I have to say this is a very useful and (relatively) practical to apply. This seems like an extremely easy way to make commanders more prevalent.
I imagine the reason why we have not seen a feature like this was because anet had intended for squad chat to be used in this way, however we are all aware this is not currently practical.
The only downsides I can see is that for map chat advertisements people will tag up to get more attention for their posts, creating an excess of commanders not currently commanding in a given zone. This of course will defeat the purpose as the map will be more difficult to organize. That being said with a change as subtle as a little command tag in front of a name it will be easily seen while may not encourage too much abuse of it for advertisement attention.
Most skills which turn you invulnerable leave you susceptible to pre existing conditions doing damage. That being said you are almost always immune to new conditions affecting you.
Thanks, just wanted to know if I was out of the loop.
I was hoping to learn when the extra character slot from pre-purchasing HoT would arrive or if it had already been sent out. I don’t mean to be a nudge about this, however I haven’t seen any other posts about this. I have yet to receive any notification on when the extra character slot will be delivered. I understand this is still early, I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed something on this. Thank you Anet for even having this policy to begin with.
I am in the same situation that you are in. A friend of mine is absolutely in love with the story of GW2 but between just buying the game and now needing to buy the expansion… I have more gems than I know what to do with, I would greatly appreciate being able to gift the story but I understand the technical limitations, the story’s price varies based on how much you already have unlocked.
They confirmed in an early post that ascended will not be buffed. Any future progression will be done through the mastery system, not new gear. The 5% advantage that ascended gear will give you will remain at 5%.
They were referring to the type of expansion, not the pay model. The Canthan expansion and the Elonian expansion were stand alone games. You could buy one without buying the core game and your character would begin on the other continent, leveling as normal but unable to go to the starting continent of the core game. Eye of the north, like the GW2 expansion are max level content, and will have a story that follows the ending of the core story, rather than a standalone story like the 2 aforementioned GW campaigns.
An Anet employee confirmed on facebook that for the non-standard version you will receive 2 character slots.
