Guild Wars 2

I’m not sure if anyone has tried this yet but after multiple fails (crashes) I decided to try the 32 bit executable. 1st attempt also crashed and said that “Gw2-64.exe” crashed. I learned that launching the 32 bit executable Gw2.exe on a 64-bit OS just launches Gw2-64.exe instead.

I relaunched it in 32 bit mode using the -32 launch flag (“C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -32) in the shortcut and I made it through… Maybe I just got lucky maybe not. Personally I’ve ran through this too many times now and I’m not going to try it again to check.

If anyone else wants to try it and leave feedback that would be great.

Also for a faster run, I found you can run through most of the mission and the NPC’s will just catch up to you. I chose to save Zoja first so not sure if that changes but you can run all the way to the first jump. Run up to the left path and it will open the door. Run to Zoja and ignore everything in between. I had to fight at the Logan spot to get it to progress but then just run to each gate until it opens and you’re at the Helix of Rectangle Math Crashes.

My wife made it through on her third try while I was researching this. Didn’t change any settings.

I tried twice with her in my party and we both crashed both times before.

Edit: Tried for a third time, solo this time and still crashed while climbing the helix.

Lots of people having same problem as me (and my wife). Crashing at the helix in Bitter Harvest.

She made it through on her third run without changing anything so it seems to be random. I’ve done it twice and failed both times so far do to the crash.

Edit: game crashed a 3rd consecutive time at the helix…

After running through the last few “Personal Story” instances it was a MAJOR letdown to get to the gates of Arah and find out that the only way to complete it is to party up. My spouse and I generally run through everything together. After spending 30 minutes fighting a constantly re-spawning group of enemies we gave up and turned back. Then another 30 minutes outside waiting for people we thought we might be able to group with (no one ever came up there) the place was swarmed with Risen while I was reading this forum post…

For casual gamers and/or those who are not very sociable in an online environment this is a complete disaster.

I also agree with OrianZeta.1537 – Mashing up the ending story from the dungeons, which some of us not done yet, with the ending to the personal story is a terrible idea.

We’ve also experienced a similar change in quests in the Sylvari story line. After the story “Sharpened Thorns” I (party leader) chose the Order quest, but after my wife (tag-along character) accepted to advance her story she got the opposite quest. “The Blossom of Youth” vs. “Secrets in the Earth”. Didn’t notice immediately so I can’t tell you when this change occurred unlike the lvl. 30 to 48 skip she experienced later when going into lion’s arch.

This does not just happen on the choice quests mentioned above, I’ve had an issue like this on a lower level quest. After the choice in “Sharpened Thorns” my tag along character advanced to the opposite choice than the one I had chosen (“Blossom of Youth”). I got the Order quest while she got the Priory.

We ignored that one but later there was a bigger skip in the quest line leading me to find this.

1. Character name? (Forget… wife’s character)
2. Race, lvl, server and Profession? Sylvari, lvl 30, Yaks Bend, Ranger
3. Quest which caused the skipping? Skipped from lvl 30: Fragile Peace to lvl 48: Forewarned is Forearmed
4. Does the party member who started the quest have the issue as well? No
5. Other relevant details of the characters storyline?
6. What quest and quest level did you get skipped to? above
7. If possible, provide a quest outline with only the relevant choice missions(where you have to choose one), if you can’t remember, no need.
8. Any other notes? I believe this only happens to tag-along characters who choose to advance their story upon completion of someone else’s. The quest “Fragile Peace” was showing in her log in the top-right at first, but some time between when we left the Grove and went to Lion’s Arch it got messed up. We were looking for the quest entrance in town and I was standing on it and she was saying it was elsewhere…
