So, I have a question, and I apologize if it’s been asked before, but I can’t find it on the forums.

Why is the Commander Tag Soulbound? I can understand the price, with the amount of prestige that you get with it (even though I don’t understand why it costs gold, instead of BoH or something). But, 100g is a big expense for me, since I haven’t struck it rich with the TP and all the other money makers. If I’m going to spend that kind of money, then, to me, it would be logical to have those benefits for all my characters.

Note: This isn’t a question about why it’s so expensive, nor a complaint about anything. Simply a question.

EB jumping puzzle why be that guy?

Lmao. So many WvW’ers crying about PvE’ers taking up queue spots. If you don’t want PvE’ers in a PvP area, then petition ANET to remove PvE content from PvP. There have already been several from PvE’ers trying to get it out of PvP. WvW has PvE stuff like Vistas, PoI’s, Wp’s, and JP’s. All of the JP’s in the three BL jump puzzles and the EB puzzle gives an achievement for completing it. And sometimes, we (PvE’ers) like a JP so much, that we’ll do it over and over again. I often do JP’s in WvW for that reason alone, but I do occasionally enjoy helping out my server and fight. But, imo, people who do camp the JP’s, or kills anyone “because they’re red”, are being jerks. Particularly the people who do /laugh and whatever after a 10v1 faceroll. Yes, they’re playing the content they enjoy properly, but they’re still doing it just to harass or grief “peaceful” players (aka PvE’ers). They need to either remove PvE content for it, or have a neutral buff that lasts for awhile so that we can’t fight for that entire day or something. To think, I just came to the WvW Forum to get an answer about the Commander tag… >.< Bring the hate!

WvW Cross-Server Interaction

in Suggestions

FearMeLots.1265

@Kal Spiro, a majority of people don’t like griefers and believe that the community would be better off without them. There’s a difference between fighting players for the fun and challenge of it, and just being a kitten. And as it is, there’s still plenty of ways for players to be the latter to each other. If you don’t want WvW to change, then remove any and all PvE related stuff (vistas, PoI’s, JPs) from it and add a separate zone where servers can play together without having the need to kill each other. But that’s very unlikely to happen.

WvW Cross-Server Interaction

I’ll probably get a lot of hate from this, but recently my desire to WvW was kindled. I now enjoy fighting other servers along with my own, and my guild. The feeling of my server uniting to fight and take over keeps, garrisons, and castles gives me a huge feeling of accomplishment and community pride. But, I’m primarily a PvE’er, and as such, I love exploring, and in particular, doing Jump Puzzles. I’ve found lately that when I’m not fighting alongside my server, I’m doing the JP’s in WvW (particularly EB). There’s usually Invaders from the “enemy” servers doing them as well and most of the time, we meet and we destroy each other. But sometimes those people don’t care about anyone else and just want to do the Puzzle. I’m usually one of those people. I’d like to see the WvW JP’s be neutral ground where opposing servers can do it without fear of being wiped and even assist (maybe) or cheer them on. I realize that having the threat of the enemy coming across you adds to the difficulty/challenge of completing the puzzle, but there isn’t a feeling of community between servers what-so-ever. Sure, there’s that feeling with your own server, but that’s it. I don’t have very high hopes that my idea/suggestion will come to fruition, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Staff Walking Animation...

As would I. When I’m walking on my Ele, she’s resting her staff on her shoulder. I’ve always thought that that wasn’t very realistic. Using the staff like a walking stick would add a more mage-like look. Although, I can see the problem with doing that. It’d essentially require adding a third leg for it’s movements/environment interactions to be correct.

A Suggestion/Idea: Make at least one of the Elder Dragons a World Event...

in Dynamic Events

FearMeLots.1265

This would actually make it A LOT more epic. But unfortunately, I don’t see it happening (as much as I would like it too). Here’s why:

  • That is a lot of mechanics that would probably take quite a few months to complete. It might be doable as part of the next expansion. And there’s currently 3 dragons. From what I’ve heard, Claw of Jormag is pretty good compared with the other 2.
  • They’d need to create a database to log who took part in the fight. Otherwise, you’d get all of the farmers who’d farm the dungeon and avoid the fight/pre’s.
  • With all of your points, it may take too long for most people to complete, which would probably mean that people won’t do it. I personally would just on how epic and satisfactory it would be alone.
  • They’d have to be very careful with the normal, veteran, and champion mobs in terms of scaling, numbers, and if the Shatterer made a field of his own brand of fire that nearly 1-shots you, then if the mobs are over-numbered, they could overrun you and just cause frustration and money with the repairs.
  • If not enough time and resources are put into this….BUGS. And we all know how annoying those are.

I’m personally in support of your suggestion, I just don’t see it happening. At least, not anytime soon. Fingers crossed though :P

On a side note, Anet has said that once their “testing” is complete, that they’ll be re-vamping things to be tons better.

Attunement Dancing

in Elementalist

FearMeLots.1265

… is a terrible name.

Can we call this something else?

Seriously, attunement dancing? Really? Okay, so when you swap weapons on other classes, is it WEAPON DANCING? No, it’s swapping weapons. There is no dance. Don’t inflate the concept with some terrible misleading name.

Swapping attunements for whatever reason, to stack boons, to quickly use one particular skill, to combo, you’re not dancing. There is no dance. You’re just playing the class how it was designed to be played.

edit: This is apparently a touchy subject.

Look, the scientist in me is suggesting is we use more accurate terminology to describing game mechanics. Seeing as though it’s virtually identical in practice as swapping weapons, kits, and environmental weapons, calling the simple action of swapping your attunement should be called, I don’t know, attunement swapping.

Send your fastest riders in all directions to spread word to the kingdom.

You’re whole post is pointless and ridiculous. It doesn’t matter…and your “logic” isn’t all that logical.

Would Elementalists be able to use greatswords in the future?

FearMeLots.1265

I personally think that Dual-Wield Scepters would fit perfectly for Elementalist. D/D doesn’t make much sense to me, and I don’t really like the idea of Dual swords. Ele’s aren’t a melee class, unless you’re a BattleMage I suppose. Anyways, Scepters are sort of like our Swords imo. :P

Who are happy with their elementalist?

FearMeLots.1265

I absolutely love my current Lvl 64 Ele. I’ve played an Ele in GW1 and didn’t care at all for any of the other classes other than perhaps ranger. I’m usually having scepter/dagger or staff, and I have my own trait build. I’d like to say that I’m really good with my Ele, I have my own personal play style that works and can last for quite a while whether I’m focusing on damage or support. I don’t do PvP at all really so I also don’t know how I compare with other Ele’s. Versatility and the satisfaction of being able to master my class make the Elementalist very enjoyable for me. It’d be nice if we had more damage output and such, but for me that isn’t a huge problem. Personally, I think it’d be quite interesting to be able to dual-wield Scepters. Makes more sense than dual-weilding Daggers. Ele’s are casters…not melee. On that point, that’s the only thing I hate about our class. We aren’t meant to fight up close. Our job is to hang back and AoE, heal, etc.

As for other classes, I enjoy the Ranger and Mesmer, but haven’t played them a lot except for the BWEs with a Ranger.

Zone Completion Rewards

Once again, it seems that the rewards are messed up. I’m only getting 3 transmutation stones and a little bit of xp. Used to be getting a few silver, 5k+ exp, 2-3 items, and such. Once again completing zones isn’t rewarding in the least.

My suggestions for things in GW2

in Suggestions

Posted by: FearMeLots.1265

FearMeLots.1265

There’s a few things that I would like to see be changed. And I don’t mean to sound like I’m ranting :P

1) Waypoints: Charging for traveling, especially to waypoints only a few steps away, is pretty expensive. And it’s only getting worse. I would like to see travel become free. There are plenty of other things that are eating up our gold.

2) Armor repair:These costs are getting really high as well. Though I think that having to pay to repair armor is a good thing (it encourages players to use skill to avoid being defeated), the prices should either be drastically lowered (perhaps one fixed price) or removed.

3) Zone completion rewards: 3Transmution stones = Ok, XXXX amount of XP = Ok, 1 copper = NO. It takes a fair amount of time and work to complete zones, and being “rewarded” 1c for it, is ridiculous! This amount needs to be ramped up to possibly 1s, even in the lower lvl areas.

4) # of Guilds able to be in: It’d be nice to be in as many guilds as you want

5) BLTP: While it adds an interesting and unique aspect to the game, I personally think it’s ruining the game. It’s seeming like the whole game is focused around it and it may be the cause of why rewards and the value of gold are crap. You either have to be really good at trading and making profits, or be skint broke. I can sell a bunch of greens and stuff on there, and then lose all the profit I made, using waypoints, repairs, etc. Glad it’s up and running now, but it’s ruining GW2 in my opinion.

6) Leveling: I noticed that on the 2nd day of the 3rd day of Pre-Release, there were already lvl 80’s. And this seems to been possible by them crafting. gathering, etc. I’ve been playing since before the start of Pre-Release, and my main is only Lvl 42. I don’t think that you should be able to buy a game, and be able to steamroller through all the levels to a lvl 80 cap in that short amount of time. Perhaps the xp output for those need to be lessened.

7) Mini Pets: I love having my minipets out, but I also like using the “Deposit all Collectibles” in my inventory. But when I do, all my mini’s go away. It’d be nice if they weren’t in the list of things that get deposited, or at least add an option to disable them being deposited.

This is just my honest opinion. But despite all these things, ANet as come out with a pretty spectacular game. I was only introduced to the world of Guild Wars and MMO’s in January, and I’ve been hooked ever since. GOTY? GOTC (Century)

I’m not sure if you played GW1, but Destroyers were extremely difficult then too. You had to pull them one or two at a time, and not use fire skills as fire doesn’t work very well against fire. I helped a friend out with this quest as an Ele. He was a level below the recommened lvl, and me a couple above. Still extremely difficult. But that’s expected. But we got it done with just the two of us with all of the helper NPC’s defeated on about 30 mins. Pulls one at a time and keep moving. I also switched back and forth between staff and scepter+dagger.
