rangers as bait. If you are running with a group in appropriate terrain, get the group behind a rock/hill. go a short distance, pop a bear, and just stand there. When someone sees you and comes after you, fire a couple of LB shots and run over the hill. When you get over the hill drop your traps, etc. and enjoy the party when 3 on 1 turns into 5 on 3.
I just got my exotics and run a full set of Melandru. The defensive stats really help me stay up in WvW. I use food and accessories to get extra power and precision. When I can get a second set, they will be pretty much zerker all the way.
Nice to hear Rangers are going to get some love. I’m a newbie – lvl 24 – but I seem to recall that in DAOC archers always got a +distance bonus based being on castle walls, etc. I remember sitting on a wall with a bunch of archers waiting for a caster to get close and then boom. Like to see that in GW2 and it is historically/physically accurate.
