I’ve been playing this game for a long time. Very long. Longer than probably most anyone here. There isn’t really any reason I post on this forum except when its an important change that’s needed.

A banner rez on the keep lord is fine. I like that we can banner rez keep lords, but the cap circle should not reset. It’s a stupid game mechanic that makes keep sieges less realistic. There shouldn’t be a different warrior jumping in every 25 seconds to save a keep. I’m happy if its changed so the keep lord comes back with a buff, more hp, even 15 seconds of invulnerability to help the defense, but the cap circle should not reset to full.

It doesn’t make logical sense and it also makes the game less fun for all. Defense turns into … run in banner, run out…. and offense turns into PvE and disrupticon.

Thoughts?

That sure was a lot of ballistas by SoR at the spawn point….

LotD fighting on any map causes the SoR zerg to switch maps and give up whatever they are doing to come fight us.

I’ll keep logging in to fight whatever Tier I’m on. I hunt down every place that is outnumbered and defend the kitten out of it. That’s how I play – and it doesn’t matter where – there’s always a tower or keep under attack.

Give 2 points for killing people. If its possible to code, put a limit at 25 deaths per day to prevent griefing.

During NA primetime we are frequently outnumbered. I know one thing. LotD massacres any TC and SoR fights where we aren’t more than 1.5x outnumbered, and can frequently defend against 3x numbers.

Anyone at Garrison Keep last Friday night at SoR borderlands knows exactly what I’m talking about. I’m hoping some of the good players from IoJ and SoR join up so we can stomp Tier 1 in a few weeks.

Thanks for the keep, we enjoyed whipping TC and SoR outnumbered at Garrison, Camps, the Field, just about everywhere.

Mr. Try-hard. SoR turned the map BG was outnumbered about 2 to 1. When you finally took Klovan last night BG had outmanned buff on. Later at night the tables were turned and a guild brought some regular golems and took back everything you took facing the same numbers of defense, and then threw them away.

The reason this was so easy is that we created a diversion at Bravost so all the Golems could be built and walk directly to the front door. There was zero resistance until the inner gate. Keep was flipped.

At least get your facts straight. Oh wait this is a forum. Never mind, just make stuff up.

At least we kept our keep when we were outnumbered.

mostly i was just kitten that nobody from BG noticed the catapults and the 50 people outside of klovan. i turned the treb but it was too late.

I got hit for 5000 and then backstabbed by a guy for 8000 tonight in my full defensive setup and then followed up with him stealthing and finishing me while invisible.

I don’t post here much. The only people that know me are probably the BG crews that fight alongside me and some others for who knows what reason. I think next week Blackgate is moving to Tier 1, or at least that’s what has been said.

Our guild has been in Tier 1 before on another server, again on Blackgate, and are about to go back ths week or next. I can honestly say that I’ve never fought against any servers that were as tough in actual battle as SoR and IoJ. Normally I can whip up a group of pugs and beat just about any army, but I know that’s its going to be a long night if our Guild didn’t have a strong enough presence and the IoJ/SoR teams were organized.

This is reflected in the month of scores where we’ve battled constantly, and I have a lot of respect for the crews that have stayed on IoJ and especially for SoR for their hard push tonight. Whereas a lot of BG players may be content with the score, EB tonight was an SoR army we don’t normally see on a Thursday night.

That being said, I’m no William Wallace riding in front of you pumping up telling you that you can die today or spend the rest of your life in regret. But if Wallace were fighting in Tier 2, he’d probably say this to us right now.

That being said, come to Blackgate for a week and lets destroy those Tier 1 zerg guilds with the skills you’ve shown in battle.

LoL @ Door Machine complaining the WvW isn’t fun. Maybe if you actually fought people the game would be enjoyable.

At least in the Borderlands or EB when I play, I think what’s made Blackgate grow stronger is the commitment to keep fighting for stuff even when we are outnumbered. I don’t ever see people with us much defensive siege as we put up. It’s not uncommon to see small groups running yaks for hours on end and 10-12 defensive siege items at our towers.

It tends to keep players in my guild more interested and committed when they see so many people giving a kitten about winning and spending their resources to defend.

What is important is that, as a guild, we are in the process of discussing and deciding on a new server to call home.

Again, lower tiers get no love

As specifically indicated, Lower Tier servers are a terrific option for New Players and Established Solo Players. What really matters for those folks is the community they join and specifically, what Guilds are out there.

Large Guilds that Can Make a Difference will often come directly from low-ranking Tier Servers already —- they are generally looking for a new home because they want to make difference. Obviously 100 people joining the lowest tier server will make a difference, they just won’t be a low-tier server for very long if they do.

Small Guilds and Elite Groups tend to want to fight every time they get into WvW, and the low-tier servers tend not to have the population (on their side or against them) to make this possible. This is one of the reasons why they are lower-tier on the scoring formula.

I don’t know SoR Borderlands wasn’t the place to be tonight. Blackgate was completely dominant for several hours (all teams were even) until after they took Garrison from SoR. Made the mistake to push Dawn’s with the golems and nobody listened to the directions to GTFO and defend Redbriar. Opened the door for Red to get a hold of Redbriar which ultimately starved out Bay ….. BG held three keeps for about an hour and two keeps most of the night. Now Red will have to deal with SoR from the North while defending Redbriar the rest of the night because Hills and Greenlake are upgraded extremely well.

Props from LotD to Mezz and his crew for holding down Champ’s for as long as they did. That was enough to take the heat off of the Southeast side of the map for us to take over.

Transferring or Joining a Server is a Big Decision

In addition to all the QQ Nerf This, XYZ vs PDQ vs PDK, and So-and-So Hacked Again posts we get on the WvW forum, there are regular posts for people looking for a server. I tend to laugh at these posts, not at the original person that posts, but rather the scores of replies from servers begging people to join them. Let me tell you that this post is not about begging you to join my server. I’m not even going to tell you what server I play on. And because I’m not a regular here, I doubt anyone even knows who I am.

That being said, everyone looking for a server generally falls in one of several different categories. I’ve been regularly gaming in MMOs since 1998 and I hope that this experience provides a helpful post.

Five Types of Transfers

1. The New Player
2. The Established Solo Player
3. The Group of Friends
4. The Small Elite Group of Players
5. The Large Guild that Can Make a Difference
6. The Forum Troll

For each of these groups, there is a different way to find your right home. Unfortunately there is no spreadsheet you can put your information into and kick back the right answer, and most of what you’ll read on this forum is a load of bull. The next 5 posts are made because of the limit on Message Body Length and are not intended to be spam.

While I love Raven and KnT, he doesn’t speak for the server. It’s tough to defend things from my bedroom with my eyes closed and the lights off.

But you’ll also see us plenty of Beastgate in the Borderlands today. Though I do doubt most people will be spending lots of money on upgrades and expensive siege machinery unless its a good fight.

Assuming this isn’t a troll post, if you’re transferring by yourself, the Guild or Guilds you will be looking to join will be more important than the server you join. There are several good sites where Guilds advertise for players, including the one hosted by GW2. I recommend applying to one of these guilds in advance of transferring so that you can hit the ground running.

Saw this tonight because I don’t bother forums much. Whoever recommended to try a bunch of servers is wise. With 40 guys you can send 10 people to four different servers for a week and try them out.

My recommendation is to go to two of the three Tier 2 Servers (IoJ and BG have been mentioned a lot) and the top rank Tier 3 / bottom rank Tier 1.

That will give you a good idea what’s out there and you can all transfer to something else a week later. If you end up in Blackgate feel free to jump into the Lords of the Dead TS server or the public Mumble server because that’s the best way to get to know our server.

If you’re a small guild looking for fights I recommend you join a T2 or T3 server. Because you don’t have too many just transfer en masse for a week and try it out.
