It’s a dungeon, so it’s not soloable,

The Solo Player
The solo player has become an important audience for modern MMOs. It has become nearly impossible for a MMO to succeed if they leave out the solo player. They are everywhere in today’s online world.
One of the common misconceptions about the solo player is that they want to play the game entirely alone. I do not believe this is the case and I think Guild Wars 2 will prove this point. The solo player does not mind working with other players to achieve goals, they simply do not want to go through the hassle of finding a group, creating a group or dealing with the drama that can come from being in a group. They just want to play, on their own time and in their own way.
Luckily, Guild Wars 2 will give this type of player all the content they need. The Dynamic Events will allow this player to join or leave at their convenience. They will get a “group-like” experience without the hassle of actually joining one. They will be able to jump in, play as long as they like and then leave without having to notify anyone of their comings and goings. They can play on their own time schedule, while still enjoying the benefits of a group.
In addition, if they truly want to play alone they will have their own Personal Story to work through. This feature will give them hours of play time to work through while leveling and no additional players are needed.
Guess I shouldn’t have believed the hype.
slow clap
Well Said !!!
But, then again why should any of the Dev’s care? They do already have our money. Very politician like behavior, say anything to get into office (get people to buy the game) and then ignore all your promises after the election (game launch)

It’s a dungeon, so it’s not soloable,
Which sucks hugely and is a nasty surprise for those who didn’t realise GW2 was a ‘forced grouping’ game at the point it matters.
Yea this seriously ticked me off and created a great deal of distrust with any further PvE content. I mean you go all the way to the end capable of soloing and then BAM …you must group.
Played a lot of MMOs with PERSONAL storylines and never had one that forced you to group to complete your PERSONAL storyline. Basically its wasted space I’ll never experience I can tell you that.
Agreed. Everything else is scalable, why cant the dungeons be scalable for a solo person? Or at the very least, Arah should have a special instance for the completion of the personal story…you know like the instances FOR EVERY OTHER MISSION in your personal story.
Yes its an MMO, fine. And actually I am fairly pleased with all other areas of the game, but to require you to find a group for your personal story completion was a poor decision IMHO. Getting groups together in GW1 was a pain, as it is in GW2. I have no inclination to wait around for hours for a group of unknowns , not knowing if one of those in the group will simply bail out somewhere along the line.
I honestly do not understand the change to the daily’s. Before I just played, if I happened to hit my daily accomplishment, great! It was something of a reward, nothing I really paid attention to though.
Now though we have a list to tick off, gotta make sure I get that box checked! Last time I checked that sounds something like a job, a grind as it were. The dodge and underwater slayer specifically are something of a joke. Now you purposefully look for a mob that you can just dodge over and over to get that box checked? Were not enough people participating in underwater combat, and you had to “force” people into it?
Were too many people getting the Karma Jugs, and you felt you had to put a stop to that? Its not as if you are able to acquire top of the line gear with Karma after all. Perhaps there is some use for Karma points of which I am not aware.
I honestly cannot fathom a reason for this change at all.
NO NO NO
What is it with all of the people that feel the need to always “raise the cap”? What is the need for a bigger number?
I was having this same thing happen.
WinXP, Intel I5 Lynnfield, GTX560TI, 4gig ram installed…yes I know xp cannot access all of that. Dual monitors, I play in windowed full screen
I do have more than 2g free after everything is loaded and running though.
Crashes upon any zone changes were getting worse and worse. I initially thought that it was due to a memory leak in the game as the crash would seem to happen after zoning a couple of times. Crash reports were frequently “out of resources”. But then the crashes started happening more and more frequently, with other error messages.
I deleted the local.dat file, and I have played crash free since that time. May not fix your problem, but its certainly worth a shot.
Indeed. I realize this gate was part of the earlier storyline, but I am at a point where the green storyline direction indicator tells me to go to this gate, but I cannot. IS this gate supposed to be accessible at this point, or is the direction indicator broken?
rename the local.dat in the guild wars root directory. I was having some major crash problems with the game, as well as getting BSOD’s when first starting the game. I tried renaming the local.dat based on something I found in this forum. Honestly I did not expect much BUT much to my surprise I played yesterday completely crash free. AND I was doing the very things that would seem to cause the crashes in the past.
Give it a shot, couldn’t hurt
Could we get a fix for target nearest enemy, so that it will indeed target the nearest enemy..i.e. the nearest aggro?
Neutral mobs are not enemies, and should not be targeted using this key command.
Nor should using this command switch targets, unless another aggro happens to move closer to you than your original target.
Yep, its broken. Target nearest enemy should do just that. i.e. target the NEAREST aggro mob, NOT neutrals.
Can’t play Guild Wars 2 anymore after the new patch receiving BSOD after I open>login>play>CRASH
stop: 0×1000008E
attempted to fix by: Updating GPU driver (updated to no effect)
If anyone else is having this problem (or is aware of a known fix) please let me know I was looking forward to capping this weekend.
If any additional information is required let me know and I will hook it up.
OS: Windows XP proffessional 32-bit
GPU: nVidia 8400
Processor: Intel Dual-Core, 3.20GHz
Similar problem, though NOT everytime. I would estimate I get a BSOD close to 50% of the time I attempt to play. Note: this did NOT happen when the game wast first released, this only started recently.
BSOD is STOP 0×0000008e nv4_mini.sys is referenced as well.
Also on Windows XP Pro. Intel I5, GeForce GTX560TI
All latest drivers are installed, Mem tests run, etc. etc. I am confident there is nothing hardware related wrong with my system. However, this issue is seriously starting to piss me off, as I have a couple of RAID arrays in my system, and each time I get this BSOD, the arrays need to be verified and repaired, which takes a significant amount of time.

I’ve noticed the same thing occurring, Sylvari Thief, dual daggers. I assumed that, though while extremely inconvenient, that the lack of a dodge was due to it being prevented (not interrupted) due to some combat mechanic. I don’t know if its a side effect from the auto attack chain, i.e. attack 3 has just begun, and then you attempt to dodge. Dodge is attempted, but because attack 3 has been initiated, it must be finished so you don’t actually dodge.
Its disappointing that no one from the dev team has replied to this at all though, even if only to say “we’re looking into it”
Oh I didnt know that to kill Zaithan you need the group of 5. That sucks, Im always playing alone lol, well i guess thats good, I will never see the end game
Wow, I too was unaware of that fact. That is somewhat disconcerting to discover to be honest. Of course I am still stuck at The Hatchery, because its bugged and cannot be completed.
I guess I too will likely not end up witnessing the end game.
There isn’t one redeeming quality with regard to this event. The various NPC’s you need to see are either bugged, or the area is overwhelmed with players which leads to either a crash, or renders the game effectively unplayable.
This “event” reminds me of Evercamp…er Everquest. Hundreds of players all camped in the same area, waiting for the boss/mob they need to respawn. Hopefully they get the kill, if not, continue waiting.
This event is abysmal, I personally do not plan to even attempt further participation. I see no point in undergoing the frustration. And for the record, I don’t really care about the rewards, if any, simply being able to play through the event would be reward enough for me. Sure a reward would be nice, but its not the main object for me.
This would have been nice in an instanced form…or even with “instances” of a hundred? players?
Interesting. I will test this out…always wondered why occasionally I would (also thief with dual dagger) leap away from my intended target over to something else.
AH-HA! So that is why. Ive had this happen a few times as well (running full screen, not windowed full screen just to be clear.)
Yes it is very annoying when GW2 suddenly minimizes on you for no apparent reason.
2 monitors; GW2 launches on 1, but cursor is on 2

I have a dual monitor setup, 2x view sonic vx2450, Nvidia GTX 560 Ti, Win XP Pro, Intel I5, ASUS P7P55D. All latest updates and drivers are installed. GW2 running in full screen.
This issue has occurred in the past, but seems to be more prevalent lately. When I open the game launcher, and login all is well. Then upon clicking on PLAY GAME, the game begins to open, primary monitor screen will go dark as game begins to load. Then the cursor will snap to the secondary monitor, it just appears on the secondary monitor for some reason.
The cursor will then switch to the GW2 cursor, and remain on the secondary monitor, while the primary monitor remains dark. IF I three-key and shut down immediately, ill be able to “end task” on GW2, and shutdown. IF I do not attempt to shut down immediately, it will hard lock up, and I will then have to perform a hard shutdown (hold the power button until the computer turns off).
This of course plays hell with my RAID arrays, which then need to be rebuild upon the next boot.
I’ve had this happen up to 3 times in a row, then I am able to play, but there seems to be no reason why it works sometimes, and not others.
Any insight is appreciated.
