GW2 is NOT WoW!

Stop trying to make it like Arenas! This isn’t about gear builds for pvp, its a whole other aspect! The main reason WoW arenas fell out of eSports was because of the horrible design with PvE and PvP overlapping.

If it overlapped even PvE would be kitten. There would be no interesting flavor in PvE because it could possibly imbalance PvP.

If you are wanting a gear progression reward go play PvE or move on to another game. PvP is about players coming on equal ground and testing their SKILL in the battlefield! NOT THEIR GEAR!

Were you playing with Powerr? We won our first match-up in the 2v2 tournament last weekend with him playing D/D ele. He’s a great player.

As for elementalists, we’re not scared to talk about them, we just haven’t talked about any profession really (in regards to the next update). There are a bunch of changes coming down the pike for the entire game in general. I mentioned on the ele forums before the holidays that we think the main problem with elementalist is sustain – and that’s what we’re focusing on addressing. I mentioned on the ESL livestream today that our first step towards rectifying this is making Signet of Restoration function the same in PvP as it does in PvE.

Im super glad to hear that! One of my favorite things to play is heavy bunker ele in sPvP and WvW holding mid node is a blast, but as an ele I have kinda fell out of the meta pretty hard and forced to use my guardian.

I’ve tried using my ele for a high burst or hybrid roamer but as you said the sustain is just really lacking atm along with them having horrible health or toughness unless going soldiers.

Keep streaming, I didn’t get a chance to check it out last night, but we need to support our GW2 streamers. We don’t have many atm.

Alright, as the title says I am looking for a guild to join up with. I played on Crystal Desert, but I am looking for a guild on any server. If I find one that I feel comforable with, I will eventually transfer over for guild WvW. Before I list everything that I am looking for in a guild, let me give you a little background on myself.

About Me
I am a 24 year old guy that has been gaming since he was 5 years old playing Ultima on MS-DOS and getting entrenched in Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans.

I started my MMO experience in EQ2 and quickly moved on into open beta of WoW. I played WoW very competitively pushing for US firsts up through the very beginning of Cataclysm.

After that, I burned out on the whole “WoW” style of MMO. When GW2 was released I got immersed in the lands of Tyria and beyond, though due to life circumstances I stopped playing for about a year.

And now here we are today. I have just started playing again about a month ago. I salvaged my 3 old characters and made my new Guardian and Elementalist for a fresh start.

In the past I have led and been an officer in many guilds. I have no problem helping the guild out with whatever the need is. When I find a guild and commit I am there to see it grow into its full potential.

Now onto my needs in a guild…

• Must use VOIP AND hang out in it. I am a mumble junkie myself and I love to just hang out while running world completion or doing dailies. Most guilds I have found recently only get on for WvW and you never hear from them till next time.

• I prefer a smaller sized guild. I understand that “zerg” guilds have an advantage, but I am looking for a guild “home,” not just benefits.

• Willing to teach. Now this is harder for me because of my pride, but I have no idea where to start in WvW as I have never had the time to get into it, BUT I want to learn, and I learn quickly.

• Must play both PvE and PvP. I will get burned out on one if that is all anyone does.

• Must be thick skinned. Now saying this, as for me, I don’t use any type of vulgar language nor do I bring up vulgar topics, but I know many people that do, and I have many friends that do, and nothing irritates me more than somebody throwing a fit because it isn’t “family friendly” conversation.

• Must play late in the evenings. I play during the day a bit, but my main focus on gaming is around 8:00pm till 2:00am CST.

Anyhow, hit me up or post here if you have a guild that I may be looking for, or even know of one. I can’t really enjoy an MMO until I find a group of people to play with.

Zerker = high risk and high reward (timewise)
Defensive stuff = low risk and low reward (timewise)

Working as intended.

The problem with it is that Zerker doesn’t really offer high risk atm in GW2. Everything is able to be dodged, blocked, or reflected. If they actually had instances where you couldn’t avoid taking at least a few auto attacks I would agree.

The solution to this has already been discussed in many topics. ArenaNet needs to have mobs attack more frequently rather than in huge chunks. The reason we run berserkers gear is because there is NO need for survivability if we can dodge 99% of the abilities and attacks. Anything we cant dodge we can blind, reflect, or block. For us to stack toughness and vitality atm would just be kind of pointless in PvE to be honest.

I’m sorry, but I am going to have to side with the “elitists” on this one.

Firstly I love playing odd builds that I created that are sub optimal. I think it is one of the things in this game that makes it shine. You can make almost any build, and have it work for you, BUT just because the build works does not make it optimal.

More times than not groups, especially PUGs do not want sub-optimal builds. The group is already at a disadvantage from it being a PUG, you bringing your terrible DPS build in the dungeon run does not improve the situation.

Secondly, when did it become ethical to bring your C game rather than your A game to groups? Why is YOUR enjoyment priority over your groups?

Do I like playing Shortbow ranger? Heck ya I do! Would I bring it into a dungeon group? HECK NO! You know why? Because that isn’t my A game. I can do more for my group with a different weapon set. Now if I am doing a DE or running world completion I will bust out my bow, but why is it okay for you to bring your sloppy seconds to a group?

Let’s take my WvW team. I enjoy playing my guardian for WvW. I have a solider build that focuses on empowering might and altruistic healing. This is a great build, BUT this isn’t what my group needs. My group is actually looking for a cleric build guardian that focuses on heal bombing and maximum boons.

So do I say, “Screw you guys, soldier build is fun, Im playing that instead.” Guess what would happen? Exactly. Kicked from group.

Why is the community so crazy freaking selfish in group. Play what helps the group or play with friends who are okay with it. Being selfish with a complete group of strangers trying to play the game is just bad form in every way, and frankly I can’t imagine how people like this would be in real life.

TLDR: Your groups needs outweigh your “fun.” Stop being so selfish.

+1 for Race Change

I have heard a lot of people realize at level 80 with a lot of gear they just don’t like their race’s look at high level. I think each account should get 1 free race change, and to say it is a huge undertaking to make this happen isn’t really true, all you really need to do is make stipulations. Your personal story must be complete, then you just get a character with it completed. All armors are traded for the races equivalent. If anything doesn’t have an equivalent, you forfeit it.

Kiwipearls – Firstly I really can’t tell where you all stand on the whole casual and hardcore. What I am looking for is hardcore in all aspects of the game EXCEPT time put in. I do want a casual schedule, but I am also looking for people who after making mistakes in content won’t say “It’s just game!”

This mentality goes against who I am as a gamer. Yes, I do put all my real life first, but this “game” is a hobby I take pride in and always expect the same of others.

OutspokenAardvark – honestly your guild looks like it is looking to recruit LARGE numbers, which honestly is a bit of a turn off for me unless divided into distinct organized groups. Otherwise it just presents a lack of community and family feel. Some join guilds to have active players to play with. I, myself, can do that without a guild.

If these 200+ active members are in organized groups for a purpose, than I am all for it, but if they are just members playing the game, than I am afraid I will have to pass. Nothing wrong with this, but it just isn’t what I am looking for at this time. Thanks!

Still wanting to see who else is out there. Want to get settled in before free transfers are gone.

You might find Knights of Yggdrasil [KoY] interesting! We’re fairly new, so we haven’t got alot of members yet, but we won’t go very big, I’m hoping for about 10-15 active “family” members.

As the title says I am looking for a late night guild focusing heavily on PvE.

A little about myself:
I am 23 years old and teach music and vocals as side jobs for an income. I am free a good bit of the day and generally enjoy my gaming during the evening through early hours of the morning.

I have been playing MMO’s since Everquest and quickly moved to World of Warcraft upon the open beta phase of vanilla. I raided competitively in Vanilla up through the 3rd expansion WotLK completing every raid ending the expansion ranking #2 in US.

After WotLK the game got stale and I started searching elsewhere for my MMO fix. I played through SWTOR, TERA, EVE, AION but none really caught my attention like GW2 did when it was announced.

Along with GW2 I play many different games such as League of Legends, Magic, Dungeon Defenders and many other steam games to get my fix.

I am by far no longer a Hardcore gamer, but I DO bring the Hardcore mentality to the time I am in game. I may be getting married soon and hopefully starting a family, but I still have standards to everything I do even if I don’t have time I did back when I raided consistently.

What I am Looking for:
I am searching for a guild that…

- is a close gaming family. I do not want to belong to a large zerg guild which is very prevalent in Guild Wars 2.

- does NOT have a stupid name. I know this may seem petty, but I cannot be in a guild named something such as Cocaine Cowboys. I do not want some stupid tag hanging over my head putting me into THAT category of players.

- uses a VoiP server. I prefer mumble as every other server is pretty terrible compared to it. (I’m looking at YOU Ventrilo!)

- plays during later hours (ie. 9:00pm est – 3:00am est)

- does NOT think Arah is hard. If I hear another person complain about the faceroll fight that is Lupi, I might loose my sanity.

- does NOT think light armor wearers are gimped. I play a D/D ele, again I may lose my sanity if I hear someone else complain about it..

- does not consist of arrogant self entitled teenagers. Now I am not implying that all younger people are of this description, but many are. I come to a game world to escape these people, not hang out with them.

- puts real life ahead of gaming. I myself take my gaming very seriously when progressing through or farming content, but aside from that I like to have fun and relax. If my fiance gives me a call to have dinner I do not want to feel pressured into calling real events off just to farm up some tokens in CoE or Arah. This is one HUGE reason I left the competitive raiding scene in larger MMOs.

Conclusion:
Now just because I have certain expectations, I hope you don’t see me as an elitist jerk of a gamer. I have no problem teaching and helping people learn fights, but playing with many PuGs I would like to just be able to play through the game with people with half a brain for a change.

I am defintely interested in running with you during your 12 am est runs. I have run arah p3 about 3 times and can never get through the last boss. I’ll add you and hit you up in game.

Well if you don’t wanna use [gw2lfg.com]. You need to find a good guild that is willing to help. There just simply USUALLY aren’t enough people running story mode of dungeons anymore.

The whole suppressed thing DOES need to be fixed though. I have experienced the same before I just gave in and started using the lfg site.

Now being against using a lfg site is simply just lazy. Many old MMO players can probably back me up on this. Having a community that is willing to band together and create things to aid in their gaming experience is a great signal that we have a good community within the game.

This also enables people to meet new gamers to play with and possibly transfer to play with each other more often.

TLDR: Use [gw2lfg.com] or find a guild to help with story modes. Only options other than being victim to the suppress bug.

Want to hear an amazing idea that none of you will agree with? Make a legendary weapon that can be got in wvwvwv, and lost in wvwvw to whoever kills you (most dmg, or whatever). That you get to keep as long as you are active in wvwvw or you die. That would be “legendary” to see. Right now I just murder all the twilight and sunrise people in seconds since I’ve yet to find someone with a legendary who can pvp

I usually target them first actually. It’s like a giant “look how awesome I am!” Stamp so I enjoy stomping them out

Hey all forgive me if there are some typos and the lack of info as I am typing on my iPad atm.

I am a veteran MMO player from playing in top US raiding guilds in WoW to playing every other MMO under the sun.

I bought GW2 at release and I just picked it up about 1-2 weeks ago and have uninstalled WoW for this new innovative MMO.

I am not interested in amounts of progression or experience but I am simply looking for a small gaming family to join up with.

I am NOT looking for a Zerg guild filled with 60+ players. I enjoy having a smaller guild setting to build new friendships while engaging in my gaming experience.

I am new to GW2 but I have led and held many leadership positions within other MMOs and can help n anyway needed.

Seriously think about it. If say a bank leaked your personal account information, would everyone be so calm about it? If a retail store somehow leaked all your information would it be okay?

Why is it when a gaming company screws up, and people get angry, these people are ridiculed and told THEY are the problem with the community?

People are getting hacked because of a leak on ArenaNet, and these accounts aren’t even being given back deleted items or heroes. Some have not had access to their account in over 2 weeks now. But for them to be angry? That is just uncalled for?

Some are loosing hundreds of dollars from this, and it is simply thrown under the rug?

Any other company would be up to their heads in lawsuits, but to simply restore items on an account that were lost because of an error with ArenaNet is too much to ask?

This is simply ridiculous.

It would be a lot more helpful to people looking for guilds for the guild recruiters to actually post the name of your world first. A few are doing this already but a good majority are not.

(ie. [Crystal Desert] Knights of Guild Wars Recruiting for WvWvW!)

I, and many others, looking for a guild probably aren’t going to open every single thread looking for the correct world.
