On Lottery (RNG) Boxes

I like this thread.

I am to a degree still a fanboy with my CE Rytlock sitting on my shelf, but I don’t like how this is RNG stuff is going and this thread is really succinct about this problem, I feel.

As a pet collector I was completely ready to go buy a gem card this past week to buy more with these young animals popping up for May (I’ve bought basically all the guaranteed pets/ pet packs released so far in the shop, the others via gold since I don’t like gambling on the 3-pet pack), but since they decided to RNG these new Lost Shores pets, I decided to not even bother since there is no way I’ll basically be able to reasonably obtain all the pets without tossing a ton of money at lady luck.

Even offering the boxes through non-gem methods isn’t foolproof – I worked my rear off during the karka event to craft as many of those RNG boxes as possible and didn’t get a pet out of a single one and was very disappointed. Had I been able to gather tokens to turn in through the boxes like someone mentioned, I would have felt that my mindless crafting would have had some real reward to work towards. I’m not even going to bother farming these boxes this go around.

Some of the options offered in this thread are not bad ideas and I hope ArenaNet listens.

Only complaint – I could not do this on my computer even with the graphics turned down all the way for some reason. Never had a problem before, but it would just load up too slowly and I’d be ported back to the entrance/ snowflakes gone by the time the loading screen popped. I didn’t even have that problem with the Halloween puzzle with graphics turned up. Thankfully I could go play on my boyfriend’s ridiculous gaming rig, but without that I probably would not have been able to to the puzzle at all. Something to look into.

I enjoyed this one – I’m not the most coordinated, but I managed to get it after about an hour of tries. Not as harsh (time-wise) at the Halloween one, but I preferred that and think the reward was appropriate. I still enjoy the timed style of these.

I liked how clear the course was laid out (mandatory imo since it is timed) and that any failures was my fault. I did not like the Halloween puzzle as much because of how many places you could get accidentally hung up. I liked being able to watch other people do the course so I could get a heads up on future problems like the wind."

I especially liked how the start was split up.

As someone who hasn’t been able to play much due to real life circumstances, I thoroughly enjoyed this event! I’ve been very busy but my other half and I made sure to set aside a bit of time to enjoy the different acts together since it was something we were looking forward to.

I wasn’t interested in any of the skins, but I still opened a few chests, just in-case Otherwise I was able to get the 2 titles as well as the 2 free hats with with the time available. I even snagged the exotic shoulders for my beau! Lots of fun and I enjoyed this a lot – we both are excited to see what happens later this month.

I do agree that times should have been posted on the launcher, but I had checked the wiki out of curiosity and found out when the different acts would be starting through that so we could plan our spare time accordingly.
