As Colin said, a new game mode is something the team is working towards. However, it’s not ready at this time.

Yet they’re still talking like they were back then!!! “Yeah we’re working on it.” “Its gonna be amazing. Just wait!!” “Its coming I swear” “Its not ready at this time, soon tho! soon…” Maybe a new Game Mode next year boiz!

After spending more than 1 year developing that perfect map/game mode, you guys better make sure that its the best kittening game mode ever as honestly, that would be the only thing that would give this perfectionist approach from the Anet developers any credibility, rather than obvious slacking

We dont dispute that we deserve a spot higher than 4th? Now you are just making things up to make you guys look better ^^

Fact is, when we found out that we were not being seeded as 4th we contacted mistpedia directly to change the brackets to how they should be, rather than “favoring” us so that we wouldnt meet TCG till the finals. Mistpedias only responce to denying this obviously correct choice to put the brackets how they should be was, “Yeah but one CM member is only saying this because of personal vendetta with mistpedia”. After this they continued to ignore the situation.

It looks they have still ignored it, as in Sirephs wall of text there was no mention to actually change the seeding so that CM would be seeded 4th (Like we should be). We believe that not putting us as a 4th place seed is only favoring TCG, it doesn’t matter if you drop the tag Team Mists if you still continue to favor them.

The fact that you have said that future tournaments organised by mistpedia will be doing it right kinda suggests your thoughts in ToL 2 are – “Oh well, we messed this up already lets not fix it though bcs we only have 3 days to change brackets and thats simply not enough time!!”

Also I saw a few comments blaming Anet/Gw2 for this screw up so I thought I should address it. Anet had little/nothing to do with these brackets and tournament so there is no use chucking blame at GW2 only mistpedia.

Never has there been a bigger indication that the competitive community is dead. These matches are like watching hotjoins.

What’s sad is the shoutcasting is good for once. But it’s so wasted.

Maybe you missed the part where this was the QUALIFIERS ??? If you want to see Gw2 teams at the best, wait for the Championship brackets, stop moaning about new teams in the qualifier rounds coming to the scene. I agree with you on the shout-casting though.

Was about to make a forum post thanking you guys for the awesome shout-casting. All the overlays looked really polished and actually added a semi-professional feel to Gw2 for me

The ONLY criticisms I had were:
1) The analysis of the combat – You guys still need to increase your understanding of the “Higher” level plays in Gw2 more so you can inform the viewers better of what is going on in the actual fights (Its not like the other casters do this much better anyway). I would be happy to help you guys with this also.

2) The Transitions between fights – I feel like you didn’t need this transition after swapping to players in the same fight as it just didn’t feel necessary, however I really liked the way you used the Transitions to swap to fights happening on different areas of the map, this actually looked awesome.

But to be honest, for your first shout-cast I was really impressed with the camera angles, entertaining shout-casting and polished overlays.

GJ DPS, you have given me a little more hope for SPVP. I’d like to see you guys on the EU scene also!

No more details than that, though!

Surely if it’s some really interesting features you would release the information right? So people that have quit or on the verge of quitting know stuff like “Oh PvP rewards will be coming in X amount of days, I’ll stick around for that!” or “Wow I cant wait to play 2v2 Arena in X amount of days I’ll start looking for somebody to 2v2 with!”

We as a community are completely in the dark (And that is not a good thing), it would be nice to know at least something about a future feature patch that isn’t fake promises like SoTG coming back.

PS: Evan what happened to our New Maps talked about 7 months ago?

then give thieves Aegis, Stability, 25k HP pool, Heavy Armor, Block, Invulnerability, Immunity to conditions, then we can agree that thief is more OP than War\Guardian

So you have combined what warrior and guardian both have DIFFERENTLY and said that s/d thief is weaker because it doesn’t have what 2 other completely different play style classes have? Nice logic.

Also:
Since when does zerker Guardian have 25k hp and immunity to conditions??
Since when do warriors have Aegis?

Your basic argument is s/d thief doesn’t have everything so it can’t be OP! Good luck with that!

OK, I’m going to stop you right there.

How about how warriors and guardians can both set up a tank spec in traits, then use fire + air/intelligence sigils, strength runes and zerker ammy and still live through tons of damage (unlike the thief) and still put out good damage?

How about, No?

Warriors and Guardians are meant to be tanky melee classes, that is how they are designed. However a zerker amulet Guardian surviving through “tons of damage” ? Even a zerker amulet warrior without cooldowns dies extremely fast to both direct damage and condition damage.

Warriors and Guardians have 0 access to stealth and 0 access to defensive shadowsteps. But I guess you think that doesn’t make thief hard to kill right? I guess you think immobilize having next to 0 effect vs s/d thief because of withdraw and flanking strike dodge while immobed doesn’t make s/d thief “Hard to catch” right? (Pardon the pun)

Give Warrior and Guardian stealth and blinks and I will agree with your post, until then stop trying to defend the only spec in the game with no counter.

Though I completely agree that Sizer’s S/D thief build is a cancer to PvP, I don’t believe the weapon set is the problem.

The problems with Sizer’s 20066 S/D thief build:

My main problem with this S/D build is the damage it can put out when it has 0 points in critical strikes. This is ALL due to “Sigil of Air” and “Sigil of Fire” as well as a 20s cooldown on “Steal” allowing the thief to never run out of initiative (Stealing Grants 2 initiative). The build is obviously meant to be a bunker thief so i have no problem with its sustain.

My ideal fix for the situation:
1) Don’t let “Sigil of Air” and “Sigil of Fire” stack or increase the proc cooldown to 8 seconds for both Sigils. Currently these two Sigils ruin nearly every Zerker vs Zerker fight with RNG and carry builds with little damage and high sustain, to suddenly have high damage and high sustain.
2) Increase the cooldown of “Steal” from 20s to 30s ATLEAST. There will be problems with this, I will address them below. or add some counter play so “Steal” can be dodged.
3) Huge damage reduction in “Flanking strike”, as this is an evade not a offensive skill. I suggest a base damage of around 200 rather than the 500 as it is currently. “Larcenous strike” already deals enough damage, it doesn’t need the extra damage of “Flanking strike”. “Larcenous strike” also has telegraphed animations so can be dodged.

Problems with increasing “Steal” cooldown:
This will hurt every thief build a lot more than S/D so the other thief builds must be given some sustain changes in order to keep them viable as D/P and S/P thieves need the steal to help with sustaining themselves, however these sustain changes must not be able to be used by S/D thieves as they already have enough sustain.

FYI: Any S/D thief that considers these changes to be too harsh, Sizer actually gave me most of the input on them. The main one being the Steal cooldown increase.

In the screenshot below the Mesmer ( Misha ) not speced into any Phantasm damage traits has hit me ( Bunker Clerics Guardian ) with 2k toughness for 6.7k in 1 strike. After speaking with Misha, he has also suggested to me that something maybe broken with Warlock this patch as before he has never hit anyone that high, let alone a bunker Guardian.

After some testing I have noticed that the Warlock seems to be dealing the same damage to every type or Armour suggesting that the Warlock is hitting through toughness?

Can anyone shed any light on this? Any other unreal Warlock crits??

If so this needs to be fixed before the legends Tournament. Please investigate Anet.

Tbh to avoid any problems of teams not getting a spot in a tournament if they deserve it in the future, would be easily solved by just having qualifying tournaments or some other qualifying system in order to even sign for the tournament??

By doing this, not only do you get a lot of teams signing for the event but also more teams would play TeamQ as they would need to practice in order to qualify.

For this tournament I think that Seeding is a complete MUST, nobody wants to see a veteran team 500-0 a WvW guild in the finals of the Legends of the Mists tournament.

Hey guys.

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided not to add Runes of Perplexity to PvP in the 4/15 Feature Pack. We’ll be monitoring the balance of runes closely, making more tweaks if necessary, and revisiting the possibility of adding Runes of Perplexity to PvP at a later point.

Thanks again for comporting yourselves in such a cooperative and constructive manner – you guys had some great points and counterpoints regarding this issue.

This is awesome news, I’m so happy that the dev’s listened to the community on this one it only took 360+ replies and 11k views to make you see sense!

Really looking forward to April 15th now and i’m sure a lot of others will be too

I probably shouldn’t be reading the forums at 10:45 on a Friday night….but I am.

1) Thanks for talking about this in such a constructive manner. A lot of you guys are bringing up great points with highly cogent logic. I like. I like how you’re bringing up possible issues in multiple game types as well, kudos for espousing a holistic point of view.

2) There are going to be a lot of changes, as we’ve stated before on the 15th. The meta will probably shift a lot for many areas of the game, so we’ll have to see how things shake out.

3) Please keep the talking open, rational, and with as little salt as possible – you guys are rocking. We are listening, and I’ll check this thread next week to see how the conversation goes.

First of all just agreeing with what Jon has said here, this thread has turned out perfectly so thx for everyone who has been so helpful in an effort to make sure this doesn’t reach PvP.

Secondly Jon, although I respect Anet have made ALOT of changes to runes an sigils just looking back at this thread I created 17 hours ago having 160+ comments which 99% of them all agree that we as SPvP players do NOT want this rune in PvP, surely that must be a wake up call to you expressing how much we don’t want this?

Thirdly, I have been reading what a lot of players have been writing in this thread and there have been so much better suggestions that what I suggested in order to make the runes more suited for spvp.

Just one that I wanted to Highlight:

Make the Rune of Perplexity a Rune that is useful for classes that actually can apply confusion without perplexity. The new Perplexity 6th set bonus should be something that makes confusion damage stronger. For example, increase the amount of damage confusion does while runes of perplexity are in use. Don’t make perplexity so strong that it can make builds that have 0 access to confusion suddenly have a huge new damage source because of one rune set. Otherwise you just have another lyssa 2.0 situation where everybody will use it.

Teams that have commented on this thread all agreeing they don’t want Perplexity in SPvP:

As it still stacks with warrior interrupt it is still completely broken, I understand that you have nerfed the rune, but in order to make the rune ok for use in PvP, it CANT apply more than 3 stacks of confusion and it MUST NOT stack with mace interrupt trait on warrior.

3 Stacks of confusion along with the proc is still 6 stacks which is still a lot of confusion damage, why should it be 8??

If this goes live it will insanely broken. The builds that open up from this is great! but the side effects will just be too much. Clearly from the amount of people asking not to have this in PvP you can see the community’s view on this topic

PS: Honestly I don’t think you have tested mace interrupt build on warrior with that rune, if you have you would never let it live.

Perplexity Rune nerfed to applying 3 stacks of confusion on interrupt could be manageable but would still be insanely strong with condition warrior, it must also not stack with the warrior interrupt confusion trait or it is still a HUGE problem.

Keep in mind,

Condition Mesmer with Torment on shatter + Perplexity

Condition Warrior with Mace and confusion on interrupt + Perplexity (9 stacks in 1 interrupt)

Condition Necro with Fear now being an interrupt

These are my main concerns however i’m sure people can list countless others.

Although I can see this would help bring more builds to PvP, 90% of these builds are some of the most overpowered in game.

Perplexity is still completely overpowered PLEASE do not put this into PvP. It has already killed a lot of peoples’ WvW experience don’t make it kill their PvP experience as well…

With no New game modes coming in January 2014 no rewards coming in December / February and No balance patch coming in March [CM] have decided enough is enough.

Anets lack of updates in pvp means that it is no longer possible to motivate a team to play with no rewards, goals and no new content to look forward to. [CM] is not the first team to stop playing Gw2 due to lack of updates in Spvp and I wonder how long will it be before the rest of the ‘higher’ tier teams will follow?

Anet have created an extremely great game with so much potential but all of it recently is ruined by keeping secrets. Why can’t you just tell us what we are getting and when so that we all aren’t just wasting our time on hoping and not receiving?

Immobilize Duration / Stacking Problem

I want to start by saying that Immobilize is an extremely powerful condition vs some classes (Guardian, Warrior, Engineer, Elementalist and sometimes Mesmer) and some classes can almost ignore the immobilize as it is extremely easy to escape from or can just permanently evade while immobilized (Thief, Ranger).

Stacking something that keeps one target in place mindlessly for about 10 seconds is completely faceroll and for some classes cannot be countered. In most games “Roots” or “Immobilizes” are hard to land skills that only have a 2-5s duration that can be extremely useful if used correctly. In Guild Wars 2 however, 1 Engineer and 1 warrior can immobilize you for around 10s while applying 3-4 other conditions at the same time in the space of lets say 1 1/4 seconds .

In a 1v1 immobilize is not a problem in my opinion however, when 2-3 people focus 1 player down with immobilizes it is nearly impossible to survive if you play any of the classes in the first bracket mentioned.

My suggestions to fixing the problem is simple.

1) Make it so immobilize is not stack able. (Preferred)

2) Make it so when stacked with the 1st immobilize the 2nd immobilize is half duration. Same with the 3rd,4th etc.

3) Reduce immobilize durations of the following skills (Not Preferred but would also help solve this issue)

Warrior: Pindown, Bolas
Engineer: Net turret ( Can be ignored as this is nerfed soon )
Thief: Trait – Panic strike
Ranger: Pet: Spider Venom + Entangling web
(Let me know if I have missed any very long immobilizes aside from entangle which is fair for an elite skill)

Constructive feedback pls in hope that I can get an answer from the developers with their opinions and solutions to this problem.

I really disagree with this. Although these Halloween trick or treat bags are completely useless to me, finally there is something that i can sell in PvP giving me a in game money from just doing what i would normally do for fun!

I’m not saying these trick or treat bags should stick or anything but it would be nice to gain 25-40 silvers per Team Arena game without having to just sell the bags to get that money anyway ^^

Proper PvP Rewards = Skins, tittles and money, nothing else! its not difficult :P

100% agree, UF (Unsuspecting Foe) is the main thing that makes soldier amulet warrior deadly. Removal of this trait would mean that warriors are forced to go Berserkers amulet to get the crits they would get passively from that trait. This would make warriors weaker vs power classes but still very viable against conditions. Then finally warrior has counter!!

How to Fix:
Seeing as the Grandmaster trait – Furious (Granting 1 extra adrenaline on Critical Hits) isn’t so amazing that it is worthy of a Grandmaster trait slot, it would make make sense that a trait as powerful as UF should be swapped with this in order to allow the option of this trait still in the game but forcing warrior to choose other trait trees other than just 30 in defense line.

I speak for [CM]Cheese mode EU, (All reasons here are purely to increase the high tier competitive play in SPvP).

1) Rewards / Leaderboards – Without incentives there is no reason to even log in and play Spvp competitively. Fix the broken Leaderboard so being rank 1 actually means something (Possible rewards for leaderboard ranks?)

2) Balance – S/d thieves need nerf (Mainly EU) / >> Elementalist needs a major buff. <<<

3) Game modes and maps – Doesn’t really matter in the competitive scene but is fun for randoms to enjoy in hot join.

1) The character you apply with MUST be your main and you MUST be able to play it at a high skill cap level.
2) You must have a deep knowledge of other classes in the game.
3) Although we are playing casual at the moment, you must in future be ready to compete competitively against high tier teams in the upcoming tournaments.
4) You must also be able to deal with high pressure situations while keeping calm and communicating well. (Obviously this can be worked on while playing with us).
