It seems people have misunderstood me. When I say community I don’t just mean communication. I meant the public space where people could simple chill, chat, and duel it out.
Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have that. The lobby area doesn’t offer duels, so it doesn’t offer friendly competition and therefore banter.
I don’t expect ANet to make friends for me, but the entire point of an MMO is to play a game and interact with multiple other people. If I just wanted to play with my RL friends I’d simple lan it up.
Where is it though? Does it solely exist in Mist chat? Cause even though I’m playing an MMO I get the feeling I’m playing this game solo. Sure, I could hit up PvE and would receive what I’m seeking, but I don’t have the time for that kitten and PvP is all I care about.
I think one of the reasons most people find PvP repetitive or stale is because of the lacking community in Guild Wars 2.
I know people say you shouldn’t compare other MMOs to Gw2 but I’m going to do it anyway, at least in this regard. In WoW, each faction had a ‘main duelling point’ outside a main city. This provided a place for individuals to showcase their skills as well as interact on a personal level with other PvPers. ANet has no real place to duel, or just hang out for PvPers. The closest thing Gw2 has for that is the general chat in the Mists.
Also, factions helped tighten the bonds between PvPers. They had something to fight for. In Gw2 you’re always playing against randoms and the only drive to win is the grind itself. People like holding up flags and banners. It brings about a tighter sense of camaraderie. When your team is constantly shifting and the players you’re with always different, you don’t really feel any connection or loyalty to them. This is why I find the chat in Public games is next to dead and the few times it’s active, it’s just riddled with abuse (generally by one guy raging).
I know Gw2 is a totally separate experience to any other MMO, but I feel they could greatly benefit from taking a page or two out of other’s (such as WoW’s) books.
/My 2 cents
I’ve versed quite a few mesmers now and was quite easily able to work around the clone thing, as a warrior. But it doesn’t make a godkittenbit of difference. As soon as I catch up to the actual mesmer he either stealths, teleports, or stuns/roots me in place as he gets as far out of range as possible and then nukes me with a brand new summon of clones.
Dumb class that has way too much utility. They have the versatility of a thief paired with the nuke capability of an elementalist with seemingly no downside.
And don’t tell me they don’t have nuke capability when as soon as I get snared I get nuked from full hp all the way down to <10% in a single lot of blasts from their clones.

Yep, and I just discovered I’ve still got this problem. I no longer get the annoying buzz but my game still freezes randomly, with a hard reset required. Seems to happen more often than not right as I’m about to win a match in PvP. Really over this and I’ve only been playing for like a week. Thought waiting for the game to be out this long would give the devs a chance to smooth everything out that was wrong in the beta. Apparently not. So yes, I am still shifting the blame to them, because it’s their fault.
Also as, Tsukaka said. Any form of acknowledgement at least would be nice. But, there’s not even that.

So far haven’t seen tech support jump in to help either me or any one else’s problems so your argument is somewhat invalid.

Because my system has worked fine on every single other game I’ve ever played – all currents included. I literally have a brand new computer, I shouldn’t have to update every single little thing for one game. That’s why it’s their fault. It’s obviously a bug that every other game could handle removing, but Anet couldn’t. And they had HOW MUCH beta testing?

I followed Genezilla’s advice and updated my system BIOS, using the program @Bios for Gigabyte motherboards. Played for quite a bit tonight and I haven’t had this error occur once, fingers crossed it stays that way.
Now to just fix all these other stupid errors I’m encountering and I might be able to finally play Gw2 in peace XD.
Thanks, Genezilla! Glad someone is carrying the slack of ANet.

And the only programs I run are iTunes, Skype, and Windows Messenger, although I don’t always have iTunes running.

I literally just downloaded the latest Realtek Audio driver today. I downloaded the latest Nvidia Geforce drivers yesterday. As for the rest, I checked for updates in Device Manager and all said they had the latest drivers.

This has happened to me at least once a play session and I’m really over it, as I mainly only PvP and this boots me, forcing me to restart a new game – very frustrating.
All my drivers are up to date and my computer has had no problems like this with any other game. Kinda disappointed the amount of bugs this game has been riddled with, not to mention the terrible lag spikes that kick in at peak hour.
You know what would be awesome in this or any of the other technical support threads? A reply from the developers/admins/tech support dudes.
So far I see a lot of threads with a grocery list of problems and not one single solution. Is this the level of service to be expected from a non-subscription based game?
I agree, remove it completely. The amount of times I’ve lost a 1v2 or 1v3+ because I was constantly interrupted trying to finish an opponent is ridiculous.
Thieves are the worst. It literally takes me longer to finish them than it does to kill them in the first place. The fact they can spam teleport/stealth while dead is the very definition ofkitten
