I purchased the Sylvari Firstborn cultural set, and transmuted the appearance to a crafted exotic set with attributes relevant to my build.
The cultural armor system does not provide any variety of attributes to meet the requirements of the multiple types of character builds; I believe they serve a vanity purpose only.
The cultural weapon system is the same way; I do not believe there is any reason for them to be exotic, when they can simply be transmuted to any existing item of choice

I generally find the aesthetic design of Guild Wars 2 to be appealing, however, I do not like the highlight effect that is applied to character models. It is possible to avoid this effect by keeping the shader quality set to Medium, however, this will also disable several other significant effects as well.
Below is an image comparison of the effect; please take note of the NPC in the background.

In conclusion, I would like to propose the ability to disable this effect individually, as some people may or may not favor using it. This would also give players a greater freedom over their personal visual preferences, as well as frame rate performance.
