don’t have much to do besides grind
This, because this is pretty much what the entire game is.
I find pretty much all of them horrendous (This includes majority of the dungeon armor). Well, at least for female Elem. I still use some fancy dress thing that looks more like town clothing, since it’s the only thing I can stand looking at (Also, I find it cute).
At first it was a yes, but the way ANet is handling the game is making me see this more and more as a regret.
Help someone with story when it is the same difficulty as exploration, takes just as long, doesn’t give a reward that isn’t even a fourth of what I would make in exploration (Which isn’t even much to begin with there), and with people who don’t know what they’re doing? Please.
Does nobody bother to think “These people are skipping things FOR A REASON” rather than “DESE PPL SKIP THINGS BCUZ DEY NOOBS ND DEY SUK”?
If people are skipping things, there is nothing wrong with them. Them skipping just shows there is probably something undesirable with the thing they are skipping.
but one encounter in particular (the twins) is quite a bit overtuned. Just imo.
Twincest.
Your reward for completion is the satisfaction of taking 2+ hours, spending more money than you made, and not having fun.
It was the chest from the previous event there. There are no chests at the very end of any dungeon.
Only reason to play the game is because it’s F2P.
Here’s the interesting part, during the leveling process, I enjoyed the game a lot. Hell, I would pay for the game on a monthly basis.
Now I have a ranger sitting at 80. A 34+necro/engineering.
However, after having played the dungeons, I have no intention of going back to the dungeons till they are fixed. I really don’t give a kitten about the hardcore fans who are willing to do story mode of an dungeon for 2 hours but I’m not one of those people…neither do any intention of becoming one.
I’ve done enough hardcore raiding to realize that it’s an absolute waste of personal time. What I want to do after I come back from work is relax for a couple of hours and do something fun.
Leveling was fun, but that lasts for X amount of time, after that one looks to do specific things like PVP or Dungeons.
Dungeons, with a pick up group, in this game are absolutely boring and tedious. The part that a lot of fanboys who are supporting this tedious philosophy(that contradicts AN’s so called Manifesto of FUN) do not understand is that people will simply leave if they are not having fun, and that will not only impact the game but ALSO them. The amount of chit chat in genchat/player-interaction/ability to find groups will suffer.
Hell I’ve seen the desire to go to dungeons in general chat(LFG chatter) decline quite a bit.
Regardless, I think no matter what I write, people who are convinced that this is the correct philosophy cannot be convinced, I just worry that it’ll end up like SWTOR, the amount of negative commotion in forums was a very solid precursor to what happened to the game within the time of a year.
One can very well draw parallels to the idiots who were screaming “server pop is ok, go play another game” in that game and people in this game who are saying silly garbage like “go away and play another game, we won’t miss you”.
Trust me, everyone loses with that sort of ridiculous pigeonholed mindset.
By far the best post on here. Especially the final part. People need to get over the entire “IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT LEAVE”. Someone has a problem, they have the right to express it and feel it. If one person feels it, it’s more than likely someone else feels that way too.
I was looking forward to dungeons, thinking they would be fun. I got the exact opposite. I got most of my time in the dungeon being used up fighting annoying elite trash mobs and bosses that are more annoying then fun.
I swear, everyone has different opinions and experiences. “I USED THIS BUILD BUT DIED ALL THE TIME. BUT THEN I USE THIS AND LIVE 24/7.”
It is basically all based on how you play (Besides a few obvious points, like staff > daggers in 99.9% of dungeons. Or some casting times being a tad too long). I went through all maps with dual daggers and thought I survived fairly well and I have an all 30 fire, air and 10 in arcane. Yeah I would occasionally have to deal with a mob every now and then, and I’ve survived as well as died (I expected to die a lot more, but surprisingly didn’t). It all comes down to you, to how you play and what works for you.
Though I won’t deny that sometimes I do feel I take way too much damage compared to the damage I’m giving and the risk I’m taking. If we’re going to be the squishiest class, even despite dumping points into Earth/Water, we should have some more damage.
Also, having the ability to quick change weapons would be super kind. I have found myself sometimes in need of having to switch to something with a bit more range, yet can’t because I have to find somewhere safe in the middle of a mob (THERE WERE JUST A FEW ZOMBIES, THEN AN ARMY CAME AFTER I TURNED AROUND AND I WANTED TO CRY ;~;…).
I had never been so disappointed. I was like “Wow, this dungeon is pretty awesome. I’m scared to see how Zhaitan will be!” aaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd BOOM goes the disappointment.
A lot of the dungeons, I feel, are just too much of a hassle to be enjoyed. Along with being far too long (Majority of length comes from the fact that every monster is elite and come in packs of 3. Then bosses seeming to have an infinite amount of health).
I honestly love a lot of the ideas they had for them, but sometimes it’s just far too much. Protecting Magg at the Kaboom door in CoF/E is ridiculous, imo. You can’t kill the monsters fast enough, and kiting them only buys you so much time. I feel if they’re going to make these mobs have THAT much HP and spawn as fast as they do and as much as they do, they should nerf the damage they can do. You can’t really outrun them without a buff of sorts (Which would sacrifice another, or will be on cooldown), then when a ranger spawns it’s just even more “FML”. If they’re going to make them easier (As in majority of the monsters can be killed in the time it takes to spawn), then they can spawn them in larger groups and spread more across the room.
I understand that they want the token rewards to not be a cake walk, but they shouldn’t make it so obnoxious to the point that people will be turned off from doing them. I wanna say “OH FUN, THAT PERSON IS DOING CoF or CoE! I’LL JOIN THEM”, not “… I don’t know if I want to do it, I only ever hear people talking about how much of a waste of time CoE is, or how CoF is now, in Map chat”.
When I think of fun boss moves and fights, I think of Arah. They did that dungeon so well. The bosses weren’t obscenely hard, they were interesting, they were fun. 360 energy ball spam, exploding zombies, throwing balls in a mouth, firing canons at a dragon. Loved it.
I would love to see dungeons that you could have more people in (10 mans or so?).
Random idea/example of so:
The Pact has a mission to go do something, and it requires using an airship. But you come under attack by _______________. They fire missiles at you, which you have to deflect with an air canon (Kinda like in CM Exploration, they needa look out for those red circles or whatever marking alert) or your ship will take damage. So you have several people running around the ship deflecting them, while the rest are busy doing something else (Put them on canons firing at the enemy ships?). To make it even more fun, randomly generate who goes where. Like people on air canon duty will stay on there for the whole fight, so the rest isn’t such an “OMGOMG NO ONE IS DOING THIS”. Also, of course, add the ability to request a position switch with people in case the one on reflection duty ABSOLUTELY HATES it while another doesn’t mind.
After you finish that part, then the boss appears. He would get his minions on board, while missiles are still firing at you. Then he could challenge one person to fight every % of health or every few seconds/minute. This person is the only one who can do damage and has any CC effects on him. So while you have people fighting mobs and deflecting missiles, you’ll have someone in the center fighting the guy (I imagine it would look kinda epic. In the center of a giant mob fight is another major fight).
Iunno, just a random idea/conglomerate of things I enjoyed that they have done and things I have seen in other games that are kinda enjoyable.
TL;DR: Fun.
Horrid idea. Bosses already take long enough (Sorry, I’d much rather not spend more than 2 hours in a dungeon. Along with also I came home from a frustrating time, and I just want to get a dungeon in before I sleep so I can get closer to buying armors). Plus, when 2+ people die (I.E. Your glass canons, better known as majority of your damage) it’d be pretty much game over. Either that, or they’ll be able to bake a cake by the time those who are more “tanky” finish. So because of one person dying, the whole party would be likely to suffer. Then you can always count on that one person to say “lol u gys nubs bai”. Hell you probably won’t even get a “bye”, they’ll just leave.
I wouldn’t mind if they added it as an /option/, though. Like “Story Mode (Elite)” and “Exploration Mode (Elite)”. Just add a better reward (More tokens/money) or put an increase in drop rate/magic find bonus. Give people something to say “Hey, that was almost worth it”, instead of giving them the “satisfaction of defeating a hard boss without dying and a reward of tokens and bronze/blue items that you will sell and it won’t even come close to how much you can make doing events in the time it took you to finish that dungeon”.
