Ive done a lot of testing since the patch came out, this build seems to be extraordinarily effective. Here is a video explaining the build and showing a little bit of game play.
After I made the video, I spent the rest of the day dueling, and have not lost to anybody.
For a quick look, the build is 4/0/2/2/6, battle sigil, doom sigil, strength runes, and celestial amulet.

If it is intended for eles to be able to do all things decently with one build, then there will only ever be one build, that which optimizes everything to the greatest extent.
Currently the “standard” D/D build optimizes survivability and damage, but loses in both those categories to any class running a build intended to optimize the same.
As P Fun Daddy noted there are other classes that, with one build, can fill all roles better then an elementalist.
In summation, if eles can do everything in one build, there will only be one build. If they have a variety of builds, they will always be less effective then another profession running that type of build.
This is all assuming the “jack of all trades” idea.
I have heard that the Elementalist is intended to be the “jack of all trades”, however this makes no sense in a game without the class trinity. Because every class in gw2 is designed to be a jack of all trades, everybody can bunker, dps or support. However some classes excel in certain areas, thieves and warriors in dps, guardians in bunkering and support, etc. So my question is, if the Elementalist is really intended to be a jack of all trades, doesn’t this really mean that the Elementalist will simply never excel in any area and never have a place in sPvP?
In other words, if another class will always do a job better then the Elementalist, why would one ever be used?
I apologize in advance if this thread has already been made but I cannot find it.
The Elementalist has a trait for each attunement that reduces the cooldown of all skills in that attunemenet. No matter the build that I make, I always find these traits of little use, because they only reduce the cooldown of 1/4 of my skills. The alike traits for other professions often have a 20% reduction and a secondary effect. This 20% reduction can also affect 1/2 of their skills because they have 2 weapon sets, where as the Elementalist has 4 attunements. This means that a 20% cooldown reduction trait is significantly more effective on other proffessions.
I propose that the cooldown reduction traits should also apply their effect to the conjure weapon of the same attuneement. For instance if you select Geomancers Alacrity, the conjured Magnetic Shield should have its cooldowns reduced 20%. I believe this would hit two birds with one stone. It would increase the viability of conjured weapons, and the usefulness of alacrity traits.
I understand your concern, sadly I have no way of proving my program is not a virus, though it is only a .py file. I will answer any specific questions you have about how the program calculates dps, how it chooses attunements, and now how it calculates effective health and total effectiveness. The next step will be working on healing.
Dear Anet, after much heirloom farming I have obtained the selfless potion, and I have a request. Please make the Halo Visible, It is currently small, colorless, and obstructed by the players name and guild.
Attached is a picture of someone else viewing my halo.
A moment on my condition Ele.

I am programming a dps calculator for Elementalists right now. So far it can create its own skill rotations, based on the input stats, and tell you all the skills it used in the allotted time period. As well as a total dps readout, this includes condition damage. It works with all weapon sets, and some utilities. The skill rotation is not yet optimal.
The program is written in python, if you would like to try it, email me at evilsnowflake1@yahoo.com.
This is a condition build I’ve been working on for a long time;
