I like that we finally get a support spec, love the new portaling, torch skills, barriers. but why the Vomit Yellow skill effects?
I know it’s silly but I just kinda wished they stuck with the dark greening black like all the other skills. I know it’s a desert themed expansion but It just doesn’t feel right to me personally.
I know, It’s a personal gripe but I just wanted to post that feedback.
Got a hold of a few BLB’s and answered my own question.
You can stack an EXP, Celebration, AND BLB at the same time. Meaning you can have 3 exp boosts at once not including utility and food.
So I know they took away Tomes Of Knowledge and replaced them with the BLB (Black Lion Booster) in the Black Lion Chests.
My question is how (if at all) does it stack with other boosters?
Can I used it alongside a celebration booster? Birthday booster? EXP booster? Heroic Booster?
Can I use an EXP, Celebration and BLB at the same time?
I’ve tried googling and looking on the wiki and I can’ seem to find any info regarding this topic. Thanks in advance for the help
I publicised it to to get better feedback like yours rather than just my own echo so to speak. The timed kill events do raise concern though, valid point. honestly I expected way more back lash so i appreciate your respect
Also this is not my first necro, my main is half way to vipers, I was thinking of another character entirely or just have it in my bank for funzies. I wouldn’t just flat out change it. And I probably would not go for full ascended ether since exotics can do just fine in PVE with most builds.
What I think? I think it’s kinda dumb to waste both time and money for a result that is bound to be disappointing. (Especially in PvE)
- The minions don’t do damages worth relying on them only thus you lose survivability due to the fact that it take you longer to kill something.
- All the healing you’ll get from this won’t help you more than not having any extra healing (again you’ll basically be a punching ball that continously need to heal himself again and again because mobs don’t die around you)
- Minions are already super tanky in open PvE but fret not because with all the toughness you’ll have mobs will only focus on you.My thoughts : don’t waste you time with 0 offensive stats gear on the necromancer, this kind of gear will just make you struggle longer for the same result. I don’t even get the point for using healing stat in open PvE. Take a soldier gear which is basically free in the game and you’ll have the exact same survivability and you’ll kill things faster.
I appreciate your response, you brought up some cons that I didn’t really consider. But I kinda have to disagree as far as minion damage goes, though I do not doubt i could have more damage in any other build I still find that even though they don’t kill AS fast, they still kill effectively enough that I feel I can AT LEAST deal without power. between rise and other minion summons. I can summon more enough of them to deal a pretty decent chunk of damage, maybe not as fast but i feel the defence and healing can make up for it.
I do agree though that since toughness brings in more aggro from mobs it may ruin the point of the minions being the tank for you, but on the other hand they will live longer to deal more damage for you while you soak up the damage and keep healing back up. I can understand not building this way for competitive modes but I still feel it can do okay in an PVE AI environment
So to start I would not raid with this but I think I got a cool concept for PvE.
Basicly you would be a Minion Master, very tanky and hard to kill.
Minions gain there power from leveling. so the way I see it you could kinda leave out power since your letting your minions do most of the work.
The healing power can be useful for some life siphon skills, minion on hit heals, wells if you spec for it, Dagger 2 skill, shroud skills that are heal spec’d. condi heal traits
Between toughness, vitality and Rise minions you would be super tanky while building a massive army to do all the damage you need for you.
You can still get some condi damage from Traits that give you condi based on toughness.
So what do you guys think? Obviously I wouldn’t raid with this. But it sounds like it could actually kinda work on Minion Master play style. You would be still locked into Minions only if you want to do damage, but you can also still play supportive too if you want.
Thoughts?
I would kill for the return of Rox’s Quiver
Honestly more quiver skins in general would be lovely.
Is it dyeable? I got a few characters it might look good on but I’m not sure about the default color.
Congratulations! I still have a few left. :P
The Halloween labyrinth really helps. I was 33 on my ranger yesterday, hit 80 today.
I still gotta work on gearing them.
the gamer in me is proud, while the IRL me is wondering what I’m doing with my life.
:’D
No one outside of Anet knows for sure.
They’re the only people who have access to the data and with a few very rare exceptions (mainly from the first year) they don’t announce it. They may report it to NCSoft (their parent company) but since it’s not directly related to their finances it’s unlikely.
And it’s pretty impossible to estimate it from how many players you see in-game because there’s no way to tell how many copies of each map there are or how busy they all are. If you’re in a map and see hardly anyone else around it could be because there’s hardly anyone else playing in that area or it could be because they’re all in a different copy.
As much as I love this game…the way I see it, if they don’t publicly announce the number, they must not be too proud of it. Only leaving me to assume it’s a low number compared to other MMO games. Of course its only assumption
I completely agree. If the population were large, they would be announcing it all over the place.
But even WoW stopped announcing subscriber numbers. In fact, very very few MMOs announce their online populations. So trying to draw a conclusion from that is pointless.
I disagree, the thing is WoW’s numbers were dropping expansion after expansion. in fact it was only after they announced there lowest number of subscribers that they stopped publishing there numbers entirely.

This is Good
The HoTs areas aren’t really my favorite but I really liked Bloodstone Fen and the Ember Isles with repeatable Hearts.
And I’ve noticed a lot less Endgame complaints on the forums. It’s not perfect but It’s enjoyable.
I think the only con though is that most of it you gotta pay for, but for the money I feel for the most part it was worth it for the work they put into it. And trust me I’m picky as heck with DLC being worth it and don’t say that lightly about alot of games.
I know opinions may differ but I wanna thank Anet for the effort as I find myself really enjoying the content so far and hope for more to come.
Were talking about a fantasy world of Magic and Dragons, and people are actually debating rather or not it is POSSIBLE to bring back Zhaitan….
Of course there are ways they could bring him back. now rather or not it would be a good idea storywise is debateable.
IMO, I would totally be alright with this. the first fight sucked because Zhaitan was considered weakest of the Elder dragons. I would like to see a comeback of EPIC Proportions where in a plot twist he is Not only the strongest but Rules over the other dragons.
it would be cool if the Bird was Dyeable. So it could work for more outfits, like black for a raven for necros or white to be a dove for guardians
It would be cool if it had some animation to, to make it life like, like maybe fly off the shoulder a little when falling or jumping only to land right back in his spot. even just a little head tilting would be perfect.
The Circus
Literally the most out of place thing in the Ember Isles.
I was thrown off a little by the Skritt being in such a desolate and destructive environment, but accepted them when I learned about them being “whipped into shape” by the Dwarf head and it made more sense that they were there.
But The Circus. like why would there be a Circus out in the middle of a highly destructive volcanic area? This literally made no sense at all to me.
Maybe some clarity for it in the next episode?
Necromancer
it’s a tough choice but between the 2 I would pick necro
though both have high survivability and lots of build varieties, Necro takes alot less effort, especially if you run a Minionmancer Build as minions will do most of the work for you.
And because Necro is mostly ranged with minions it would be similar to your ranger and you would feel more at home.
the key to a good necro for raids, fractals and other stuff, is being able to go back and forth between your normal and shroud form. when you are low on HP, go into shroud and heal up using On hit heals from passive skills and runes. then go back to normal with most of your HP and live long enough for shroud to cool down so you can go back into it when your close to death again. theres even a build where you will auto activate shroud at a certain HP threshold wich can help alot.
The thing with guardian is he doesn’t have a back up plan like Necro shroud. He has a lot of ways to keep his health up and resist damage especially for his teamates, but once he is low, it’s run or be downed.
I just wish you were still able to get the potions
My holy Guardian swag will never be
“A wild Quagan appeared”
“Go Largos”
“Wild Quagan is intimidated, it reduces the attack stat by half”
“Wild Quagan used Cooooo”
“Largos was unafected”
“Largos used Relentless Steps”
“It’s Super Effective”
“Wild Quagan fainted”
Not a bad idea. It would add more immersion when you first start the game.
I can relate to you. I found it difficult too at first when I returned after a while. Here are a few tricks that helped me rack in some gold
1. get a TP calculater app on the app store. they’re like any other calculator except that they automaticly factor in the sells tax for you. it makes flipping items easier.
2. if your not into flipping, I would recommend mob farming and Node hunting. The best mobs to farm are Dredge, Human separatists, Grawl, pirates. Pretty much anything that drops Bags of crafting materials. The bag themselves sell for about 2-3 silver each and its pretty easy to stack a few hundred in them in an hour depending on your magic find. as far as nodes Platinum sells for about 1 silver each and can be found all over Blood Tide coast and other areas of similer level
3. speaking of magic find, Increasing this pays off in the long run. once you get a decent amount of gold, start buying Globs of Ectoplasm from the TP. then salvage them. they give LOADS of essence of luck that increase your magic find level, they also give lots of crystalline dust that sells for about 80% of what you spent on the Ectos.
4. Karma to gold. this is one of my favorite methods. finding an NPC that sells valuable items for karma that you can then sell on the TP. Google Crab Grabbin’ Gloves method, it involves an extra step of placing items in the mystic forge but it yields some high results. Personally, I prefer finding karma merchants with high value cooking ingredients but to each there own.
5. Salvage everything (well almost), and use the Store all Materials option in your inventory. before you know it you will have hundreds stacked rare materials that can sell for a good lump sum of gold. THE ONLY EXCEPTION is rare yellow items. ALWAYS check the priced on yellows before you salvage them. Some can value for 33-75 silver. My general rule is usually anything below 16 silver is usually better to salvage than to sell.
6. Do dungeons, Fractals, Map metas or boss events while waiting for stuff to sell. some require more effort than others but they are still viable money making methods, especially once Daily’s reset.
I hope this helps. I too found it kinda hard to make money in this game and there really aren’t many ways since professions are not really for making money like other games. but these methods here I found very helpful and I eventually saved enough to get my awesome Shield skin for my Rev seen below (though the clipping can be bothersome)
well at least for me.
So On my Rev I grinded CoF for a few days to get some of the Flame legion armors because I thought it would look epic with my Ghastly Grinning Shield
I put it on feeling quite awesome and proud for looking like such a kick butt Revenant…..Then I started running and saw that the black smoke effect from the shield would flip back and forth with the fire effect from my Legion armor.
Really ruining the awesomeness of my Rev :’(
I can normally tolerate nearly any other clipping i see in this game but this one annoys me most I guess because of the effort it took to get him to that point.

Fastest as in movement? Thief.
They get a lot of shadow step utility’s, really useful against some unreachable terrain.
Can spam like 4 dagger dashes before having to wait to refill their initiative (skill cost mechanic)
Free swiftness (33% movespeed) buff every time you dodge (if you build the perk)
comboing all that with the 25% move speed signet. they’re the fastest class hands down.

Crazy idea!
Have you tried creating a new character with the same name as the soulbound gear?
would be interesting to learn rather or not this would work, doubtful but nothing to loose.
I wouldn’t give up on flipping. Since I’ve been using the Gw2 trade post calculator on the google app store i have found it easier to find items that I can make profits with using the flipping method, and I encourage anyone interested to use it if you find playing the TP to be difficult. its basicly a calculator that already imputes the sales and listing taxes so you will always know what you can make a profit off of.
as far as non TP ways to make fast cash, the pirate bases on Lonars pass map drop bags of loot pretty often that sell for 7 silver each. there are also the separatist camps in the Ascalon areas, and the Dredge in shiverpeaks. they all drop bags of crafting materials that can sell for 6-8 silver each. of course this may depend on your magic find stat.
there are also ways to trade Karma points for items at karma merchants, that sell for alot on the TP, there are guides all over the web covering this, as well as doing it with laurels if you have any just lying around.
I really like this idea. I despise the current system because it’s discouraging not being able to customize my characters below level 80 because I don’t want to waste charges, and even when you hit 80 your still saving and looking for better gear and stats and it sucks swapping out a transmuted armor piece for something that clashes with everything else I wear because of the better stats.
Help me pick my next character to max out.
What exactly makes it plausible that it will be the DSD next expansion? The HoT indicates Kralkatorrik or maybe Primordus. How would the DSD fit into the current events?
Of course he’s still there and we’ll be going to punsh him eventually. But I don’t think that he’s likely to be next.
Mostly the lack of info, I know its not the strongest argument but it seems so set up for blanks to be filled in.
in the main story you go to the underwater temple of Abaddon with a Largos. Abaddon was worshiped by the Margnites who lived in the unending ocean along with the Largos who had to flee there home land due to an elder dragon. Karka which I believe you encounter in the season 1 story also fled the unending ocean for the same reason. but thats all the info I can find. the dragon doesn’t even have a name.
buts its the lack of information that makes it perfect to create a story for. before the Mordremoth expansion there was a lot of lacked info too, for example, where did the Sylvari come from? it was left empty till the season stories came out.
First off, Forgive me if I’m beating a dead horse. I came across this unknown dragon in the wiki.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deep_sea_dragon
I never heard about it in game but it makes alot of references to southsun cove and alot of stuff related to Living season one. Thing is I wasn’t there to to play through season one since at the time I was deployed in the Navy.
So I was hoping more people could add credibility to this idea.
According to the wiki Quagan and Largos (who are from the Unending Ocean where the dragon lurks) make mentions on water tentacle horrors that the Deep Sea Dragon supposedly create that drove them from their home. Anyone remember a dept they owe from the Zhaitan story to a certain Largos?
But what catches me most is the lack of info unlike the other dragons. From a developing standpoint it would be easier to make a story line for a dragon that isn’t that locked in to the lore than a dragon who already has a back story.
Thoughts?
I’m afraid of more Hero Point Grind features. The Elite’s are nice but the HP grind to get it IMO was annoying and an experience I do not want repeated in the next expansion. Even after you get used to getting them with each character, it just becomes annoyingly repetitive.
My old guild had this same issue once, the way we prevented future incidences was, we made a name roster where we listed the names of all our characters next to our MAIN characters. We also made it mandatory that they name and show us in-game at least 1 level 80 character and add the name of that character to our roster before they let you use the guild bank. That way we at-least had a fallback. Its not a garentee but it’s defiantly discouraging to would be thief’s.
You can also screen shot agreements between you and someone you allow access to it. They help with support tickets but it mostly depends on who is handling it on the other end.
I don’t know why you would need all that. You’ll have the person’s display name, which is not changeable unlike the character names. If he steals and leaves the guild, the display name will show on the guild roster as the display name (such as Player X.1234) has left the guild and then the date.
It was back when the game first came out. I’m not sure we had access to that info at the time. Ether way I don’t roll with that guild anymore. They had a lot of stupid rules as you can imagine. Hence why I left.
still screenshots and even letter agreements can be useful. It just depends on whos at the other end of the support ticket.

^ this.
It would be epic if this was possible. :> Adds variety.. since it is Fashion Wars 2. `
so il take it it’s not currently possible?
Is there a way to toggle Backpack items over shields? Because honestly if I had to pick one over the other I would rather show my wings off while idle :/
Then go buy some lol.
Unless you don’t have the gold, then save and go buy them :P
They’re good depending on how you play
If your looking for DPS they don’t have as high of burst damage output as a Ranger or Ele but because of the Shroud Mechanic they are alot less squishy. They can remain alive and deal sustained damage through conditions and minions while sustaining there health using Shroud and lifesteal on hit to regain HP and stay alive. Basicly when your health is low you switch to shroud form, deal damage and heal, then when you return from shroud your HP should be back to full, then just rinse and repeat. This is the build I usually play both in pve and PVP. Depends on how I feel.
As far as Tanking, Im sure you have heard the term Juggermancer or Necronaut tossed around hear and there. Necro Tanks arent like Guardians as far as team protection but serve more as a huge annoyance to the opposition. You pretty much absorb conditions from allies to yourself and then reflect them back at the enemy.
I think necros that play more Support are kinda meh…. they use Wells and other AOE CC but I don’t find them as effective in certain areas. But one thing I will give them is that they are great at ally Rezing under fire. Ive seen a few in meta events surrounded by 20+ mobs in HoTs saving entire parties like it was nothing.
Necro Sylvari was my first character I played, first one to 80, and first one to max elite Specialization. No regrets. They’re not the best at everything but I have 8 other characters and None of them can sustain and stay in the fight for as long as my necro. I use Power, Precision, Condition for armor stats. and Rune of the Grove for my runes to enhance my lifesteal effects and protection boons. Fight, shroud, Heal, repeat. Others like to go pure Condition, toughness and vit.
Once you hit endgame and fully learn the Necro you will figure out whats best. Look up Minionmancer, its probably the best starting out for beginners and gives you a kind of easy mode.
Hope this helps.
when I toss fireballs at them as my elementalisist and they roll on the ground burning and screaming as they die. Its just so satisfying.
I think there might be something off about me………..
don’t care, still love they screams >:)
Elementalist for their versatility.
I’ve done everything from Fire DPS to Earth Tank. I know most toons can roll multiple rolls but I feel like the Elementalist does it best, not necessarily the best AT the roll mind you but defiantly the best at filling whats in need.
