Ability delay - 'Wai' or just Arenanet showing off their ability to code?
in Warrior

My fps gamer experience is very relevant. There are no other games where every little ounce of performance or the lack thereof is as important and hence will make most playing at a high level more sensitive than most.
For once I just wish someone could just say ‘Ok I dont have it/cant feel it/whatever but apparently you have it and you seem to know what you talk about.’ But I guess people cant relate when they themselves cant do something.
Thanks for time you spend speculating, I understand you are trying to make sense of my experience. I have already taken into consideration all those factors and more. Repeatedly in fact. I dont come here and point out issues lightly, although admitedly it was a bit on the brief side.
So lets start again. I have ability delay. Arenanet, please fix.
Hello.
You say you play(ed?) at a high level in fps games, yet you dont show any sign of a high level player.
Having said that, i cant deny nor can i (or would) speak your skill down, since i dont know you.
If you are able to play on a competitive level in FPS (and i really do hope you do not speak about CoD…) you should be able to adapt quite quickly to things like ability lag.
Having played several shooters myself, among other games, not always at the top of the top but way above the average player i can say for myself – i did see the lag you mention (warrior is not the only profession that has it) and i just learned to deal with it.
As someone somewhere sometime ago said “adapt or die trying”
Best regards

Yes to Arenas. A MUST, imo.
If Pimpslapper thinks it’s lame he can easily avoid playing it.
BTW Rock, where are you from?
First off, i have to say sorry to you. I didnt get the chance to apologize for my rude post in the other thread since it got locked.
Secondly, i agree with this. A competitive field where people can fight against each other is really needed. I dont know why they didnt put in the same arena style they had in GW1 since that was fighting in its purest form (except for the map with the flags, god i hated it)
Moreso since tournaments arent competitive and sPvP shoul be more of a relax game after playing 4 hours of arena, if you know what i mean
On an unrelated note, could someone tell me how to edit my signature or even where i can find it?
Best regards
You guys realize this thread isn’t about WoW vs GW2 right? It’s about what GW2 PVP lacks. Get off the WoW hatred and let’s talk about the actual topic at hand, mmkay?
ok because of all these funny posts, i will answer you in a simple way.
about gw2 pvp lacks: gw2 pvp lacks of some mature players who think they need to play harder to reach a good skill, while they think they are already good enough.you guys are sad because you don’t pay attention to anything in the game. and you all are beginners. stop whine in forums and play more.
then if you say 8v8 is spvp, ok, i won’t argue that BS.No one is arguing the difficulty of PvP. People are arguing it’s narrow limits and shallowness. The missing of the fun factor and the thrill that should come along with PvP.
Son, after all that stuff you wrote about WoW being superior (mind you if thats your opinion thats fine) to GW2 in, well all aspects as i take it from your posts, why dont you take a stept back, install WoW, play a bit (pay 12€) and come back to GW2 if you want (costs nothing btw.)
No one will ever force you to play a game that you dont enjoy, nor will anyone ever blame you for saying that you think that x is better y (in your opinion)
You see, just because you think this and that is wrong with GW2 doesn’t mean its essentially true, nor does it mean that its false. It means you have an opinion and you had expectations and they were not met. Thats sad and fine at the same time, because getting disappointed is a thing everyone of has sadly has to endure.
BUT you try to force your OPINION onto the people that do enjoy the game for what it is. In MY opinion GW2 is so far more superior to WoW (having played that game for 6 1/2 years) that its almost saddening for me to admit that i played WoW.
Than again, the developers of WoW (the real devs of the game itself, not the expansions) are the people that made GW1 and GW2.
Having said all that, i do know that i could let hell freeze over and you wouldn’t be open for other opinions, since you would rather deny the possibility of someone out there having another mindset than you.
Best regards.
Since you said single target damage, unload is the way to go. Nothing deals more damage than unload (no counting bleed stacking) on a target that has 10 or more vulnerability stack on it.
You want button smashing and a one skill win….. habbo hotel is a good place for you Vet.
If you cant land your hits thats a l2p issue, use cc before a long skill
Oh so you want me to sacrifice fun and play style so I can fall in line with every other tunnel visioned pvper? I’d rather “pick my own weapons.” This wouldn’t be an issue if the classes had their own skill set rather than having what you’re using decide. Hell, if I want to Rush someone, I can do that with anything in my hands, not just a two-handed sword.
I have to admit, thats one big thing for me. I dont know why they did it like that but having your skills bound or chained to your weapon kind of makes me sad. The game is released and that concept is kind of set in stone i guess but i wish they didnt do it.
Having “only” the skills that your current weapon has is kind of…well it gets boring quite fast :/
I do understand that i am essentially using the same skills i used as an assassin in GW1 – me being a Thief and all that – but still…it was fun to experiment with your damage skills and trying out other professions (A/M or A/W anyone?) and using parts of their skills as well. Gave the game alot of depth.

I would rather go with Sundering Strikes and Combined Training.
I never get to use venoms in explorable mode anyway, thats why i scratched them from my list. Just my two cents
Best regards.
Thieves are doing good in pve at all levels. If you are getting hit too much try using some defensive traits and/or slot skills. And be mobile.
/sigh “Be mobile” is just a different wording for “endless kitefest where you’re always one step away from downed”. Thieves aren’t doing good in PvE except maybe those who already have exceptionally good gear. Ironically they don’t need to do much PvE anymore.
Sorry but the Thief is definitly not for you.
I am a level 80 Thief and never had any problems at all, even handling 3+ enemies at once is not hard if you trait into condition damage (its spammy alright but you can take on quite alot of enemies if you do it right).
Using your Steal skill (traited with damage and initiative – maybe even poison) gives you a whole new field you can play in.
Running dungeons – now that is something i would like ANet to take a look into.
There is no way to stay longer than a few seconds in melee combat.
Its not bad running P/P and SB, i dont mind that. But i do mind if it isn’t even an option to play S/D or D/D or D/P in dungeons.
Also, doing quite alot of exploration dungeons i can say that having a Thief makes the whole thing so much easier…we got so many support skills that benefit the whole group – look at Smoke Screen or Shadow Refuge or (as a Sylvari) your seeds (mobs instanstly switch to your seeds if you drop them).
Do not sell the Thief short if you dont know what you are talking about.
We can support while doing ok’ish damage or we scratch support and go full burst mode with damage (and you will notice it if a good Thief stops doing his damage)
Our surviveability – in the case of getting OUT from somewhere – is without a doubt top notch. Warriors and Guardians might be able to “tank” mobs, but they got nothing once their CD’s are blown. As a Thief and a brain you still can go invisible or teleport away (Shortbow teleport, no CD, 900 range, cures a condition – do i need to say more?)
So all in all, we do have our downsides, every profession does. But stating that the Thief is worth nothing in endgame is a blatant lie.
Hope i could help and best regards
