RF is hella bugged atm, one of the reasons why I opted for the mantra elite. I could have sworn the Justice reset was bugged atm as well, but if not then it’s DEFINITELY a huge selling point.
As the title explains it, I’ve been fiddling with the new elite spec and I enjoy it a lot. The tomes are a blast to use (I think they’re the key to unlocking the specialization’s potential), and the ax is a really fun weapon to use (although it’s #2 can be hit or miss at times). Mantras… We won’t talk about those (except for maybe the elite, having 3 stunbreakers on deck is REALLY nice).
Since mantras aren’t too hot, I’ve been using a variation of the “standard” Burn Build to pretty good success. You’ll need to full trait into meditations to supplement your damage and healing, but with proper tome usage I’ve been able to devastate people playing on the point. The only thing I can’t decide on atm is whether I should choose Radiance or Virtues for that last specialization.
Under normal circumstances I’d have gone for Virtues: The AoE burn that procs (and more often) from Permeating Wrath is a great way to get stacks going, and the condition cleanse from Absolute Resolution is a pretty good panic option… But now that the true utility of your former virtues are the abilities your tome grants, the old options just don’t make sense anymore. Not to mention that the virtue passives themselves are gutted heavily in favour of the tome’s actives.
That’s why I’m considering Radiance: Increased burn damage from Amplified Wrath is a nice supplement to what we lost from Permeating Wrath into Virtue of Justice’s Tome, and Radiant Fire gives us more consistent AoE burning (or if you have a torch out and ready, an even deadlier single target burn). As an added bonus, Right Hand Strength means that combined with the 20% crit chance due to the Fury you get from Meditations you’ll have decent crit damage to go along with the condition damage (makes Carrion/Sage that much better to use).
So what do you guys think? For Firebrands, will our burn damage be about quantity (Permeating Wrath) or quality (Amplified Wrath)?
Wait, since when were you able to look at other people’s builds?
This is news to me haha.
Menders is good for Hybrid Symbol Guard! nood for pure support.
But that’s the point we’re trying to make, is that a Guardian’s strength lies in doing a lot of jobs decently well at the same time. We’re never the best damage, the best support, the best bunker… But we can do all of them well enough at the same time, making us unbelievably versatile.
Regardless, precision is a useless stat without power because 150% (crit damage)at 50% of the time (crit chance) times 0 damage (power) is still 0.
Menders is
And that build is not from WvW. Those who are old in this game would remeber that was old mete in pvp.

Besides a few minor changes, you’re essentially playing an AH Guardian meant for WvW in sPvP. It’s literally right there on one of the biggest websites on meta builds. I’ve already gone over why this is a bad idea (low survivability, no damage, limited utility and wasted runes/elite).
I was hopping a suggestion that i couldn’t think of my self but till now not see something that suits to me.
And that’s fine.
Before u comment my build have u try it ? Or just talking?
Oh we’ve tried it all right, it’s literally an exact clone of a WvW AH Guardian. While amazing there, it has zero purpose in sPvP. You bring no damage to the table (even if you’re a support you need SOME form of damage) and are relying entirely on shouts (while not bad, the runes can be used for better things).
That’s only if you are a WvW player that doesn’t want to even touch PvE but is fine with playing spvp. Otherwise farming berries in bitterfrost is much easier and faster.
I dunno, as long as you dont lose a lot it can go really quickly. The regular shards themselves can be bought off of the TP for cheap, and all it takes is 150 – 175 Ascended shards. Hardly an ordeal.
Is it worth it for the trinkets though? Seems like a reasonable way to get HOT ascended trinkets, like vipers.
It’s absolutely worth it for trinkets, as the costs are only the Ascended Shards and the Shards themselves. This makes getting full accessories incredibly easy, AND they can be HoT stats as well to boot.
I don’t see why you’re using magi’s, you don’t have any abilities that rely on critting and the rng nature of any damage you may be capable of doing pales to just flat power. But basically with this build, you won’t be doing anything other than moderate supporting.
Also, while a support guardian is nice you still need to be capable of holding your own solo (at least while in solo que). You’re main source of healing is AH, which won’t do anything if you get caught by yourself.
Funny, I think I met the guy you’re talking about. At the start of the game, we lost the skirmish for mid, leading to the guy just standing at spawn and calling us all “Trolls”. We lost the match in the high two hundreds in what ended up being a 4v5 – leading one to question, who was the real troll?
Wouldn’t surprise me, he’s pretty active and has played 180+ games according to my leaderboard.
Worst part is I can’t call him out on the forums, because it’s against the rules and the mods are (thankfully) pretty active here. I’ve already seen a dude show a screencap of his own version of my guy in the act, but the poster is the one that gets his comments deleted. The actual offender? Still going strong.
I guess I’m just bitter, because with no statement from Arenanet and this clearly having done this for multiple seasons in a row it seems like a lost cause. Which is a shame, because this is (was?) my favorite gamemode.
Had a few games where ppl simply “left” just after the match started as never came back. Too common to be d/cs. Been reporting every single one but yeah….
Feels like the whole “report” option just goes to some “spam” folder.
That’s definitely the feeling I’m getting as well.
I feel like idlers/afkers are getting out of hand this season. I realize that it’s going to happen, and that it’s inevitable. However, when I meet the same people who ruin the rest of our time over and over it starts to get infuriating.
I have this one player who, no joke, been placed in the same team over 10 teams since the start of the new season. Everytime, when the first fight mid fails he just says “afk noobs” and sits in spawn spouting insults in either broken English or in Spanish. We’ve all reported him, and yet he still continues to ruin our night. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve had to add him on my friend’s list so I can que dodge him. It doesn’t work sometimes, as I got him AGAIN tonight and he did the same thing.
The kicker? This kid got the title for top 250 pvpers from last season. It’s mind boggling.
I understand people will spam the report on those they dont like, which makes it difficult. But from what I’ve seen the system isn’t automated, so what’s taking so long? Or is this truly what the state of sPvP has become?
No wonder a lot of the good players just won’t participate this season.
I personally run 0/5/30/30/5, with main focus on AH and Empowering Might/Pure of Voice. I use a mix of Soldier’s and Knight’s gear with (mostly) Ruby Gems, and with it I hit 3K Armour, 40% Crit, 70% Crit Damage, and 17000 HP.
For abilities I run Stand Your Ground, Save Yourself, and whatever I feel like rocking that day (tons of conditions? CoP. Some roamer group of friends? Hold the Line).
It’s a pretty tanky set while doing good damage, and all my shouts/buffs do double duty of Buffing/Cleansing my team while I get a steady flow of heals coming in. Of course, this build tends to have difficulties when Im soloing things in WvW, but any buff applied to yourself still triggers AH so the core mechanics still work. My friends love having me around, and I like feeling like I made an impact.
As for weapons, that’s preference. I usually rock Hammer/Staff but lately I’ve been using Hammer/Greatsword for roaming with friends.
“I Know Dat Feel Bro” here, leaving my two cents.
I swear this mess up has become the funniest event I’ve ever participated in.
Everyone running up with fireworks in hand only to face 10 karka veterans that respawned? Instawipe.
I haven’t laughed so hard in an MMO till now!
