Does anyone have the i7-4790k?

The game runs under DX9 and 32 bit IIRC. Limited draw calls and RAM from the program most likely.

4K MONITOR ? disappointed..

I have 2600k @ 4.8ghz and crossfire R9 290X
Even on 1080p, I have low FPS (WVW, WB, Farm….Lion Arch….)

Don’t high jack threads, this is about the OP’s 4k Monitor and not your 1080p issue. if you have performance issues start a new thread.

God forbid we have some performance comparisons.

GW2 is basically CPU reliant (like a lot of MMOs) so your GPU can only do so much. My GTX 970 only hits around 55-57%~ GPU usage most of the time, but the fact that the game is 32 bit from what I remember and DirectX 9 (according to Afterburner,) I just chalk it up to RAM limitations and a semi-dated engine.

My PC is running an Intel i7 4970k quad core CPU, running at stock 4.0 GHz that Turbos to 4.4 (while playing) with 12 GB of RAM (I normally use 8GB but another build didn’t require the 12GB I had purchased for it) and at 1080p I get varying degrees of performance depending on what I’m doing. In good or normal scenarios (even with supersampling and everything else maxed) I can get 60~80+ fps (like in Lion’s Arch). World Bosses on the other hand, or any events with a LOT of people doing all their fancy skills, can bring my framerate down to 12 or even 7 frames at times (even running native resolution scaling and shadows on high.) The biggest performance tweak I can see is lowering the amount of people rendered under Character Model limit when I do world bosses and such.

Also, I have not yet experimented with the Effects LOD option.

TL;DR: MMO engine, CPU reliant, but with probably 32 bit client and DX9 limitations. Lower player rendering settings, maybe particle settings if needed.

Where will Gw2 be 1 year from today

fair enough, assuming you are the casual gamer. ty for your input

If 2,000 hours played so far is “casual”, so be it.

It’s just simply not something I’m going to get torqued about. First it was ESO that was going to kill this game (it didn’t). Then it was Wildstar (it didn’t). Then it was Destiny (it didn’t). Now it’s Star Citizen, EQN… the list is going to go on and on.

The grass ISN’T greener on the other side of the fence. And if THIS game angers you, get ready for a migrane, because at the very best, it’s the exact same (if not a lot worse) everywhere else. The complaints may vary, but the rage is the same or greater.

At some point, players need to start asking themselves, “Is what we want out of a game even possible? If so, what are WE doing that convinces game companies not to give it to us?”

Because here’s the painful truth. Arena.net doesn’t do things because it will anger their player base and kill the game. They do them because it been shown to WORK to put money into a game company’s pockets.

I’m just long past the point of trying to get people to see the truth in the mirror. People don’t care. They’d rather just rage impotently. So be it.

TESO always looked like a bad translation of TES for multiplayer, so that one was bound to not do good especially with Todd Howard not considering it canon so it seems he didn’t want any part of it. EQNext.. from the reveal event, they know that all MMOs nowadays feel the same, so I have hope. x) A lot of MMOs flat out try to copy WoW, but EQ set a sort of mainstream standard for what an MMO is supposed to have, and that cements my thoughts that it will do good. On another note, GW2 gets quite repetitive for me with it’s small amounts of abilities since a few are situational but if it had more, I know it could be way more fun.

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

I still miss town clothes being seperate pieces, which makes me wonder if any ANet employees actually dressed their characters up before and if they had any say to the changes. lol

Dear Devs, how about infinite-transmutation?

The old system of stone currency was way better for 1-79. Having gone from that, to this after a long break, there is now a very slim chance I will ever buy charges and even skins seem less appealing compared to outfits now.

Please add more dual wield animations

Even if just costmetic, it’d be cool to to have a chance for an off-hand animation (double attack for 2 handed weapons, crits for magic weapons?) [edit: crit animation? lol] This has bugged me slightly from the start.

It’s like you’re asking us to offer suggestions about place settings and silverware while there’s a dead skunk in the middle of the dinner table.

What’s the most offensive trait unlock location? I find the trait system revamp in its entirety to be offensive. I don’t think it makes the game better in any way, shape, or form. I think it made the game worse. I think it takes all the fun out of trying different builds, which makes it something we have to get through to get to the ‘fun stuff’. I don’t think any tweaking or adjusting will help.

Please: just put it back the way it was.

It’s an interesting system, but it really should be unlocked account wide or so for the work some of the stuff is.

The skill point costs are quite high.
Edit: Maybe make it so people who have completed/unlocked full trait lines can pay the old prices to unlock the lines on new characters for the old prices? But again, the skill point prices for new players are still too high IMO.

Remove Champion Bags!

I would prefer champion loot bags be tied to the event as well, to not specifically be prioritizing targeting loot dropping champions first, and prioritizing the event second.
I suppose there should also be a bonus to helping kill tough mobs in events, not just champions though.

Hybridization

What bugs me more than a lack of weapon skill varieties/options is the fact that some classes can equip weapons as off hand but cannot use them as main hand. That and dual wield attack chains only using one hand for attack animations.

FPS Issue with the 9/9 patch [merged]

I recently had to downgrade GPU to a spare Radeon HD 5850 until I can get my replacement and I can’t run this game stable (big events crash now with GPU, WvW and World events, usually dragons) after switching cards and reinstalling drivers. This is on an Intel i7 4790k with 12GB of RAM. I might need to bump settings waaaaaaay lower than High and medium but I played to 80 back at launch with from what I remember was an ATi Radeon HD4870, 4GB of RAM, and an AMD Phenom X4 955 BE processor on High and that felt more stable than right now (minus the framerate) ._.

Edit: For more info, I have played this game on a Radeon HD6950 (dead fan) and a Radeon R290 (returned to upgrade to an nVidia GTX970) as well, which can probably power through bad optimizations.

Orr Karma Gear

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Fries.9234

Fries.9234

I feel like karma stuff should be account bound AND soulbound on use, in case you accidentally bought something and wish to sell it back before soulbinding to character or just stash it in the bank for later use. Also useful would be a sellback feature for items you purchased on the current transaction as long as the same merchant window is open.

To play the devil’s advocate on the topic, you also have to remember that many karma items can be forged. Therefore, to restrict the items to your class would mean your class could only forge items related to your class.

The new Guild Wars 2 "Global Edition"

The recent changes are definitely a bummer. I booted the game up after a long absence, started leveling alts and the lack of trait points really makes things dull.

Also not liking the fact that you have to spend what before was 3 transmutation charges while leveling to 80 for 1 piece.. yeah I’m not gonna spend that on gear you’ll quickly replace, they’re basically all level 80 crystals now.
