Feedback + Problem with Portal Components

So I got two of the components on one character, and I got the third on another. I heard Vorpp tell me I had completed that part in game, but I cant use them all on either character. I used the original one (the one with 2 parts) for multiple invasions after that and never got the third piece. Is this a bug? I destroyed the one from the other char; hopefully that fixes it.

By the way, the disconnects after being in those invasions after 41.5 minutes sucks! You lose all progress. Its happened 3 times to me.

If I’m going to be forced into a gear grind to compete, I’d rather do it in a game that does gear grinds/dungeons/pvp better.

This game had one solid pro to outweigh what needed to be worked on, and they decided to toss that pro and ignore the broken content.

Feels too much like Nexon now.

Spot on. In 1 short week the game has emptied because of that feel.

LFG for fractals has even diminished.

Grind monkeys who burn through content have burned through it and, well, everyone else against the new gear tier are gone.

32 people on friends (that was always at least 75% present) and about the same who were “following” me at the same levels are at less than 5 in each over the past week.

Yep and Yep. I’m not sure I’ve seen anything so poorly implemented as the FoTM dungeon system. I can’t believe that got past the “I have a really bad idea” stage. And the small power creep is STILL power creep.

I really liked the PvE 1-80 and they got rid of a lot of what I hated about other games, but to me this game just isn’t all that fun (just a personal opinion). It’s just not that great of a game.

I particularly hate the dungeons. Yes, if you do them a dozen times and learn where to stand, how to avoid half the content, and collect a bunch of you tube videos then they are doable, but that doesn’t make them fun.

Also I hate the risen. Worst mob ever invented. The spawn rate is also just stupid.

But I’ll check back in 6 months, and I’ll check out the Wintersday stuff, but they get no more monetary support unless the gameplay gets much better.

…and that is some really great people playing it (although the forums can be a bit nasty). That is just my own personal in-game experience.

I just jumped into a game that recently went free to play to check it out, and it was not pretty. Two things: 1) the gameplay had been dumbed down to the point that I now understand the term “faceroll”, 2) the free to play attracted every idiot from that other game and the chat was constant “barrens chat” x 100. I’m pretty sure I lost some IQ in the short time I was there.

After taking a few years off of MMOs, I still know what most of the terms mean, but I see the terms below all over the forums, and I don’t what the kitten they mean:

“Faceroll”
Context: “DB plus 3 and 5 = faceroll all through that dungeon, ftw”
Or, “…you are gonna faceroll all the way to 80, bro”

“Theme Park”
Context: “…the game is so theme park, its kitten casualsauce”

“Sandbox”
Context: “I wish it were more sandbox, but love it…”

“RoXoR”
Context: “…LVL 80 RoXoR, LF pwnage and phat lewts!”

Ok, so I might have made that last one up, but what do the other 3 mean?

I strongly suggest you put your thief aside and create another character such as guardian or warrior to begin with.. Even 295 hours + of gametime … being a thief in PVE can be challenging ..

You will have a blast leveling a warrio or guardian and will feel immortal .. once you get used to how things work then also level your thief,

I have 5 characters and i am leveling them all at once.. there is no point in rushing to reach lvl 80

^^ This. Thief is a tough one to start on. I would add that a ranger also has very good survivability, and you will have a pet to take some heat. Its a great class for exploring the world and learning the game. Play on of these other classes for 10-20+ levels until you learn the game some more, then try that thief.

It seems like the gameplay changes every 10 levels or so, more or less. 1-10 is gravy-sauce. I think 10-20 maybe the hardest ones, because you don’t have many trait or skill points yet.

My apology to ANet.

I have seen a huge improvement (reduction) in the number of bots. I recently walked through some DE areas that had been plagued by bots, and they were completely bot free. In fact, the DE started when we were there, and the other players and I actually got beat down kinda hard sans bots.

38 and really enjoy the game. I’ve played MMORPGs (MMOs) since the original Everquest before Kunark (which I still have very fond memories of), but I’ve only played a few. EQ to DAoC to SWG to WoW to SWTOR to GW2. To me, watching the evolution of MMO gaming is as interesting as the games. Watching the economies, the interactions of players, the life cycles of games, whether they die, or what they have to do to keep subscribers, then the F2P concept. Its a really interesting business and social phenomenon.

This post is interesting because I just started thinking about the evolution of the gamers themselves. I didn’t expect this many older players, but I do think it has something to do with the casual nature of the game. In all the MMOs I’ve played, I always hated the end game grind for whatever it was, and I hated raids. I went on maybe 3-4 at various times and always wished I had the 4-5 hours back that it took to complete them.

Anyway, I love that this game does not have that pressure for “uber-ness”.

Cheers.
