[Suggestion] salvage token/karma gear

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EscataFlayer.8470

EscataFlayer.8470

Why is it not possible to salvage your token/karma items? It’s not like it would really hurt the ingame economy. But if there is a true fear in that, atleast let us salvage for our runes and sigils. I have 300g stuck in sup runes of strength from changing badges of honor exotic gear to ascended gear. Now I’m sitting with a mass of items in my inventory cause I’m not allowed to salvage it. I wouldn’t even care if it had to be done by the black lion salvage kit only. I have multiple kits.

Please! Make all these items salvagable even if only to get runes. I could care less for the mats.

Pug dungeons: staff vs d/f fresh air

Here is a little assistant notes for you to help along. It’s not answering your differences questions. But I did some testing on the Veteran Risen Giant out in Cursed shore earlier. Few attempts at Fiery Greatsword kills, and few attempts without and use of Mistfire Wolf instead.

Average time of Fiery Greatsword kill ~20sec.
Average time of Non Fiery Greatsword kill ~20sec.

Grant it TYPICALLY FGS is a much better dps weapon, however I have lag issues. Yet I still used its abilities on cooldown. The fact of the matter is, staff has a HUGE dps pool, and it’s damage is the same to 1 target, as it is to all other 4 targets, but you get to hit them all at one time. So just picture that amount of dps done from the vet risen giant, to 5 targets total in a dungeon you run in. I personally see staff being the highest dps for the eles. But yes, rotation can get boring.

PS: These dps tests were without use of frostbow or glyph of storms or elementals. Strictly might stacking and obliterating with staff fire skills.

(Which also this was with no outside buffs, no food, no potions, no other player buffs, no sigil stacks “seeing as they drop off now from changing weapon”, and no sigils focused on killing undead. It was purely basic exotic zerk gear and 5% dmg sigil. So it would have been better if I had stacked all that too.)

First Set of RNG

50% No Drop
30% Junk Item
20% Container
10% Item

Next set (off container)

90% previous lower tier of level area (example tier 5)
10% current tier of level area (example tier 6)

Next set (off item)

50% crafting item
30% armor
20% weapon

Next set (off crafting item)

90% previous lower tier (ex tier 5)
10% current tier (ex tier 6)

next set (off lower tier)

95% blue quality
5% rare quality

next set (current tier)

95% blue quality
5% rare quality

next set (off armor)

33% light
33% medium
33% heavy

next set (off light)

15% head
15% shoulder
15% chest
15% glove
15% pants
15% boots

next set (off head)

70% blue
25% green
4% rare
1% exotic

these are examples. they do not all add to 100% but im giving a prime example. the percentages are not what they really are, but you can base your mf to improve in that fashion. you have to roll lucky through ALL those generics in order to get your exotic. and your chances of getting 1 in an hour is the same as getting 2 in an hour. its just whether the numbers roll good for you or not. there is no “lucky or unlucky” accounts. its called chance for a reason, that’s why you shouldn’t gamble if you cant cheat or don’t know the outcome.

A cool down of 9 seconds is still on cool down when 5 secs is up on warrior weapon swap charge. You still have to wait. Elements lists get 3 swaps and can do them in the 9 second period of recharge, or wait til 10 seconds so you can get the proc. either way it’s balanced for each class, except that eles should be on elemental swap and engi should be on support swap

It may have been states here before but I’m in need of knowing.

Ascended armor/weapon boxes. Are they only from fractals daily reward chest? Or can these be possible drops from mobs in fractals?

Also, what are the tiers for daily reward chests, and are they character based? I have been getting 3 fractal daily chests, but it’s on 2 characters and I only run 1-19 fractals. So I’m not sure how I get that 3rd one.

I’m going to focus on seeing which I get the chests on and what loot it is, so I can tell the difference.

So if I could get some help understanding possible places ascended boxes drop. Thanks.

EscataFlayer.8470

And there is your reason. (Infused). each item had it’s own coding therefor it’s not going to differ between the 2 items and allow usage to both. To make an item unique as in “only one in the game” or “only one per account” would remove people’s desire for multiple characters and creat less gameplay an lose players which is what a net doesn’t want. So it allows you toget multiples, but it’s per a character usage. You have to think sometimes as an ingame character. It helps. But just need to learn what unique stands for, instead of it meaning nothing to you.

The term “unique” on any item or any object or any game, labels at as one. Unless you are literally brand new to gaming, this should be an obvious. If you are new, ok no points against you. If you aren’t new, it’s your mistake, not anets “inability to translate English for you.” They aren’t going to waste time by putting

Unique (you can only use one of these items on one character at any given time. Buying 2 of these is pointless so buy the different named one with same stats.)

To each item. If they walk you through everything, you won’t learn and then what’s the point of playin the game? Just read stuff before you do something and if you have questions just wiki it. It’s what I do.

I also want to point out the large amount of people who have crappy computers which in turn lowered graphics, or removal of visual effects, and huge lag issues, make self survival extremely hard and for some, nearly impossible. So to a large amount of the community, you are forcing them to fail, get kittened at them and kick them cause they “suck” and you have this made them not want to play. Where as with the trinity if they were to want to play, any role can dps and they would be able to fill that slot and not worry about dying every second of a fight. So basically in addition I all this, it’s discouraging many to not want to play or even do dungeons.

If you are going to want a game to play as self survival, don’t force zones or dungeons to require 5 people. Let the dungeons scale up depending how many are in party. I shouldn’t be forced to rely on 4 people who possibly can’t do a dungeons in order for me to get it done and try to get the gear or items I want. I would honestly prefer to wait an hour looking for a tank or healer, the have 4 attempts at a fractal run that each take an hour just to fail cause people don’t know or refuse to learn or get frustrated and leave. That itself is pointless and more a time Waster then throwing yourself into lfg and doing stuff til you find someone.

I don’t see how any of you can consider trinity not teamwork. The tank will eventually die without a healer, the mobs won’t die without dps, the dps won’t survive without a someone taking the abuse, te healer won’t survive without the tank protecting. They all rely on each other, therefore is teamwork. Speaking to each other has never been a necessity in any game, an it certainly doesn’t work in this game. So there is nothing you can out as back up as to how this game is more teamwork then others. And the comments of “I don’t care about the other players, I just survive and pick up casualties” is a very prime example of how teamwork is not used in this game and further brings in my points. Trinity gave gameplay for dungeons a much better design for it to be an MMO and to remove it, especially to remove it permanently for any future MMO, is a poor decision for the future of gaming community. I get more team play from team death match call of duty black ops 2 then I do from this game. And for the few who don’t know what that is, it’s a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Not even an MMORPG. So no, trinity is and has even a better scenario for team coop. It doesn’t need to be used for world pve, or wvw, or pvp. But it would make a huge impact for dungeons in making them more reliable to pug an give more reason to use other gear other then full zerk.

Well unfortunately we are forced to run dungeons with people. If we wanted to run solo or with just 1-2 friends, we can’t without having that 5 group for the dungeon. But that is a completely different topic, especially seeing as the fractals scale up in difficulty, but try don’t scale down based on how many people go in.

But the thing is, classes are made to vary in specialties. If you want to consider yourself good at your class, then you need to learn all aspects. Give a healer spot will give better usage for many ingame viable options to be heal/support by both items and gameplay for people. Forcing a heale/support roll will be so much better, but don’t make a requirement to heal so that if the team wants a 5 man zerk, they can do so.

It would better benefit the crap pugging we have to go through in order to get a group that will do the dungeon. Where I enjoy an occasional Zerg rush, I like enemies having to need strategy to beat an make use of CC, instead of blitz and hope you kill.

Even if you don’t set a tank slot (which there is gear that makes this slot to actually be viable) a heal support is something that should be looked into being used.

How can you feel shackled? Every race can play every class and none get a better benefit then the other. You aren’t “required” to play a certain class. There are multiple ways upon all aspects to play each class.

And as it is, no one has made any valid arguement as to why trinity isn’t good. You aren’t required to use it outside dungeons, you don’t need it for world zergs, it would give more challenge on wvw Zerg runs cause then you need more planning when going against other teams, and as for dungeons is gives much better group dependency instead of basic solo play. Honestly dungeons right now are no different then world Zerg groups except it’s limited to 5 people. That doesn’t make me enjoy playing with people. It FORCES me to Zerg certain places to get gear / items I want for any specific reason.

So you aren’t forced to work as a team unless you want go for the better stuff in game, but your areas you play for the items you want the better things people don’t play as a team and you struggle to get stuff done in te first place.

So basically you may not be forced to do a few certain things. But you are still forced to do some that others don’t feel try should be forced to do.

I’m seeing complaints about “waiting hours for monk” but I have one thing to say. MULTIPLE class can do this. Guardians are good, Eles are good, engineers can do it. The rest have decent sustainable healing or buffing to making the job easier, and you can still do dps and heal at same time. Giving a healing/support need would also help in making the runes and different gear setups worth having in the game. As it is, the heal gears are pointless. No one uses them seeing as berserker is the only thing people want for their groups. And then tell you to survive on your own cause dugeon a are a free for all. Nothing annoys me more then getting in groups and when I go down because someone kittens up a boss element and they tell me that I should not rely on others. Cause wen I’m the only one killing larva on the legendary crawl shaman and I get killed it’s my fault right? And te answer would be yes cause I have zerk gear so dps dps dps and that’s it. There literally is no group play. It’s all Zerg free for all. And that’s not what should be done to make the game enjoyable. There are people who prefer to sit back and keep people alive. They would prefer that instead of being forced to be dps and survive.

Also, I’m in agreeance with a statement prior. Outside of pvp, toughness is useless as well as difference in armor. It just makes certain classes a little more able to survive hits but in the end, a 1 shot ability is still one shot, and 2-3 hits and you are down is still 2-3 hits. With evading being your only realm form of defense when have to choose between forced to use 2/3 survival utilities, it forces you into builds that you must use instead of letting you use many different ones, limiting build diversity which is one of the staples guild wars had above all others.

For those who say “gw2 is more team play then trinity” then let me ask you a question. Do you pug dungeons? You don’t get with people who do gameplay together.

First off, no one at all pugs without a full dps setting cause everyone wants highest dps possible. Which in turn people set up for self sufficient utilities and dps increases. There is little to no support from a pug, unless you find the RARE occasion that someone actually does come in with a bit of support.

Secondly, if your arguement is “well don’t pug” then I ask you, what is the point of MMOrpg…? It’s to allow you to have access to other players who want to do the same goals. If this was not intended, and you say don’t pug, then remove the MMO and make it self server based and just let people play with their friends.

Third, dungeons literally are face roll and te top tiers of fractals requires actual team play. You aren’t going to pug it and expect 40+ to work without an issue.

Fourth, saying that this game makes it better for classes to be used, is false. Everyone has a preferred setup they want to run higher fractals. And fractals is best suggestion on this seeing as it requires most effort to do. A lot of other stuff to pug requires group effort else you will die a lot.

Fifth, trinity is still more team play. Saying that it’s not is baffling. The dungeons are not set for solo play. Even though a set dungeon can be possible to solo, doesn’t make it a solo dungeon. Dungeons are specifically made for MULTIPLE people going in as a GROUP in order to accomplish the goal. So no, it’s not based on “everyone is just there together by chance to do it”, which also in a defense, even your Last PERSONAL storyline dungeon requires a group. So no, it’s not based on yourself being th hero. Seeing as other heroes are joining you.

I have more to say but I have to get back to work.

3 tiers of groups.

Tank
Dps
Healer

I love the fact they made each glass so variant that they have abilities to do each, but I don’t like the fact that there is no set goals in a group. It’s just build your dps, build your own survival, give some support, face roll a dungeon. Even in gw1 if you set enemies up, they still followed a set target. Here it changes to attack person doing highest dps, or highest toughness. But bounces around between them. I loved the three tier group make up because it made having a group seem more realistic in that they relied on each other. This is heartbreaking that it is not implemented in the game. I want my groups back to needing me to be my godly monk build :/ instead I run around and just kill targets no matter the class.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Ele dungeon build vs lag

in Elementalist

Posted by: EscataFlayer.8470

EscataFlayer.8470

Ok so I’m not a pvper. And I find staff is better dungeon usage. Best dps for groups, great for fields and party support and great for it’s dmg single target even if not to be best at it. So overall I find staff as a much better group use for dungeons or “hybrid” use as some people may say. Here is what I run

Zerk Armor Set w/ Sup Traveler Rune
Zerk Staff w/ Sup Force
Zerk Trinkets All / +5 Agony infusions
Zerk Trident / Sup Accuracy

Armor, Staff, Trident are exotic, All 6 Trinkets are ascended

Fire 30 / VI, VII, XI
Air 20 / V, VII
Earth 10 / VI
Water 10 / II

Reason behind this is 10% increased fire dmg, longer use of skills, gain fury and give vulnerability upon use of arcane skills, 10% crit dmg increase for 15 seconds on use of arcane skills, healing is increased for arcane brilliance, 10% more damage when in close quarters.

I have changed my earth one occasionally for the armor of earth when hit below 50% to trigger. It’s decent in group fights for protection but boss fights you are 1-2 shot anyways so it becomes pointless. This is all based on the fact you can’t rely on pugs to help you. If you get a good group you can focus dmg, but this is for self stability.

Utilities

Healing / arcane brilliance (listed above is why this is wonderful not only by it’s own ability of self heal, party heal, and enemy damage.)

7-9 slot

Arcane wave (aoe damage and gain the arcane benefits listed)

Frost bow if dps is allowed / mistform if survival is used on tactical situations

Signet of earth for basic defense or immobilize is needed

Lightning flash for making FGS a wonderful ability without the use of a wall to run to

Each of these is situational based on type of fight so be sure to interchange when needed

Elite

Fiery greatsword (this is typically best even if you can’t survive much on your own, as you summon a second for another player to use which your party should be smart enough to know it’s the eat dps in the game if mobs are positioned right)

Mistfire wolf (bonus elite) / hounds of Balthazar (human I think) are beneficial if you want a good dps burst and throw in extra bodies to help avoid being the target of certain effects.

These are what I use due to the necessity of survival and balancing in good dps when running on a crappy computer. Honestly there is no need to run anything different from berzerker star gear as a dps ele staff. I run on 4-7fps on my computer. It’s horrible. But I can still manage with my crappy computer and never die enough in fractals of higher tiers to have to repair BROKEN armor. I can still occasionally have damaged, but never broken.

If you have any other suggestions that do not include changing of armor, because that is not needed, or not telling people to buy a new computer to fix it, then voice your opinion here. If your best suggestion is to buy a new computer, go ahead and buy it for me cause I won’t argue.

The problem is, people have too many views based between different game play. Pve, wvw, tpvp, spvp, it’s all different. So you can’t want something to solely benefit one area. You need to balance it for all, and contrary to anyone’s personal belief, you can’t. You can not balance one thing to work with everything AND be good enough to be better then any other class. Balance is never possible seeing as each class has it’s own benefits and strengths. Eles can select dungeons and bosses. Some that most, if not all other classes can’t do. It comes down to the real deal. If someone can do it, and you can’t, you are the problem, not te class you play. Just reroll your character to somethig that is better for your style of gameplay.

Honestly that’s a bit overpowered that way. Even the warriors ability to remove conditions based on adrenaline bars used is easily abusable. Especially as a LB war seeing as you don’t have to hit with your burst to remove it like you do with melee weapons. And bursts don’t share cool downs so you can remove 3 conditions every 4-9 seconds depending on build and weapons. So 3 intervals with unique cool downs to remove all would be over powered. If you wanted to balance it like a warriors, I would say 3 conditions at each interval with 10 second cool down with unique cool down timer would be slightly more powerful then warriors, making it worth a grandmaster slot vs the warriors master slot trait.

Well I’m not saying for it to trigger each arrival of each tier with internal cool downs. All tiers share same cool down. Course could change it to be 3-5 conditions or 10-20 sec cool down to test it to be right, but much more of a difference and for fights it could be a one time combat effect with some fights not lasting more then 30 secs

Honestly, change the skill. Every 25% health mark you hit, (75% 50% 25%) you remove 5 conditions from yourself. 15 sec cool down. It gives the benefit of condition protection and defense, but you aren’t over powering either side. No too heavy on preventing all conditions, allowing more conditions to be placed, no struggle to kill a target just to apply conditions, and a good balance to allow self sustainment for the ele to heal itself and not have to stay at a certain tier of health. Also if d/d Eles go this route, they give up water or arcane line which is a decent loss but not end all be all so no worries on overpower there.
