I found a post somewhere that helped me get a bit more mobility – you may have seen it but if not, it’s editing the config file and upping the video and vertex values to match your card. I’m currently running on an ‘08 macbook pro (dekstop died – pulled it out from under stuff in the closet) has 512m vid ram. The post I found suggested matching the vid ram which in config file is set to 256, and the vertex value at 128. Basically, match your card’s ram and half of the card’s ram on the vertex line. That didn’t do much for my ancient laptop, but I found matching the ram part to 512, and leaving the vertex at 128 worked pretty well. The vertex apparently is for shaders and apperance, which I care less about on this ancient thing. If you don’t know how to get to the config file, open Applications, right click gw2 app, and select “show package contents”, under there one of the directories will have the config file. edit that

I’m running mac client, seems ok but a bit slow. Not because of the client, but because my desktop died and forced me onto an ‘08 macbook pro with 512m vid ram.
One thing I did try was edit the config, which had vid mem set to 256 and vertex 128.
I made the vid ram 512 and vertex 256, but it didn’t seem to get the boost folks were experiencing on newer models… So I changed it to have 512 mem, and left the vertex at 128, I never cared as much about appearance as mobility, and that helped. Now all I have to do is re-learn the game, it’s been a few years LOL
