Very simple things we should already have 2 months in.

The Halloween event was made because ANET isn’t staring at their own feet when they plan content design/implementation.
No. ANet are doing a Halloween event because every other MMO does one, and they think people will play, if they do things similar to other MMOs! What about they be the first MMO to actually put Player requested content in the game on a regular basis?

It’s used to contextualize what the game needs to function properly before adding additional content that could simultaneously cause additional problems.
Last time I checked (I’m playing now), the game was functioning properly. And as far as I know – Halloween items are not needed to make the game function properly either. There are WAY better and more requested things that ANet could be adding, than silly event items that more often than not, need to be purchased for gems.
Nope, they would rather release a patch for lame haloween skis instead of fixing hacks that allow botters to get away with inflating prices
This is the same with almost all MMOs. The devs are so caught up in making sure what they THINK players would like is added (stupid holiday event stuff), when there are far bigger and more important things that could be added/changed.
If ANet spent less time talking to their financial department thinking about how to make more money (Black Lion items!), and more time reading the Suggestions forum, then this game could be far better.

The priority argument is used in the wrong way almost constantly. If something is so simple to add, and yet is not because of “priority” then what’s the point of having a suggestions forum?
The biggest PRIORITY should be adding things that players want. I’ll admit that some of the features the OP suggested are not big necessities, but if enough players want them, then the priority argument kills itself, because what players want IS the priority.
I personally think all of those features mentioned would be great – and I see so reason not to add any of them!
Thanks guys! I’ll definitely be checking out that GitHub code and seeing how they do theirs.
Thanks healix for the link to the trading post! Do you know if that site is going to stay up, or will it be pulled due to a large number of people accessing it?
Yeah, I heard they were going to make the TP available outside the game for managing trades and the like, but I haven’t heard any news recently. Hopefully somebody from ANet will be able to inform us!
BUMP—-
Seriously though, how do some people get access to it, and others don’t? There’s a few websites on the internet that show very nearly live prices on all items. How do they manage to do this?
Well, as has already been seen, ANet are good at making games, but not at anything economy related.
Using the trading post is a safer method of trading and simultaneously makes the game more robust. We believe that between mail and the trading post the game is much safer and still contains all the functionality needed.
Sorry if I sound ungrateful or anything, as I very much appreciate how much work you guys have put into the game, as well as the fact that you are actively replying to forum posts, but I could not DISAGREE MORE.
What exactly do you mean by, “makes the game more robust”. Player to player trading (or person to person trading) has been going on since forever, in fact, since the beginning of time – and has worked quite well. Being able to barter for items, and reach a fair deal is much better than all these capitalist trading systems nowadays (though we won’t get into this now).
All I’m trying to say is, player to player trading is an important part of every MMO. I could think of a few MMOs where it works very well, and has not resulted in gold selling or anything of the like.
In fact, the mail system, IS THE BEST WAY TO SELL GOLD. Why? Because you DO NOT need to be online to receive it! All I have to do is pay for gold via a website, enter my ingame name, and check back a week later to find my gold is delivered!
Player to player trading then, obviously will not affect gold selling in anyway. In fact, it will only result in positive things. 1) Not flooding the trading post 2) increase trading post performance (less people using it) and 3) fairer pricing and exchange of items.
To not recognise these three benefits, you would have to be severely ignorant.
Does anybody have any clue on how to access the Trading Post prices from outside of the game? I’ve seen a few websites that have meticulous coverage of prices down to every few minutes, and obviously they are not recording them themselves (they have 1 week+ history).
If not, will this be made available in the future? I know many MMOs allow price and market history being viewed on their website in some form or another.
I mean, obviously the Trading Post is a website being loaded inside of the game, but is that site publicly available for access?
Thanks in advance!
