PoF Requirements only for Zones not Mounts?

Is it safe to assume that the new PoF PC Requirements only apply to entering the new zones and won’t be required for the Mounts?

The reason I ask is I still run GW2 Core Only with a second account on an older XP PC with an average graphics card. If someone uses their mount in front of me in a Core Tyria zone, will it cause my PC to crash because my PC doesn’t meet the PoF specs?

I assume that is not the case, but it would be nice to get some confirmation.

6 Episodes- the number means something.

I think there were 6 episodes because there are 3 gathering tools. Each gather tool is used in 2 episodes:

Episode 1: MINE Blood Rubies
Episode 2: CHOP Petrified Wood
Episode 3: HARVEST Fresh Winterberries
Episode 4: MINE Jade Shards
Episode 5: CHOP Fire Orchids
Episode 6: HARVEST ???

Just a thought, and I am sure I’m not the first one to suggest this, buy why don’t they just make it so that when you kill an animal, you get a guaranteed hide drop appropriate for the zone you are in, let’s call these new drops Segments. A certain number of Segments would create today’s Sections which are then refined into Squares. They would just need to determine how many Segments would be appropriate for a Section, maybe 250? So killing 250 T6 zone animals would result in 1 T6 Section. They could still keep the existing RNG tables on other drops, but this would at least give players a guaranteed way to gather mats similar to ore and wood.

Similarly, killing a mob that wears clothes should drop a similar Segment of cloth that would be refined into today’s Scraps.

This is not far off how GW2 was in the first few months. My first character was a ranger and leathercrafter and as I leveled I farmed all my leather from level-appropriate animals, which dropped it reliably, and made my own armor. I remember farming drakes and skelks specifically on multiple maps for the necessary drops.

When I came to equip alts I would farm mats with my level 80 ranger. For quite a while mob drop tables were linked to the level of the map they were on not the player who killed them. I would go to the relevant level map as a level 80, the game would adjust my level to the map and I would farm what I needed. As more players hit the level cap, though, there were complaints about this mechanic because at that time there wasn’t much use for any mats below T5 and T6 other than for characters leveling up and Level 80s wanted drops their own level all the time.

ANet then changed the mechanics so that mob tables pulled from the level of the character not the level of the map. Maybe it’s time to go back to how it was four years ago…

Another idea I just thought of would be to make these new “Segments” Account-Bound and each zone would have a vendor to convert them which would also require currency specific to that zone.

So there would be a couple ways to adjust the market by setting the right amount of Segments to convert and the amount of each currency.

Shared Inventory Slot [Merged]

I too do not like the position of the free shared slot. When I first starting reading this thread, the first solution that came to mind would be to just provide a Hide/Show Shared Slots option in the Inventory tool panel (above or below Hide/Show bags). This was also mentioned above by Elden Arnaas.

It would solve the issue for those of us who like their bags setup a certain way, whether we Show or Hide bags. Since it doesn’t get involved with the complications of bag or slot postioning across alts, I would think it would be quick fix. It may not be the best solution, but it is probably the best we could get in the short term.

And although someone mentioned it could be seen as a “white elephant” to some people, I am surprised that no one has mentioned that although it was free, it seems like it could also be a tactic to get more sales of Shared Slots. I am sure there are players that weren’t even aware of that feature but they sure are aware of it now. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s possible their motives for providing it may be more about sales and less about helping the community. They are in business after all.

And if their motive is to drum up sales, why would they want to give players the option to hide it. They would rather have it in your face reminding you that you can get more Shared Slots – free advertising in a way. I wouldn’t be surprised if after a period of time when they feel most players have made up their mind on whether to buy more slots, they will come up with one of the suggested solutions and the problem will go away.

New build announced in game (been running windowed since tuesday). Logged out, updated, then logged back in and tried switching to fullScreen – still same issue as OP – blinking title bar, black screen, have to reset computer.

The wiki game update pages shows todays patch as Build: 46,613

So I guess no fullScreen for the weekend

XP-SP3, No add-ons

Just adding my name to the list of those unable to run in fullscreen mode. Windows XP SP3 with GeForce GT 220. No 3rd-party addons. Game was working fine up until the “camera” patch.

Running windowed mode is annoying. I hope Anet gets this fixed before the weekend!
