Representing Kabal of the Righteous [Seed]
Sorrow’s Furnace
Call me a noob, but I just recently realized that commander icons appear above a player who had enough gold to buy the commander book. I thought it was a dynamic event commander in need of aid (since the first commander icon I saw was “Commander Pendingdoom” on the Cursed Shore map in PvE).
I ran over to help the commander who was “supposedly” pending doom…only to find out it was another player whose character’s name was Pendingdoom…LOL!
Later, I was in WvW and saw Commander Pendingdoom, and thought, “you can’t trick me this time Mr. Doom! I will freeroam and get pwnd on my own, thank you!”
The only reason I can see for a commander icon to be allowed to show in PvE is for the reason Graduis stated; to “run RP Roaming Events”.
If you have a commander title, please turn it off in PvE unless you are planning a server/zone event. It throws off the noobs. =P
All the above responses give good advice…if you’re thinking of right now, short term.
Ehrnam, you can only have 2 trades active at a time, but you can switch to any trade you wish, at any time, just by talking to a master craftsman of the desired trade. It may cost you a small amount of copper or silver to do so (I think it’s 10 copper per each level you have advanced the trade).
So, you don’t need to just pick 2 trades…you can do all of them if you wish…and there’s a nifty title for mastering all of the trades.
I found a fishing pole lying on the ocean floor that i could pick up. It had no skills associated with it, but I took it out and snapped a screenshot of me standing on a rock with the fishing pole, looking over the water. =P
If you’re wondering where, I believe it was in the Sunken Droknah area of Mount Maelstrom, kind of near the shore.
Konig Des Todes – “Why there are ghostly catapults or cannons… Don’t think I’ve seen any explanation to that. How can an immaterial object have a ghost? Same goes for the ghostly kegs of ale seen in The Shattered Keep of Sparkfly Fen (and yet those ghosts use material weapons…).” [wouldn’t let me use quote]
I agree with Konig. The question posted of this topic is “Why do ascalonian ghosts get cannons?” I wondered this as well on my travels though Charr lands (old Ascalon).
Cannons (catapults, kegs, etc.) are immaterial. They do not have a soul. Traditionally, ghosts are the visible form of the soul/spirit of a dead person (or creature). So, how can cannons and other soulless items have a ghost form?
I am normally more of a PvE player than a PVP player in MMO’s. However, in GW2, I am finding that I really enjoy playing my Thief in WvW. I think the main reason is because I recognized what the class is meant for; it’s strengths and limitations.
I started playing with P/P and S/P with a glass cannon build, but soon switched to Shortbow & D/P and a build set for utility/escape/dodge and survivability when I found myself dying a lot.
Shortbow, imo, is priceless for a thief in WvW. It helps you traverse the map quickly and escape from zergs. You can also lay down a decent amount of AoE dps from a distance.
I use D/P for the times when I just need to get in and finish off an enemy, it provides quick high single target dps. I don’t see the need for melee AoE dmg when using S/P (although I miss having the extra stun from pistol whip). But, D/P’s 4th skill provides a short stun when I need it.
I wouldn’t suggest using two ranged weapon sets (P/P & Shortbow), cause you’re pretty much screwed if you get stunned and/or caught in melee range of other melee classes.
When I play Thief in WvW, my perspective of the class is that it is meant to be used more for scouting and sneakyness. I get a few kills in, but I like sabotaging/distracting the enemy more than anything. If you get a small band of Thieves, with a few different builds, rolling WvW together, you can cause some real problems for the enemy when they least expect it. When all their forces are focused on the main zerg, my ninja squad is capturing supply camps, killing area sentinels or flanking the enemy from behind.
Can a guild switch servers?
I’m not sure if this has been answered yet (I looked around a bit on the forums and could not find an answer).
I have a friend who created a small guild for her family members. All of them are on the same server, but now they all want to switch to my server.
Can they transfer their whole “family” guild to my server and still keep all their earned influence and what not?

I had the same problem a few days ago. I tried relogging and that didn’t fix it. I wasn’t able to even right-click anything (linked items in chat, inventory items, etc.)
However, it seemed to occur only in certain areas of the map, as I was able to navigate (by keyboard) away from those areas and my rmb worked again. But, would fail again if i went back into that area. Eventually, I just used a waypoint to go to another area and logged out for the afternoon.
The problem hasn’t occurred since then for me, so hopefully it will naturally fix itself for you too. It was very annoying…
