I think the minipets should have their own “collectibles” that travel with you, something on the Hero page maybe?

Not sure if we can Macro the summoning of our minipets or not, but a summons button or slot would be nice too.

@Foxtail – I agree with you. +1 Also thank you for presenting your opinion in a civil manner. Not once did you mock other players or forum posters. I wish we had more posters like you.

I try not to lash out at others, only when they start throwing spikes first do I feel the need to retaliate.
Of course, only when it gets out of hand. If you don’t think I’ve done that yet with LaughingMan, then I am quite surprised. XD

I feel that the “majority” of people who are wanting a grind or something to push for, for extended periods of time… Are missing out on what ANet intended.

No, they did not want long intensive grinds for weeks to obtain things.
Yes, they wanted a world to explore and learn about the stories!

I feel they’ve accomplished their goal and if exploring and learning stories isn’t for you, then perhaps you’ve picked up the wrong game?

Yes, something to work for in a long run would be nice, but I don’t feel that’s their goal with this game. They didn’t intend for players to just run into an area, complete a heart and leave again. I find quite a few players who are demanding what you call “end game” are those who just rush through everything without taking the time to read everything along the way.
The Karma hearts do take part in a story that exists in that zone and sometimes even carries out into other zones.

I believe the story, the exploration, and the learning is the point of GW2. Not the grind, not the “be the best of the best”.

Who said anything about WoW?

I did, generally when you make a comparison you need something to compare to.. Yes? I have friends that come to me and say they prefer many things about GW2 over WoW, and I have played WoW since it’s release.
So it makes for good comparison when I look at the two games and how players react and interact with these things. Hearing that GW1 was so popular I feel that GW in general could compete with WoW’s 10+ years of popularity and performance.

Since you are asking for “end game” now, before the game is complete… That is why I referred to WoW and their “end game’s” before completion.
So don’t get your panties in bunch because I’m comparing the two similar but not so much… games.

This game has great potential, I am very pleased that I got into it and seeing people who are demanding so much more out of it just to stick around after it’s only been out for less than a year now, breaks my heart. Sure there isn’t much “end game” like you’re asking for, but there are many things you can do in the mean-time until more/new content is released. Find something you enjoy doing, be it map completion, achievements, PvP, WvW, whatever… Sometimes you must make due with what you have, because it isn’t always best trying to push for something that could bring more strain on the team, the game, the servers, etc;
The problem with WoW’s multiple “end games” is because people push to be the best part of teams, and the old “end game” content gets forgotten. Unfortunately this really leaves no room for those who aren’t that good to improve because they aren’t learning from anyone. I agree that when they do get nearer to some “end game” content that it should be something difficult and players will need to learn before they’ll be able to achieve whatever “prize” might be waiting.

But if you’re going to give up now, simply because they don’t have that yet… Then perhaps you’ve already given up on the game and should move on. You can always come back when they do release what you’re looking for after all… This isn’t a subscription game. ;P

No endgame other than WvW. The players who keep saying, “The game is the endgame!” are just anet parrots and absolutely nuts. Why was GW1 so popular for so many years after it was released? Why did people keep playing even PvE for so many years? Challenging end-game areas, and truly open-ended character building, which took trinity and threw in hybrids and so many different options.

GW2 after you have made a couple chars and leveled to 80, PVE has NOTHING to offer. What, do Orr quest chains over and over? Boring. “Explore”? All the hearts are “kill x” and frankly, if you are saying to play the game itself is the endgame, you have not made more than one character.

GW2 needs a radical change in how character skills are handled, need more freedom and more possibilities with builds, and needs combat to not be just a numbers fest.

They may have one moderator reading this section just to remove posts that are foul rants, but almost nothing anyone has suggested in here has been even close to implemented.

The game is turning into a korean-style cash RNG squeeze while the game is dying. NCSoft and Anet have some financial and structural problems, so this may not change anytime soon. Anet is designing content around the gemstore, rather than the other way around.

Pick up GW1, hope they keep the servers up for a while.

You seem to forget that this game is still fairly new, it’s not even reached a year old yet! I’m sure the game isn’t even officially “complete” so the “end-game” doesn’t exsist for that reason. This isn’t WoW, they don’t have end-game increments based on your level and expansion.
I mean, look at all of WoW’s old “end-game” content, no one even touches that anymore except to farm out a new pet or fashion item. Expecting GW2 to do what WoW does with their “end game” is asking for an awful lot if you ask me, cause I’m afraid once you add things like that you can’t really take it back out again without being swamped with complaints from players who probably aren’t even going to touch it again anyway.

I’d like to direct all you “lost in my bags” people to the handy little search option your inventory has. Simply type the item you’re looking for into it, and viola! It’s found with ease! ><;

Yes this search even brings up items that don’t have the weapon/armor type in the name… I just tested it. My “Healing Shiverpeak Club of Force” came up as the only thing in my bag when I typed in “Mace”.
So really, there is no need for a “placeholder” to swap out your single to double item weapons.
Should be thankful they at-least give us an option to switch weapons as easily as we can, and while in combat too! I know of no other game that lets you swap out weapons or any kind of gear while in combat.

The problem is that GW2 content is not fun after the first two or three runs.

That’s the problem with all games, this is why they create multiple paths you can take with different quests that tell different stories.
If all your characters are the same race, and you keep running the same little quest hearts each time… You’re going to get bored.

Player and Guild Housing ideas

I think this shouldn’t be instanced, but an open world area so you could interact with your neighbors and with the living world. That’s why I thought of Southsun Cove, so you had to defend your house from wildlife. Karka attacks would be an even greater event if you and your neighbors had to fight four your own houses.

The problem with making things like this instanced is that it will eventually over-populate the maps. Imagine if every player and every guild had their own guild hall and house. While the maps are big, this game is still rather new and I’m sure there are many new people still joining the game play. Even if the player/guild housing required gems to purchase land on the world maps, because the gems are accessible without actually spending real money, through a trade system. Everyone would aim to have one.

Yes it would be nice if we had neighbors and the like, but think long-term here. Instanced housing, if they were to add it, would be the best way to go.

Also, if they did create player housing, it’d probably be best to do account-wide housing not per character. For the simple fact that if say you deleted a character, there’d have to be code to remove the housing for deleted characters, not to mention more code just to have multiple homes per account kind of ordeal.

Now if my Guardian could walk into my account-wide player home and see my Ranger’s pets roaming around in a “pet pen” that’d be neat. But I do feel that even creating a “pet pen” might be a lot of work too. Yes these animals roam the world on their own as it is, and they do “spawn” at your side when called but they’d have to code for the beast to “despawn” upon calling (to make it proper) and “respawn” when dismissed. And since the pets don’t hold their names once they’re deslected from use, I really see no point in having a bunch of “juvenile whatever” roaming around.

I think the option to have two trait “trees” to choose from would be fabulous! At this time I am running my Guardian as a DPS/Tanky Healer and it’s quite flustering when I have to sacrifice either when my Guardian isn’t always in the same situation.

When I play with friends, I rush to their aid with the heal weapons I have on my switch when they are taking a lot of damage. When everything is running smoothly I stick with my DPS weapons. But when it comes to Group Events and I’d imagine when I start dungeoning too, I find I’m doing an awful lot of running around trying to keep people up to bring down the enemy.
I haven’t noticed that too many other people like to play support at all, so it’s harder when I’m trying to be geared to do both jobs.

Of course, would be nice if we had a “gear swap” too, to go with it of course. This would certainly help boost those healing spells more than just my heal weapons would.

Maybe these players need to play other characters instead of only playing the one?
For those who do have all 5 character slots filled with level 80 characters, perhaps deleting one or two might be ideal to start a class they haven’t tried?
I know the class options aren’t overly vast and the amount of character slots we get, on a one server only is actually kinda funny… In a bad way, I might add.
It would be nice if they’d give us more character slots or allow us to have multiple servers with different characters on them. Then again the multiple server’s would semi defeat the purpose of the guesting, but what about those who have all 80’s already but their friend just joined the game and is another server? With only 2 guest passes per person it can limit how many time those people can play together..

I think more character slots, more classes, possible more races too… Some new weapon types would be nice. I’d give my left eye and a leg for a Great Axe! These would help improve the game and perhaps make it a little more interesting in some way? It wouldn’t limit to what you can do and make the idea broader.
I do agree that some things should be more rewarding to entice players to partake in such things, my main complaint is the party system personally.
(You can find a link to my suggestion in my signature)

I think that they should bring out a few new things when they up the level up or even before to hold onto the existing players.
I am still very new to this game however, this probably only week 2 for me. And I’ll tell ya right now if this game goes under any time soon after I just paid $50 for this game and spent a whole 24 hours updating it… I will be severely upset and complaining to the company!

Not a place holder in your hands, but a placeholder in your inventory.

Well if this is what you’re wanting, start carrying around a piece of vendor trash with you… That should do the trick.

And since there is a lack of weapon swap on the Ele and the Engineer from what I hear… Wouldn’t it be easier to switch in a different fashion than what you’ve been doing, if perhaps you’re two hander is getting “lost” in a bag of things?
I assume you are opening up your character sheet and selecting to equip from there? I believe if you do this from the bags/boxes… It will replace the item slot you’re taking the new weapon out of with the weapon you currently have equipped…. So there is no need for a “inventory place holder”.

Cause I’m sorry, still seems like you’re basically asking for a swap weapons option, though without the easy access button.

A solution for this would to allow the Ele to weapon swap… And I can’t say that I see that happening any time soon anyway. The idea of making a “place holder” for a two handed weapon to swap out like you’ve saying, just seems silly. Since the two slots there represents your hands, and if you’re putting a “place holder” in one hand, you can’t properly wield that two handed weapon now can you? :P

So from what I understand Guild Wars 2 encourages players to group up and play together. The Group Events and Dungeons are nice, but what about those of us who want to play with our friends in the normal PvE world?

From what I can tell the only benefits to partying together with friends or anyone else for that matter is that we’re able to track each other and a handy party chat, but nothing else.

What would be nice is if things done together would be shared. If we’re working on the same heart/quest why not make the progress shared among party members? A shared exp would be nice too, split it between the party, give a full EXP to those who hit it and a portion of the EXP from a hitter to those who are in the area, not sharing EXP with someone who’s outta sight completely mind you… Something to make partying more worth while.

The group events are great for teamwork, but it doesn’t allow time to talk during and no one ever sticks around or parties up afterwards anyway.

On another note, as far as the parties go… That would be nice addition too, though I think there is a feature in the online list that you can go “looking for groups”. I could be wrong, I haven’t spent too much time exploring the online list of the game to be honest but I could’ve sworn I saw one there… Though if I did, it was always an empty list and I’m not sure how it works as obviously, I haven’t explored it much.

What I would LOVE to happen however is the way the parties work and effect the players to be a little revamped/changed. From what I can tell so far there is no real benefit to being a party in the PvE world. Of course you get bright blue markers that tell you where your party mates are and a nifty/handy chat channel just for you party but that’s about it. :\
I do like that every player, partied or not get their own loot based on individual randoms, so no two players who kill the same thing get the same loot. It would be nice if the quests/hearts progress was shared, or even an exp spread/share.

For example, say I was off killing this ghost over here and I deal far too much damage too quickly for my party mate who is a few feet away to rush over and at-least hit it once. Instead of my party mate not benefiting at all from my kill, they’d get progress to their quest/heart too and even better some shared exp. The shared exp doesn’t have to be just as much as I received because they didn’t hit the mob but even a little would be nice. Now I’m not saying that my party member not anywhere in my sight should get any exp for my kill, that would just be unfair and a good way to cheat the system..

Actually if you’ve leveled enough to earn your skill points and get better gear and new traits it does help despite you being leveled down.

Think of it this way. A level 3 character does the level 3 character story line with what he has for level 3 alone. More than likely no skill points, so no difference in skills. No traits because he hasn’t reached level 11 yet to start applying them.
Now if a level 11 or 12 were to go do that level 3 character story he’s got a trait point or two that will boost whatever that trait does. He’s earned a few skill points too, so I’d imagine he’d have a skill or two by now that would give him boosts in some fashion.

Lets look at this a little more indepth shall we?
That level 11/12 guardian will have a trait point into his power, since he is training to be a damage dealer. While you’re stats are diminished because you are being reduced to a level 3 from your 11, you will still have a higher damage output because of that trait. What appears to get scaled down is the base stats of your character, not what your traits and skills apply directly.
I am not sure however, if the stats of the weapons/armor work this way as well. (Providing a boost compared to a lower level weapon or not.) But I would assume so…

I can say this in confidence because I have noticed when playing my ranger that my health would go up upon traiting even in a lower level zone than my actual level. So I figure, even though we’re being scaled down for whatever is appropriate for the area/story we still have an advantage over someone who would be doing it at that level.

I don’t believe that depending on where you buy the game, it requires you to play on that type of server. When I created my first character it gave me an option of any server I wished to play on, EU and US.

Solo Class Advise

What’s wrong with a “pet class”? XD
I can’t stand to play anything ranged, but I love pet classes myself so I was extremely excited I could melee the ranger here…
Anyway, Guardian is what I’m playing solo at the moment and it’s a great class still and very useful all around. Warrior isn’t too bad either, but must less versatility when it comes to parties I think. I’m not really sure since I haven’t played it too terribly much and never with an actual group yet. Elementalist isn’t bad either but it’s slow as you can’t really dive in head first as you can with the Guardian or Warrior class.
Outside of those I haven’t tried any others as I’m still fairly new myself…

I have to disagree Garambola, when I received GW2 as a gift it came in a box from the store. Just as every other game I’ve purchased so far and it come on CD/DVD’s that I could install from.
However my install didn’t take forever it was the downloading and updating of patches that took me forever. Sadly it was all day event, and it sucked up all my bandwidth rendering my computer virtually useless for anything else net related.
