Very cool. This type of build is exactly what i’m looking for; I switched recently from FT to bomb kit, and i’m loving it, and someone recently recommended toolkit instead of rocket boots. Nice to see it in action.
Do you have your build posted anywhere?
Yeah, i’ve got to get better at timing my blasts. I find the field isn’t long enough to get more than 2 blasts off, which isn’t enough to get away. It’s often the stun that gets me too; i’m used to my mesmer where my blink is a stun break, and so my first reaction isn’t yet to go for healing mist.
What traits do you take? I’m open to TK, and I definitely see the use, but I find without rocket boots i’m pretty defenceless against a large incoming force.
Here’s the build i’m currently running
I threw the full 30 into explosives so that there’s the option to respec for grenade kit on the fly, since wvw seems to sometimes devolve into max range stalemates.
I think this build gives you great mobility, which always seems to be what kills me, with 89% reduction to immobilize, chill, and cripple, and 56% reduction to other conditions, plus a stunbreak from EG and two leaps (EG4 and RocketBoots) but i’m curious to hear what others have to say about the build. Any advice?
I’m starting to move away from the flamethrower, rocketboots, elixergun build that got me through PvE to lvl 80 and to start thinking about wvw. Does anyone run a mad bomberman build in wvw?
The gear I have is all condition (settlers / carrion) and I like pistol shield. I’ve swapped out FT for the bomb kit and i’m enjoying it, but i’m trying to figure out my build. So far i’m hooked on speedy kits / invigorating speed, larger bomb radius, and I think rifled barrels, but i’m curious what your builds are.
To echo ShadowPuppet, engie is king of the burst blast, with 5-6 blast finishers available in one go, and access to Fire, Smoke, Water, Light, and Poison fields.
I’ve switched over to engie from a mesmer main and I personally love the versatility and the support role as a blaster. I’m either stacking 15 stacks of might on my guildies or i’m dropping a ton of heals. Mesmer had very little in the way of blast finishing, and engie excels at blast bursts.
The thing I miss most, which mesmer and necro seems to be the only classes that excels at, is boon stripping or corruption. What’s frustrating is I can see a super useful engie zerg buster build that would pair amazingly with a null field bunker mesmer to strip stability, but sadly I can’t play both.
On another note, whos going to get a aetherblade weapon? Im getting them all, pistols, shield and rifle (depending if its the shoulder mount cannon or not)
Do we know what they look like yet? If it’s the revolver i’m definitely going for that.
When I first read about Adrenal Implant I was really excited. 50% faster endurance regeneration! That, in combination with some endurance regen food and some vigor and you’re a dodging machine.
But there’s a 100% endurance regen cap that vigor takes you to right away. So for two adept traits (speedy kits and invigorating speed) you get perma vigor making this grandmaster trait useless.
Does anyone use it? Did Anet have a different vision for vigor for the endurance regen cap when they created this? It seems like a pretty pointless grandmaster trait to me.
I’m a newly converted engie, and loving the class. I should hit 80 this week, and i’m starting to think about wvw gearing and my setup. My goto is P/S with healing turret, flamethrower, rocket boots, and elixer gun.
My opener in both pve and wvw is to drop a fire field on the enemy, shield blast for knockdown and might, elixer gun acid spray for damage and more might, and rocket boot back in for 9 stacks of might, finishing them off with FT. It’s pretty effective, especially in pve, but it got me thinking about the different combos or chains of attacks you can do that work really well together.
What’s your setup, and what combos do you like to use? I’m most interested in wvw, because the setup i’m using isn’t super effective right now, although that may have something to do with the gear i’m running.

I have similar questions… looking forward to hearing others weigh in. Currently I mostly run FT/Rocket boots/EG and P/S and I’m thinking settlers when I hit 80 but I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot.
Is it as clearly delineated as Rifle go for power, pistol go for condition?
Food:
Sharpening Stone
Meat and Stew (100% might on dogde, +40% endurance refill, so nice with DE, dunno if it stacks with vigor though).
Sadly not. Vigor gives you +100% endurance refill and it’s capped at that. I looked into an engie build that had perma +220% endurance refill but it wasn’t possible, which is a shame.
I use a build quite close to this. It ends up looking more like what pyro is taking about. It’s lots of fun and extremely frustrating to deal with if your on the receiving end.
Let your phantasms do most of your fighting. Use stealth to help out your cd’s. You have 2 blocks, both which will hurt bad. Dump sword clones out while stealthed to confuse the hell out of your opponents. When stealth ends run at your opponent just like the clones. Oh, laugh while doing it. Laugh maniacally.
I like the build @Samiell, but i’d suggest swapping Debilitating Dissipation with either Master of Manipulation for a shorter cooldown on both blink and arcane thievery, or with Mirror of Anguish if you’re running into someone who’s using a lot of crowd control. I think you’ll get more milage out of it.
I love the idea of building around stealth though; I mostly run a standard phantasm build and this looks like it could be a lot of fun in wvw.
