I don’t hope that it is fixed, I expect it to be. Taking a reward that required a great deal of effort to obtain looks badly on ANET’s part. I understand that things happen, but to NOT return it looks even worse.
Mine is gone too! I really liked that mini… Checked the bank, and all of my alternate toons inventory. Watchknight still MIA
lol craft… When ANET was releasing the game they said that they wanted the players to feel like everything was artistic and hand CRAFTed… Crafting is part of art.
If a player is unhappy with a specific part of the game, then don’t take part in what you are unhappy with. The Knight is a work or ART. It was CREATED by a designer, then coded into the game. It obviously was scrutinized thoroughly before it was even added into the game. If it was thought to be offensive, it would have been omitted.
As well as the knights aren’t sex bot, if they were I think they would be performing some type of inappropriate action, or stating an inappropriate phrase. Which they aren’t…
Obviously not everyone is going to be happy, but being THIS nitpicky is ridiculous. If you dont like something, then don’t participate – as no one is forcing you. If all aspects of the female body were taken out of the game, then the female players who are complaining now would complain more because of the sexism in omitting the female body. Let’s stop complaining just to complain. If the knights had pubic hair on the genitals, or if they were 100% anatomically correct then I would understand, but they aren’t.

Would just like to add my piece in as well.. I’ve been having the issue for about 2 months now. Makes it extremely frustrating to play PVE, not to mention almost impossible to efficiently play WvW/PvP. I’m enjoying all the new content that ANET is releasing, but common.. Take a minute to fix pre-existing issues. 10 months pre-existing. I’m sure this will cause players to leave for something else, due to the frustration alone. :/
I love the response to small guilds not having a leg to stand on. That’s quite easy to say when your large guild is able to run the guild missions. Thats awesome that you invite smaller guilds to join the larger guilds missions, but you know what? Honestly, most of the smaller guilds want to run the missions for THEMSELVES! The fact that even guildcast agreed with this segment of the game being catered to larger guilds speaks volumes to me. It is even stated that this is a LARGE part of the game now, not just something that was added then ignored. I personally find it insulting that the smaller guilds are left to flap in the wind. Yea, I understand that banners, and ascended gear can be purchased through other means, but again (as previously stated) I don’t think the issue is about the rewards. It’s about the ability for your own guild to run your own missions for its own members. The fact that I am now seeing the large guilds on my servers shout in map chat for smaller guilds to merge is absolutely absurd. That, amongs other things, is just a small part as to how the smaller guilds are being hurt by this. “How many members? How big is the guild? How far are your upgrades? How much influence do you have?” This is now becoming a basis for players joining guilds. If this is going to be survival of the fittest, I see alot of people, and guilds, being hurt by this.
And to address the issue of the missions being “burnt out” within the first month.. I really have no words for that. If you are able to burn yourself out that quickly for such a large update, then I’m sorry, but I don’t share your opinon. That is just like saying running AC, or another dungeon as soon as it came out would become boring within the first month of playing. Again, I disagree. I’ve gotten all of the rewards that I personally want on my main toon, but I still continue to run the dungeon with guild mates, and I still have just as much fun.
Obviously we aren’t going to agree. I, and my guildies aren’t able to run the missions as we would like, while the large guilds on the other hand could open the missions the day of the update. Its completely different sides of the spectrum.
I see where smaller guilds are coming from but I can’t agree that Anet should reduce the influence costs by how many members a guild has so these smaller guilds are able to afford top tier rewards NOW. Being in a larger guild has its perks, one of them being they gain influence faster than a smaller guild and thus are able to unlock top tier perks (guild missions obviously being one of them). Someone please correct me if im wrong, but once a guild activates a guild mission in the world, other players are able to help this guild accomplish said active mission, correct? If you’re in a small 10 person guild band together and help a larger guild accomplish their mission. You’ll be gaining more influence because your guild mates are completing activities together, you’ll have some experience with the guild missions for when your guild is able to unlock them and kitten! you may even meet some awesome people you want to continue to play with. The guild whose mission you joined may even continue to invite your small guild out to help complete their missions. I don’t think smaller guilds are being ruled out, I think a lot of smaller guilds aren’t looking at the whole picture and just focusing on the fact they can’t have top tier rewards this instant.
I completely disagree. Why would a small guild, wanting to do the missions, want to help the larger guilds with their commendations. Yes, maybe they will earn influence, and things along that line, but in the long run it help YOU! Anet stated a while back that these missions weren’t going to be catered to large guilds, and by what you just said – you proved them wrong! Of course these missions are catered to larger guilds. Also, why should you be in a large guild to get good rewards. Just because my guild is 35, doesn’t mean we are in any way worse than your guild. Sure, you may have more members – but we go for quality not quantity (fyi I am not saying that your guild is incompetent in any way). And I think being punished for that is wrong on ANET’s part. They should really stick to what they said, and include all players for these type of content updates, not just high and mighty’s. Some guilds don’t even care to do things like WvW, and these stipulations are going to FORCE these guilds into doing things they just aren’t comfortable with. ANET made this game, saying they were catering to the individual player, and now look where we are at. I am dissapointed, to say the least. Dissapointed, and afraid that the small/medium guilds are now going to be left in the shadows of the large guilds. By the time my guild is even ABLE to do just ONE guild mission, I’m afraid it will be too late.
Also I would like to add that this is in no way about getting the rewards. Its about being included! Sure small guilds can join the larger guilds in THEIR missions. But, that is earning commendations for you! Which then you can use your newly earned commendations to earn more rewards for you! Where does that leave the rest of us, but with influence. Sure, maybe it will be a little helpful in earning influence, but that still doesn’t help with overall moral for the guild they are in imo.

Anet came out a while back saying this was not going to be catered to larger guild, and that is exactly what this new system does! I am the leader of a small guild, 35 members right now (mostly have 13 on at a time.) And there is NO WAY the price for unlocking the missions is in any way feasible in the near future! Having to have tier 6 I can handle… Still would take some time, but it is somewhat understandable. 50k influence though? For ONE mission at that! There are already guilds who are doing the missions! Seriously! Its great that some guilds have 250+ members and have the influence just sitting around, but what about the rest of the community? My guild is growing, but at this point, I feel this is going to hurt us (And all the other small to medium guilds) more than anything. I am so dissapointed in the update, and in the content all together. It seems like it would be really fun, but as stated – no way we’ll even begin to try for the next couple of months. By that time though, I’m afraid it won’t even matter.
Im am just simply stating that I see how a rifle would benefit a ranger. I already said that all of us aren’t going to share the same opinions. So lets just agree to disagree. But, please explain to me how you draw the connection to a GW2 Ranger and a Park ranger. Comparing an IRL occupation to a fictitious gaming character is absurd. Park rangers are armed, and not with a bow and arrow. How is a park ranger supposed to protect a specific reserve from poachers and the like? By throwing rocks and shooting arrows? I think not, sir. That isn’t even relevant though, this isn’t a conversation about Park Rangers, this is about the GW2 Profession. Please stick to the topic at hand.
Not necessarily true. Being a ranger just infers the meaning of ranged weapons. Yes, to some degree they are ‘nature lovers’ but, that does not cover all aspects of the ranger. I understand that the devs decided to not add the rifle as a weapon for this class, but the greatsword doesn’t really group with the “ranged” weapons aspects, and in my opinion doesn’t really have a place amongst their weapons of choice. I agree with the fact that the rifle is a ranged weapon, and has significance towards the ranger in that perspective.. But, I can also see your point on the lore aspect. BUT, nature isn’t the only lore relevant to a ranger. At this point, I think we are all going to be continuously running in circles with this argument. I agree that the rifle would be an enjoyable addition to the rangers arsenal, while others, like you, would disagree.
You’re really just focusing on the wrong argument here. The ‘they wouldn’t have ammo always ready’ reasoning was a weak excuse to reinforce their own biases against the gun concept. The idea that arrows are more easily acquired than bullets, while true, is a silly argument for a game with infinite ammo.
It’s not like rangers are hermits. Going years without reaching a place that supplies ammo is an extreme.
The argument here (that will not be resolved) is simply “I think guns fit rangers” vs. “I don’t want guns to fit rangers.” The argument is entirely based in preconceived notions of what a ranger is or isn’t. That’s a difficult position for someone to change, and arguing over minute details like ammo acquisition aren’t going to do it.
So again I’ll bring up the potential of the rifle being a pet-centric weapon like no other, because a hunter and his pet hunting companion is the entire concept behind rangers having pets. Duck hunt, guys. That’s a classic hunting archetype, the crux of a ranger profession.
I know one of the counter arguments will be that ‘they aren’t hunters, they’re protectors of nature’ or something, but… that’s absurd to think the two concepts are at all exclusive to one another.
I also think the ‘there can’t be rifles because no new weapons will be added’ is a weird outlook. Of course there will be new weapons. It’s the easiest way to expand the game. It’s the whole draw, as a game designer, to have preconstructed sets of skills— it makes them more modular and easier to introduce.
Obviously this post wasn’t read, which I think says it all. You still seem to be stuck on the aspect of making ammunition. In a MMO that has infinite ammo, and no NEED to reload, the argument isn’t really relevant. If that is your only reason for rangers not needing rifles, then I’m sorry, but I think you still need more backup. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when bringing up irrelevant information you aren’t really helping to get your point of view across.
Devona’s Rest server catapult stuck also. I’ve tried this one specific vista over the past 3 days with no change in the NPC. Talking to the assistant does nothing, and Mad Mardine doesn’t have any dialog option or F key function.
I wonder if there is any specific way to get a Dev to read the topics. Would really like some input for this issue, as I’m sure the rest of you would too. Im so afraid its going to happen again that I don’t want to put anything else back on my laptop. Which is a HUGE inconvenience..
edit: I know that putting programs, and other games I would like back on my computer may not be interfere with GW2 (or have anything to do with the issue at all) but I’m just trying to be on the safe side. This has been INCREDIBLY frustrating, and I don’t want to spend another day or two trying to fix whatever is causing the fps/lag issue again.

Was wondering if there will ever be something implemented to give a free trial to try the game out. I know there was the Lost Shores event, where anyone could play if you were sent an invitation, just wanted to know when this would be available again. Have some friends I’ve been discussing the game with, who agreed they would like to try it out, but currently have no way (Unless I allow them use of my account… NOT happening!)
We all seem to have systems MORE than capable of running GW2 on high, but no explanation as to what happened. As Midgethumbs said, it did seem to literally happen over night, which was the same in my case. Tried reinstalling the client before I reinstalled windows, and that didnt work either. I noticed a SMALL change, but only by no more than 5 fps. Wish the Devs would look into this issue…
I had the same problem! Out of the clear blue sky, I went from right around 80 FPS (everything on high) to 15 maybe 20 and having to drop down to low settings even after installing beta drivers for graphics card. Ran every scan imaginable, cleared some extra space, and so on. No virus’ or malware. Nothing was installed recently either. System ran within acceptable temps from cpu to graphics. (averaging 42 °C to 50 °C) LA took somewhere around 1 minute to load in overflow, and WvW is unplayable (Devonas Rest server). I call it the scrap booking effect, because it seemed more like looking at screens looping than playing the actual game. Everything else I have installed ran fine i.e. Skyrim on ultra, Dead Space on high, no problems. League of Legends ran with no lag. ect ect. GW2 was the ONLY game I was having issues with. Not sure what the problem was, but I did a fresh install of windows 7 and only have GW2 on my computer and that seemed to solve my issue.. Not really sure what it was to begin with. I hope you find an answer to your problems, otherwise that is all I can suggest.
