Attempted to do the forgotten route last night, we got up to Lupicus. Phase 1 went as normal, but in phase 2 he started randomly resetting to the beginning of the fight (full hp, not aggroed, but sometimes not even losing the grub buff). This was not due to line of sight issues – at one of the points he reset I was standing within 600 range of him (which I know because my guardian staff attack was hitting him). I was the only player not downed or dead at this point – is the reset intentional? Does he require a certain number of players alive to prevent him from resetting? We did eventually manage to kill him by pulling him to the waypoint and zerging him (with multiple random resets along the way) while I have managed to kill him in his room before. This has only happened since the most recent patch, and I’ve never heard of anyone else having this issue, so I can only assume that something was broken in this patch. I really like Lupicus – he’s easily my favourite boss in the game – but given these resets there seems to be little point in running Arah explorable at the moment, especially given that you only get tokens for finishing.
Updating this, we managed to complete the instance on the ‘Forgotten/Glint’ route, so it is possible to complete. Apart from the high difficulty for Lupus it was bug-free, so anyone who does Arah explorable can hopefully complete that one. We also tried the Jotun route but had to stop at the tar boss when we ran out of time, though up until that point it seemed to also be bug-free.
Myself and some other guild members attempted this route of Arah tonight and encountered a lot of bugs and balance issues. I have also done the Glint and Mursaat routes up until the Lupus midboss, but they were, at least the parts of them which I saw, far less buggy than this route. I may misremember the exact boss names, so please bear with me.
- The Priest of Melandru (?) who spawns poison trees is easily beatable by allowing him to spawn as many trees as he can on one side of the room, then moving to the other side of the room, as he will no longer spawn trees and so can be easily attacked.
- The Priest of Lyssa (?) who was disguised as a whispers’ agent became stuck on the statue, and stood there and did nothing as we killed her.
- The Lupus midboss is vastly out of step with the rest of the instance, before and after him, in terms of difficulty. We were all geared in exotics, had consumables and had attempted him before so knew what to do, but even if we didn’t allow any grubs to reach him we were unable to beat him without pulling him all the way to a waypoint and resurrecting repeatedly. It may be that it was intended to be difficult, it just seemed out of place.
- The debuff of the Priest of Grenth can activate even after he’s dead whenever a party member moves through the room, and can affect party members across the map from the one who moves through the room.
- The sparks spawned in the Priestess of Dwayna fight were where we eventually had to give up. The animation showing which spots had been activated by a spark and which hadn’t were messed up, so some would appear to be activated when they weren’t and vice versa. They would also sometimes get stuck on each other or not activate when they were over a spot, so the boss would continually regenerate to full health. She would also occasionally reappear before any sparks had been brought to the right places, but then would disappear almost immediately after, with the sparks respawning.
It may well be possible to finish the instance on another route, but all of these issues make it extremely frustrating to do, and it doesn’t seem right that we got through what we did because of or despite significant bugs.
