This is the flaw with the system Anet uses, upward mobility is not there for most tiers.

I think the only issue is that the #1 server in a tier needs to win by too many points to gain rating, and the #3 needs to lose by too many points to lose rating. At certain point, you have to stomp or get stomped to move up or down. This phenomenon has caused TC, for example, who is obviously capable of being competitive in T2, to remain stuck in T3 for 5 weeks. IoJ moved down one and TC moved up one and neither tier had a blow out. So I think there’s some room in the ratings formula that shakes up the server rankings a bit more each week to more easily bring some fresh match ups from time to time.

IOJ lost one of its major oceanic guilds as well as a few other guilds during last weeks match up with Sor and BG. Two or Three weeks ago, it would have been a blow out if we were in T3, but now, it’s a pretty good match up. I don’t think that has anything to do with the shortcomings of the ranking system.

IOJ lost HIRE, but many of hire stayed behind and formed into another guild.

I’d roughly estimate we lost 10 percent of our oceanic presence.

Not possible. If the loss of players was really that minor why are we sitting at 70 ppt atm? Compared to a couple weeks ago, where we’d easily be pushing close to 400 at this point.

Marked increase in alt + f4. I dont get it…… the people logging are getting stuck in qeue and just wasting their time either way, while the victor gets a good laugh.

BG and IOJ don’t wait in queues to wvw. thats a SOR thing.

They still have to restart their game and go through loading screens :/
I dunno i’d just be too annoyed by the whole process of restarting then thinking about how I got beaten so bad that i had to alt + f4, all the meanwhile knowing my glorious opponent is lulzing with his guildies, during the loading screens.

You don’t have to alt-f4, going to character select accomplishes the same thing, and if you load fast, there isnt a significant difference than from just dying.

IoJ won’t beat SoR again. IoJ just needs to get out. This week is strictly SoR vs Blackgate, like it has been for the previous 3 weeks as well.

IoJ, no disrespect, but you guys aren’t a T2 server, and I wish ArenaNet would fix their ranking system so a team that continues to win competes against other teams that continue to win LIKE THEY SAID WHEN THEY WERE DEVELOPING THE GAME.

It’s time to bring Tarnished Coast in here. They may not be as good as SoR, but like SoR they don’t give up. IoJ is like the lonely bully that randomly throws things at people to make them wonder who keeps throwing things at them.

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy but Tarnished Coast wouldn’t fare any better in T2 than IOJ currently is. In fact, they would most likely being doing worse.

IoJ is really starting to disappoint me. If I could cross server group for fractals with my pve’ing guild mates, I’d consider moving at this point. It’s like we peaked at Tier1 decided we’d done all we could in WvW, then ran off to PvE events starting with Halloween and never looked back.

Personally, I’m out there every day I’m on. First thing I do after checking auctions is click WvW and head out to the first BL that’s open…. where I’m running around solo in a sea of towers sporting other people’s colors, outmanned and trying to avoid zergs. Where is everyone?!

You can? Just invite them into a group and hop into the same overflow in LA.

anti stealthspam ghost patch

Are you sure you’re not in stealth? Lately I’ve noticed that the stealth graphics wont go off a good portion of the time when i stealth with my thief but looking at my buffs, I am indeed in stealth. It threw me for a loop at first, I would end up revealing my self because I thought I hadn’t stealthed when I had.

Just make sure you’re paying closer attention to whether or not you have the stealth buff.

WvW Server ranking system isn't fair

So in order to stay on top you cannot relax for a minute or you will landslide in rating.

None of the top servers are ‘relaxing’, many win their bracket and still lose a LOT of points against the servers they beat, but end up behind them after the next match making, pretty sure this system doesn’t exist in any popular sports/e-sports.

This isn’t a sport, nor an esport for that matter. The rating system is completely fine the way it is.

LOL, they aren’t excuses. I’m honestly not exactly sure what happened to our server. This is not the IOJ that played on equal footing against SBI and JQ last weekend. Tonight, only EB and Henge had ques, both of which weren’t even half an hour long. That was only for the first couple of hours tho, now all the borderlands have no que at all. Last weeked, the que time in all the borderlands was almost 2 hours long(longer in eb) until well past the current time. I just have no idea what happened to our WvW player base.

I see a few posts about missing opportunities for points. Well, let me say that I had a lot of free time this week and was able to play on multiple borderlands. At times It would be us(IOJ) and one of the other servers double teaming the third for a while and EVERY single time(that i was on to see at least) and a Commander made a move to hit the server that was preoccupied.

One of Two things would occur. Even if we took it, 15 minutes later it was gone and the full attention of the enemy was now on us. Or, in the case of the our home borderlands, we would RARELY take it, and within the next 30mins we would all our keeps/towers/camps to attacks attacks from both JQ and SBI. So did IOJ really lose out on points by not taking every chance it got to attack with SBI forces focused on JQ? Probably not. Atm, we lack the coordination/numbers/intelligence(I saw more kitten from players on IOJ in the last 3-4 days than I’ve seen in the entirety of a month) to take advantage of good situations when they present themselves. Well, at least on the weekdays that is.

Hey IOJ , I know you think you are clever and stuff teaming with SBI and thinking ill help you bump us to third. Its not feasibly possible unless SBI gives you a 200+ point lead which isn’t going to happen.

You just got used like a dirty condom, way to give into the mooch and free labor.

Not in game atm, but i can say double teams always happen. When the opportunity presents itself, we take it, just like JQ and SBI do as well. And honestly, who cares? Double teaming the strongest team is the way the game is intended to be played. Pushing JQ into 3rd is basically impossible at this point but limiting their point gain while maximizing ours comparatively is probably better for IOJ at this point and the only way that we can possibly stay in T1 for next week.

Take away the Thief stealth and Shadowing ability, and you’ll have free badges. I’m not giving you a free badge.

That’s fine. Leave stealth the way it is. Just modify the flag capture algorithm so that players “under stealth” does not prevent flag capture. That’s how it works in WoW.

This isn’t WoW. The only reason Thieves can perma stealth is because of the rendering issue.

Well OP, I think you have your answer. You can either set up multiple siege to hit the stack so they can’t adjust in a way that won’t leave them vulnerable. Or as someone else said, just ignore them and ward other players off of them. No matter how you look at it, 30-40 players guarding a supply camp isn’t efficient. And we’re not even talking about a T1 server that usually has a 100+ players running around the zone. Strike something else, a tower or keep, hard and fast and then laugh at them.

With WvW’s current design and how easy it is for servers with a slight advantage over their competitors to snowball their matches, 2 week long matches would be the nail in the coffin. Even after free transfers end, unless the servers are perfectly balanced in their respective tiers,(which will never happen) this will continue to occur.

Any Norn. The Snow Leopard elite is amazing in terms of escapability. A 5 second stealth with a 10 second cd, as well as a charge with a 10 second cd that goes an absolutely ridiculous distance in such a short time. Dont be fulled by the tooltip btw. It says the range is only 1600 but that isnt the case. Its nearly 3 times that distance. Now imagine doing that 3 times in a little over 20 seconds while being stealthed a good portion of that time. Nothing can keep up. =)

Someone on SBI wanna explain how you guys reset our orb on JQ borderlands? I’ve basically been on the entire time since reset hit(beside about 1hr) and don’t believe our hills keep was penetrated at all.

Well if IoJ keeps using exploits we are boned.

No exploits were used. We broke down your northern gate and waited inside for about 20 mins. You guys didn’t even bother checking your keep after that gate went down. After that, we slowly began taking down the keeps inner wall with a cat and called reinforcements to escort the orb. Don’t call exploits just cause you guys got outplayed.

FF doesn´t work only because the game flags you in some way. Nothing is stopping ANet from reversing that flag.

Just letting people know who’ve had garrison ninja’d from them, it is possible to get into garrison while bypassing the outer gate. Hacks needed? No. Exploit? Maybe, but it’s very similar to what players were doing in Cof, so chances are, no one’s gonna be punished for it. Want to stop it? Figure out how to do it and take necessary precautions.
