Druid not worth it!

…this game was built without a healer.

ftfy

And now it is being built with one.

And he’s awesome as healer. Pick another class if you dislike ranger/druid so much. There are 8 other classes with their own specialization. Problem solved.

I normally don’t post but I don’t get how any of you guys don’t get each other. Look it’s simple and to the point. You have a class that started for the past 3 years as a DPS, and for that matter one of two classes that time and time again the Meta has said NO to. Yes, if your friends let you roll with them as a DPS ranger letting you show off how good a ranger can be in the right hands that is great! You have no real reason to be here in the forums worrying about anything or defending anything…move on! But know this, your friend are not the “Meta”

Some one a few posts back pointed out how this reminded them of the Hunters Back in WoW, funny enough this reminds me more of the Druid themselves back in WoW. Now for those of you that don’t know, the Druid in WoW could change forms for what was needed, DPS, Tanking, and Healing. The problem at the time was that the only thing people wanted a Druid for was healing, and it was GOOD at it, but those that sat back and learned the ends and outs and knew how to make the DPS of a Druid work where great at it, yet at the time no one wanted them….kind of like now how you have some Rangers out there that could walk into a group and show just how good if not great a ranger can be, but with the meta the way it is…good luck with that.

What is bugging a lot of people is the fact that as it is, trying to get a spot on a team as a ranger is hard enough, throw in a healing spec, and suddenly if a team does want you I am sure it won’t be for your ranger ways! 3 years of being told your DPS and Utility sucks only now to get on a team and be faced with, “Oh we thought you where a Druid…KICK!” or “Do you mind change to a Druid spec?” that is IF the Druid is even good at healing, if not then it kind of puts a lot of people back at square one trying to get a spot in WvW, PvP, and now raids. Once again this is no problem for you at all if you are playing with great friends, or in a very cool Guild.

Keep in mind I am not crying DOOM or saying that others are, but lets be real here people, 3 years…can you really blame a lot of these guys for being worried? And to simple tell them “if you don’t like it play another class…” at the end of the day does that not kind of prove their point and 3 years worth of worrying?

Myself personally am a solo ranger, so like the ranger that play with friends and a good guild, I am good. Heck I am working on seeing if I can get a solo build or two out of the new Druid spec. While I am cool and have no worries, even I can’t come here and tell a group of people that have been putting up with stuff for 3 years who know have raids and other stuff thrown on top of that, and to tell them if they don’t like it kick rocks…just seems kind of past mean at this point don’t ya think?

It’s kind of funny when I see threads like this. It feels like a clash of both the times and style or “Old School” vs “New School”. From what I can tell you have one group that wants to go back to the times when you could simple take 5 to 8 (depending on the game) random people, team up and go into a dungeon and see what adventure is ahead walking in with your own skill and seeing how well yours and 4 others work well together. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss those time cause it was less Mid/Max and more fun to be had where in the end it was a simple as “Boss is down and we are still standing….WIN!”

Now days you have guides left and right tell you what you need, how you need it when you need it and when to do it. Don’t take this the wrong way, a lot of great advice out there and how to make your character as strong as it can get if not more, and for the most part how to win, I mean in the end didn’t we also walk into this dungeon to win too?

My only beef with the new ways of thing is it lacks that….lets say “personal soul” oh it has soul! Just not any of your own really, out side of how well can you read and follow what you are told. But that is a personal beef that for the good of the team I can put aside a lot of the time. I mean some people don’t wanna be in a dungeon longer then they have to be, some just wanna do the best they can do and only get stronger.

I think truth be told the days of forming a team of random people with their own personal builds they didn’t get off a site or youtube is done outside of making your own team, and even then good luck finding 5 or more that feel the same. Thing is, this isn’t really a problem per say, not is it anything that Dev can do, no matter what they change/nerf/add. This is in about every MMO now days.

Like I said, I do miss the days of walking into a dungeon fighting our way to the main boss and having a go at it till we finally won and feeling GREAT about it. More so then the everyone has the same build, with the same moves and same skills, while ain’t nobody go time for “Hello”, WHAM BAM, and we are done, quit team! The only thing I find funny when you think about it is the fact that the only people who still play like that are the very ones making the Guides everyone follows now days XD

They are about the only ones walking in and changing things up, seeing what works and what doesn’t and not quitting cause your team wiped more then once. It’s everyone else that doesn’t
XD

Collection slot for rare crafting materials?

We find rare crafting materials e.g Destroyer Lodestone in game. However one thing which dissapoints me is that there is not a collection slot for those. I have to waste precious bank/inventory space to keep these materials. Since there are slots for other types of crafting material, why not have one for the rare ones? It would save a significant amount of space in our banks and inventories.

Oh man I can’t stress enough, this here times 1,000!! I love the crafting in this game, a lot but between parts of things you make and the crafting materials, I think my bank is crying for some free space.

Which I have to say while I got the chance, I think the way they have the collection slots as is now is great, this change would make it even better!

Cheaper to buy the gold and get skins off trading post.

So I had about 20 or so chest, got a few keys, got lucky and got shoulders, not bad. So I head over to the TP to see the price of the weapon skins, and I see everything sitting at 29 gold and up, this here is the part that makes me sad.

I can’t even get mad at Anet, a little sadden that something like skins wouldn’t be for everyone and stuff like crafted weapons would be the hunting down building up part, yeah. But no I am sad most of all cause looking at the skins in the TP, simple skins, I remember the problems I had with other games before this.

Stuff like this was one of the main problems I had with Holiday events in games like WoW. Simple stupid fun stuff that should be fun for all, break down into people sitting on cash, or lucky enough to get this stuff for fun, that will never use it, throwing it in the AH for crazy amounts of gold and stuff. Once again pointing out, that we are talking about stuff for fun, not the crafted weapons.

It’s okay, I ain’t mad at them, player got to make cash some how right? Just sad to see the for shadow of how this community will be later down the road. I don’t know, maybe I have just been in CoH too long and forgot how communities where outside it.

Oh well, chin up, have fun out there guys, and may you people looking to get what you want that will use them get lucky!

<.< now I got a Necro that is in need of leveling!

Do you find it hard to get past Level 30/40?

I don’t know, are you going back to low level areas in other zones and trying to clear the map? I don’t really have much of a problem leveling more so cause but the time I hit 30 I am trying to hit up every zone I can, high or low level to get the skill points and other things along the way, but like someone else said, crafting VERY much helps too!

Hmmm I think I can sum this up with two words “Sea Witch!”
If you been there, you KNOW what I am talking about! Can hardly get into the bloody door between the fish, the vets, and this is before you even get to the Boss, when you do get to her it just doesn’t stop, even more so when you do kill the boss!

What would it take to convince you ele is good?

Me personally I don’t think the Elementalist sucks, or is underpowered, I don’t even think it “can’t” work in PvE or PvP. No my problem with this class is this. I have to use about 10 or more attacks in almost any fight to stay alive, 5 attacks just to defend/protect myself, and 5 more attack to even get my damage across, and if whatever I am throwing elements at is still standing, I better use the other 10 spells I got and hope I make it.

I don’t think the class needs to be dumbed down or made easy to finish off things in a good one or 2 hits, but I should have to be using every single spell in all 4 elements just to make heads way. I won’t lie, when I started off it was beautiful, like seeing someone do a dance of elements, but as time went on and mobs got stronger, harder and everyone seems to have a chain knock down, that dance turned into me rolling on the ground, be it dodging or getting kicked to the ground.

PvP is no better, I find myself half the time trying to get out of combat to change from D/D to Staff, or from D/D to S/D. I was playing with a friend the other day who was on a Thief and got mad cause they so much was going on in the main fight they had to sit back for a few and fire off shots from a bow. I couldn’t help but think “are you kidding me? I would kill to be able to change to my staff or S/D on the fly!”

I see the videos and the guides and they are all nice and helpful, but I think for a lot of us it’s not so much we can’t play or suck, as much as it is the fact that, if I have to be a super hot key, macro spamming, hardcore gaming set up mouse and keyboard player just to enjoy the Elementalist, what the heck do I have to give to be GOOD at it? I am all for skills and learning curves but MAN does this class have a mean one!

For the players that are good and taking names and never looking back, I am proud of ya! I love seeing you Elementalist in action, but for me for now I think it’s time to take a break a try another class. Maybe to curve was just too much for this player, but better to admit it then say something sucks when so many are doing good.

I am not gonna lie when I first made my Elementalist I shelved it quick cause at the time I was not used to the whole “changing up elements on the fly” and stuff, funny enough it took me playing my Mesmer to get the whole idea behind changing up weapons and stuff. From this point on my Mesmer has been sitting at level 17.

I read a few post on the forums with people saying it would take time till I got a few skills under my belt. Then one day after dying a ton of time I hit level 25, picked up my new trait skills, then BAM! Something happen, it just all clicked, I could take a hit and dish it out, and it was GREAT! Elemenalist for life!!

Then something happen again as I got near 55, I was still dishing it out, but it felt like I had to put so much work into it. Now I have seen that said a lot but no one really goes over what it means. When you hear someone post how they need to use 10 skills to kill a mob, what they really mean is they needed to use 5 skills to not get hit, or take less damage, get out the way, or set up for a shield. The other 5 skills got the kills. This isn’t or should I say wasn’t a big till to me at first till I started running into mobs that seem to do nothing more then to kick you down on the ground. This makes it a joke most of the time to even get an attack off when I spend 95% of the time rolling out the way, only to be out of energy and now spend half my power just trying not to get hit as hard.

This is even made more painful when another class runs out to pull your bacon out the fire with one auto attack that hits like 5 guys in one go, and another skill or two that really drops the mobs before the fight even starts. Like others I find this painful, but not cause some other person can do it, easier, but cause I KNOW I can do that too…if I didn’t have to play super flip out the way and try not to get kicked to the other side of the map time.

I can’t say out class so much sucks or is under power, as much as it is a game of, keep everything perfect, mess up one timing, one skill, doge at the wrong time and eat dirt. Yeah I get the players that like this cause of the challenge, but it feels like that very challenge is one 100% and for some of us that challenge becomes a being put on the edge 100% of the time.

I don’t hate the class, gonna keep playing it, heck my friend text me this morning asking how I felt about the changes? I told her the really didn’t bug me at all, and I get why people are made, and trust me it has NOTHING to do with a nerf to a water skill, as if everyone is in the water 90% of the time!

I don’t want the class to be easy, buy going into every fight using 10 skills to stay alive and 10 more to get the job done is a bit much, I can only picture my Elementalist sitting down after every fight to have a smoke break!

Oh well I am sitting on 61 right now with a new set or two of armors to try and a new build in mind, sorry for the long post!

I don’t know, I saw a sick PvP video posted in these forums a few days ago with a Thief in I think SPvP using it VERY well! He got behind people alright, now like shadow stepping behind them, but I bet you they never saw it coming.

I so like the idea of using it, but how often do you really get a set up to use it how you want to is my problem, that and it seems that when I am ready to use it, it has already reset on me >.<

I would have no problem with the whole “I ran off to save my love” thing if there WAS a thing! After reading the book I am left sitting here going, “how the heck do these two “love” each other?” I mean they meet up in the book like what 3 time, maybe 4? I would even be cool with the whole “love at first sight” thing if there was something to build from and go by.

I mean he meets the Queen the first time, then one other time when “sparing” with his brother, and like what, when he comes to try and I mean TRY to save her? Other then that it’s them talking in letters.

What bugs me more is that even if they did build something there, no way are they gonna let him, no matter how big a hero he becomes, marry the Queen. I feel like I am looking at Link and Zelda before Skyward Sword. I don’t even hate Jennah, but I have yet to see anything that should make him or me, bend over backwards if a leaf feel in her direction outside of “SHE IS MY QUEEN!”

But that is just me, I feel had they really made the two out to be lovers, then there would be no problem see Logan’s side.
