Literally tried everything, from a full computer wipe, fresh windows install, updating drivers. Deleting drivers/reinstalling drivers. Taking apart the computer, piecing it back together one part at a time. I took the advice of other posts but nothing seemed to work.

That’s about the time I discovered what I believe to be the issue… After all that. The simple solution was that I had a bad plug, and not enough power powering the PC. I don’t understand how that happens I’m no electrician but whatever. I changed the location of my PC and tested multiple outlets in my home. So far, no crashing since I started the game up but I may be early posting this as a fix so I’ll update if the problem persists.

Black screen and crashing randomly in game

apparently lots of various crash issues lately, I believed mine to be associated with an Itunes install. That seem to be remedied once I uninstalled it from my PC. However, I just experienced more crashes just like I experienced before. I get no errors from the game however, because mine crashes my entire computer. Screen goes black, and pc reboots. Then every time I select a character from the character select screen and attempt a log in, it will again crash my cpu, and my system reboots once more.

I really want to download itunes again, I have a desktop that I’ve cleaned out the harddrive with a fresh install of Windows 10 and nothing else. Downloaded Chrome, Guildwars 2, Xpadder, Itunes, and Malware Bytes(Only because I thought it may help solve some issues that popped up). So literally the day after downloading Itunes, my computer began crashing randomly. I thought perhaps one of my cats had chewed on a cord or perhaps stepped on the on/off switch of my powerstrip under my desk. After a few more days, I began to log into Guildwars 2 and get as far as the character login screen. However after choosing a character and clicking log in… The computer crashes and restarts itself. My hardware is beyond the minimum requirements needed for playing the game. I only wish to know if anyone has any suggestions or perhaps has dealt with Itunes screwing up their computer/game before as well so I know how to get around this or what to do to fix these issues. I will also post a help thread for apple customer support, but I already don’t like their products I just would like to be able to access my music and other things I’ve purchased from Itunes and their program not cause me any greif.

Before someone starts to argue that it’s not Itunes and could be some other issue causing these crashes… I have uninstalled Itunes and done nothing else and Guildwars 2 will run perfectly smooth and allow me to log in again. It is only when I install Itunes, things begin to happen to my computer that I cannot explain. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated if anyone has any thoughts and if the apple tech support has any solutions for me in a timely manner, I’ll be sure to update this thread if It might help someone else.

EDIT: Well, Itunes is still gone as of now and the crashes have come back. It seemed to work again after uninstalling Itunes. However, I played for a bit today after at least an hour of gameplay I crashed during a dungeon, then attempt to log back in when the computer rebooted and It continually crashes each time I attempt to log in to a character from the character select screen.

yup, turns out I wasnt paying close attention to the item name. It was just an inscription I bought as stated above. I was trying to buy the recipe but didn’t know there was no such thing. Nothing was actually wrong after all, just really sleepy late at night and not paying as close attention as I thought I was.

I purchased the recipe: Sentinel’s Mithril Imbued Inscription from the trading post. I DO have 400 weaponsmithing, however when I right click on the item in my inventory the only options it gives is too… mail item to, sell on trading post, buy more on trading post, or destroy. Double click does not work. I even purchased the upgrade to Heart of Thorns from my old GW2 Collectors account just to see if it was an HoT locked ONLY item. Well.. the problem still exists. This item is simply un learnable.

Anyone else experiencing this glitch/bug? What can I do?

Thanks,
Pcole

3 Guildwars 2 instances

I’m currently shopping for additional computers/internet for my home. My wife and I are using our cell phone unlimited service/hotspot on our phones to power our desktop and laptop to play already 2 instances of Guildwars 2 in our home. We do have a smart TV. However we already often have communication issues with the servers as it is, and we’re thinking of adding another desktop to our home for our daughter to join us in the game as well. So…

My question to people out there who are more knowledgeable than I… is what kind of internet service can I get away with being able to play 3 instances of Guildwars 2 in my home? It doesn’t have to be amazing service but playable… I don’t want to disconnect or lose connection on one or all accounts as we’re trying to load Lions Arch together or anything like that.

The services I know are offered in my location are…

Dial-up for 56kb/s
Internet25- 25mb/s
Satellite – Not desirable, but if someone says it’s functionable and cheaper than other options I may go this route.

At this time, these are my only 3 options. What speeds should I need/bandwidth.

Thanks SlippyCheeze,

Looking into that. My desktop seems to be working better than my laptop now. I’m losing connection and getting the error that says something like can’t connect to the server on my laptop more often after I’ve updated with a fresh install of WIndows 10.

Thank you for your response.

I’m uncertain that it could be a corrupted file, since I’ve had limited success walking around in THE GROVE completing a quest or two before getting the following message, “The game clinent lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting client and try again. (Code=7:11:3:191:101)”. The graphics are turned down to best performance/low settings for my desktop, as is the laptop.

I will take your suggestion with GPU-Z and report back my findings. I still just get a sick feeling it’s something wrong with something hardware related.

Also, I recently in the last 24 hours reformatted the harddrive and started over with a fresh copy of Windows 10 on the Desktop, and re-downloaded Guildwars 2 from scratch and this problem still persists before the clean re-install and now after as well.

EDITED: 24 hours later…

So, I am running GPU-Z and not much has crept up as in problems with my system. However I came across another thread about the error code I was getting and people were suggesting they solved theirs by #1 Calling their ISP/service provider and hashing it out with them, #2 Rebooting their router/updating firmware and such, which led me to discover an update for my wireless N card installed on the desktop.

I’ve updated the drivers to the latest available for my wireless card and am able to play somewhat better than before. I now know nothing is wrong with my graphics/RAM/hard drive/heat sink. None of these avenues of troubleshooting and testing helped out. This issue/code seems to strictly be related to packet loss due to your connection being stable. Go figure the code actually hinted at the exact problem…

Anyway long story short I’ll still probably have connection issues as we have no dedicated broadband/internet service and my wife and I use our T-mobile phone hotspots on our phones to play Guildwars 2. It works perfectly fine most days until our service gets bumped from 4G to 3G. I’m told this happens because my service may switch from one tower to another outside my network “while traveling” which somehow happens when sitting in the same spot at my house quite frequently apparently. Also, it happens when/if there is any maintenance on towers/the network. If there are any others out there who also choose like us not to pay for a dedicated broadband service just be aware that services such as T-mobile and other phone services which allow you to tether your phone to devices as a hotspot DRASTICALLY reduce your download/upload speeds on the devices connected to your hotspot. Your phone will have normal internet speeds capable of running youtube/many apps but you may be required to close all other data consuming apps on your phone/tablet in order to successfully play a game like Guildwars 2.

I appologize for being long winded, but hope this somewhat explains and helps someone else with similar issues to mine.

So, I have two computers at my house. A desktop and a laptop. My laptop spec’s are as follows…

HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC
x64 based PC
AMD A8-5550M APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics, 2100 mhz 4 cores
6GiG RAM
HGST HTS541075A9E680 SATA Disk 5400rpm 1 Tera Byte HD
WIndows 8

My Desktop is as follows…

Cyberpower custom PC
x64 based pc
INtel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @2.67Ghz, 2668 Mhz, 4 Cores
Nvidia Geforce GTS 250
Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 ATA Device 1 Tera Byte HD 5400rom
6 Gigs of RAM
WIndows 10 Home

The reason I list both computers is because my laptop somehow runs the game smoothly no matter where I travel too. However my desktop is freezing up everytime I enter the Grove of SYlvari homeland. I haven’t even tested going to Lions Arch yet. I figure it may be due to my hardware but I’m not sure what may need upgrading or what may be malfunctioning because my desktop used to play GW2 just fine. Any ideas?
