I have the same issue with my mac. It def all started after the new patch. It only launches after I restart. The only way I can get it to respond and launch at all is to restart it. I was playing tonight and the screen went black and now I can’t get it to launch. I am tired of restarting just to play… I am getting the message “The application ‘Guild Wars 2.app’ can’t be opened. -1712” Please update us with when you have a fix. Thanks!

@Horst: Great insight! Yeah I thought of it a little that way as well. Energy manipulation on various levels. The fun thing to think about is the “full” potential of a mesmer.
I started a thread on Magic and Warriors a few days ago as the topic was intriguing to me. It started to branch out so I thought I would start another thread on magic. There was really good conversations going on in the last thread. A lot of you have great insight and I was enjoying reading all of your thoughts.
All of the professions are interesting in their own ways. I find there connections to magic very interesting as well. Or more specifically their “potential”. In a game like GW2 you have to balance professions for everyone. But outside of the game (Tyria fiction) there are always those who are more powerful than others. This is due to various reasons. Just like in real life. For example, some people train harder than others or have a natural affinity to what it is they do etc.
What I am interested in is what all of your opinions are about the potential of the magic users in Tyria.
Personally, I find the Mesmer and Guardians very interesting. Their magic is different from one another but I like these professions a lot.
I feel I understand a Guardian’s magic more than the Mesmer’s though. So I will focus on him first. If you look at his skills and at various articles and bits of lore you pick up a lot of different things about a mesmer’s power. They have a truly interesting potential. Potential to be very powerful. If a mesmer were to focus on certain aspects of his power he can be much more than just an “illusionist”. They can warp reality and speed up time. They can teleport, turn invisible and manipulate energy. Not only that but physically they have the potential to be excellent fighters or duelists as well. Think of the utter potential that is there… As I said all of the professions are interesting I just happen to really like the mesmer. I look forward to all of your insights on the topic… And thank you!
Good question. Definitely wish that was in our beginning stories. I have a mesmer and he is my favorite. I absolutely love the idea of the pure potential of a mesmer’s power. It would have been cool to have chosen the way you learned your power. Maybe it could have been used in further developing your character…
@Konig: Well said. I was thinking the same. I find it interesting… In game mechanic terms a warrior seems like a cross between wolverine and the hulk. Maybe he is using an innate power. Maybe not…
Hi! I was reading about the lore of magic and how it is within everything and in every being in Tyria. The lore section on magic talks about how some beings are born without magic, which is not common. My question regards warriors. Besides signets do they have access to magic in a different way? I am wondering if the adrenalin mechanic is meant to be like an “inner” magic that helps improve their healing, strength, skills, etc. as time goes when they are in battle. Or do they not have a connection to magic? What do you all think? Is there an explanation somewhere? Thank you for taking the time to read this!
I also run a 20/20/0/0/30 build after update. I am actually really loving it. The torment is fun. There is still some work to be done for us mesmers but I am having fun with what we have. Have a great day everyone!
I for one am definitely liking the new torment added to shatter. I am face-rolling stuff on PVE as well. The update was far from perfect but I am having fun with this new trait. I am hopeful us mesmers will get what we have been asking for with all the bug fixes. Anyways, until then have fun all.
I have to say I am pretty tired of everyone doing nothing but trashing certain builds for being good at something. What’s wrong with a PU build? It has it’s strengths and weaknesses just like every other build. That’s why they are called “builds” there are plenty out there. Love how everyone jumps on a bandwagon to hate on some of the builds out there. I think all of the builds people come up with are pretty cool and it is part of the game.
This guy shouldn’t be hated on just for his build. Give constructive criticism. This is only a game. And not everyone plays like a pro. He just wants to know how to be more mobile.
