Actually, the best way to get Karma is to do WvW PvP. It’s MUCH better than any cursed shore farming.
Actually do have a point that WvW does tend to give a higher rate of karma. However there are 2 problems with this. 1 is that this only is true when you get a good train of people going from place to place capping in WvW. This usually doesn’t happen as most of the time it is just a bunch of small skirmishes. I am a member of SYN, a major guild in Hedge of Denravi, and we can get some serious karma when we get a good path of destruction going but it always grinds to a halt. The other problem with this is that the queue time for WvW is insane right now. The borderlands don’t give any where near as much karma compared to EBG. Another thing to keep in mind that with none of the quests bugged in Cursed Shore one can maintain a steady 8 k Karma per hour WITH karma boosters.
Alright so like many people I do seriously enjoy what Guild Wars 2 has done but with excessive amounts of time already put into the game I would like to point out what I think could be done to significantly improve the experience particularly for late game.
#1-Redo Karma reward scaling- now what I mean by this is right now I am farming for my legendary. I need over 1 million karma and the best way to do this right now is to sit in cursed shore like a mindless drone and semi afk farm events. This absolutely kills me because there is SO MUCH CONTENT that the game doesn’t promote me to go back to since it down scales the reward. Now I believe that if the karma were to be the same for any standard dynamic event while the exp was down scaled this would be MUCH better. I would be willing to go re experience all the zones I only briefly spent time with while leveling. Also this would ensure that leveling players continued to move on to new content since they are mostly concerned about exp rates.
#2-Difficulty vs Reward needs tweaking – as it stands right now the group events vs normal dynamic events reward the exact same exp, karma , and money. This means that if I spend 1 hour fighting a boss with 30 other people we get the same reward that 1 person gets with a 3-5 minute dynamic event. That is just plain wrong. However on top of this I have noticed while some group events may take 5-10 minutes others will take up to an hour some times. There needs to be a difficulty rating for these group events and have the reward of the event scale accordingly. This would drastically improve the incentive to actually go do these events.
#3-Redo material conversion rates for Tier 4 mats and below- As it stands right now one can take 250 of a material and convert it into 10-50 Tier of tier above. While this makes sense for tier 5 to 6, it does not at all for any of the other tiers. I believe that the conversion rate for these tiers should be as high as 80-90 percent as this will promote proper price scaling. Now there should also be a way for Tiers to be downgraded because as it stands it is extremely expensive for players to do crafting 1-75 due to extremely high costs for T1 Material. The same should be done for fine materials.
For the most part these are my biggest issues when it comes to GW2 in its current state on top of many already previously mentioned ones throughout the suggestions. I know the devs are trying to fix some of the immediate issues including broken skill points, events, and the trading post. However if something isn’t done about the late game it will soon have a major reputation of being a mindless grind and honestly I don’t want to see this happen.
note – I think karma pricing for certain items could also use adjusting but many ppl have made a point of this. I am more annoyed about being penalized for wanting to experience lower level content areas.
