I have not! Would you recommend that? Why or why not? I like male Sylvari but their voices are a bit…so so for me. I tried a female Sylvari mesmer and hated it, but loved a Charr mesmer. Maybe if I couldn’t enjoy a Charr necro, that means a Sylvari necro might work?[/quote]

Sylvari necro could be pretty cool. With a darker skin and a green glow they’d look great, and the female cultural light armor is very pretty.
There’s also the who “reduce, reuse, recycle” theme with reusing corpses. It’s actually quite natural if you think of it

I’d say try it for a few levels and see how you like it.

Was it the smallest size? Be sure to buy the size tonic in lake doric too. You’ll be smaller than a Norns foot. And you’ll run like a tiny energizer bunny on crack.

Of course it’s the smallest size. Is there any other way to roll an asura?

I’m really picky in strange ways as well. I love Charr, and love the necro as a profession, but Charr necro just hasn’t jived for me. Maybe I need to try again? Or maybe there’s another race that fits better.

I love my female Norn elementalist, and I love my Charr mesmer and warrior. Still trying to find something that seems to fit well with Sylvari, but nothing has so far.

Have you tried a Sylvari necro?

Heh, you people are a bunch of enablers!

New asura necro has been rolled, and I even bought her a pink quaggan backpack. So far she’s been great!

I have the silliest problem.

I recently leveled an old human necro of mine to 80 (she got left at level 72 years ago), and geared her up. I love the playstyle and she’s easy to solo, but keep getting a bit bored with her without quite knowing why.
I have a new Asura ranger that I love the look of. The animations are great too. But I’m not enjoying the playstyle as much as my necro.

It would be silly to roll an asura necro after only just leveling and gearing my human one, right? Right?
Of course that’s what I did last night and I love her look and animations so much! Plus the thought of this tiny little thing running around with an army of minions entertains me so much! But I have a fresh shiny level 80 human necro sitting right there… please talk so sense in me!

Game Updates: Traits

Am I the only one feeling this could, in the long run, lead to sub-par builds? Like players just unlocking whatever traits they find easier to do without factoring in how efficient those may be given their equipped stats and weapon choices?

Absolutely.

This new system doesn’t allow a new player to experiment due to the huge cost (either in skill points or in time spent unlocking) of traits. New characters will either run with traits that are easy to unlock, or cookie-cutter builds with traits that are safe to spend your hard-earned skill points on.

Not everyone likes doing dungeons or 100% completing maps, so new players (or old players like me with new characters) will have to be very careful how to spend their hard-earned skill points, or make due with whatever the game hands them out.

It is a very limited system, and doesn’t encourage experimenting at all, unless you rolled your character before the patch and thus have most of your traits unlocked.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

Reposting here per moderator instruction:

The new wardrobe transmutation costs disadvantage new and leveling players.

With the exchange rate for old Transmutation Stones to new Transmutation Charges being 3:1, and each transmute costing 1 Charge, players who are not level 80 are now paying 3 times as much to transmute their gear.

This is especially disadvantageous since leveling is when you are most likely to want frequent transmutes, since you’re constantly swapping out old gear for new.

The change is great for vets and people not leveling alts; now your stack of 200 Transmutation Charges are still good for something after level 79!

But I’m kind of bummed about the change, since my highest-level toon is 32 at this moment. The old system accounted for this with cheaper transmutes for leveling players. Why did this go away?

(Original post, along with some good discussion, at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-Transmute-Costs-Bad-for-Leveling-Players/first#post3896385)

I fully agree with this. I have 7 characters under level 80. Before the patch I had roughly 100 yellow stones, enough to change their outfits every 10 levels, due to completing maps with them. After the patch that number has been reduced to 33. I have been scammed out of 66 stones!

There needs to be a better system in place for levelling characters; they tend to change armor more often then people at high level. This system is a step backwards for anyone who is still levelling characters, especially since transmutation charges from the Cash Shop are more expensive now then the yellow stones were.

solo levelling/map completion build?

I've been trying out the hammer and the staff and it has been a lot of fun so far, plenty of utility and control which should help with surviving. I've grabbed some cheap food from the trading post as well, and I'll see about getting those sharpening stones too. So far the class has a great feel to it, like a D&D cleric or a TES battlemage, which is pretty awesome. Thanks for the advice

solo levelling/map completion build?

in Guardian

I’m trying to complete as many zones as possible while I’m levelling my Guardian, and I’m wondering what the best weapon and build combination would be for this.
Since a lot of the mid-level maps seem deserted, I can’t count on other players helping me with hard to get skill points and POIs, so solo survivability is a must.
My highest level character (ranger) is in the mid-fifties, and this will be a completely new guardian, so I don’t have much money for gear or food.

I was thinking of going for great sword/mace+shield with a scepter stowed away for group events. Or perhaps the hammer would be better then the great sword?

Skillpoint-wise I suppose the usual 15 radiance, 5 virtues to begin with. Then honour for survivability?

the problem as always is balancing kill-speed and survivability; a glass cannon doesn’t survive well on it’s own, but a tank character doesn’t kill fast enough to avoid everything resawning before you can get out safely.

Any advice on which weapons, build and armor would work best for soloing the map would be much appreciated.

The character sheet is fixed for me now, I can see a difference if I unslot my signets. The tooltip on the trait is still broken though.

It doesn’t work for me either. Not just that, but the tool tip on the actual trait is bugged as well; it still says 40 precision per signet for my level 31 warrior. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.

The precision increase does not show on the character sheet at all for me, no matter what I do. The tooltip for the trait seems bugged as well, it still shows as 40 precision per signet for my level 31 warrior, so it doesn’t scale to level either.

My level 31 warrior still has the old tool tip as well (40 precision) so it doesn’t seem to scale to level. It doesn’t show any changes when used on the character sheet either, my prec stays the same whether I have the trait selected or not. So it looks like it’s bugged for now.

I’d love this too. I would like to buy a make-over kit, and I really have no use for the other gems. 10 Euro for a makeover is too pricey for me!
5 Euro is a nice throw away amount that I’m far more likely to spend spend on an impulse, it’s amazing that the option isn’t there yet actually.

Deep Strike tooltip bug?

in Warrior

Everlost.8741

I started a new warrior before the patched with all the trait changes, and like most people I was levelling with deep Strike and signets in all my utility slots.
She’s level 31 now. According to the patch notes Deep Strike should now scale to level instead of granting a flat bonus, but the tool tip still states "Gain +40 precision for each unused signet you have equipped. "
Is this just coincidence and is it 40 precision at my level, or is the tool tip bugged?
Also, I tried choosing another trait and then re-choosing Deep Strike, but I don’t see a change on my stat sheet either way so I have no idea whether Deep Strike has changed, or even if it works at the moment.
